Quick DInner on the Way Back from Lotus

Thanks! I'll keep it in mind as a backup, in case Ikedas is closed by the time we get there.

Thanks so much. That Ikedas place sounds great.

Quick DInner on the Way Back from Lotus

Am going white water rafting in Lotus, CA on a Saturday in June with the boyfriend. We will be leaving Lotus between 4-5PM and headed to Union Square via the I-80W. Can you guys recommend a good diner, truck stop, or sandwich place somewhere along the highway for a quick dinner? Bonus points if it's quirky, or known for its pie, or whatever.

Thanks so much.

Breakfast To-Go Near Palace Hotel

On the way to Lotus, CA. We'll be taking the I-80 through Oakland.

So you think it's best to pick up something the night before? My only issue would be that we may not have access to a fridge. We're not guaranteed to get one at the hotel we're staying.

Breakfast To-Go Near Palace Hotel

Boyfriend and I are spending a weekend in San Francisco and staying at the Palace Hotel. We are flying in early Friday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon. I have all the restaurants picked for every meal except Saturday's breakfast.

Here's the issue: We are leaving at 7AM on Saturday to go white water rafting. This is a 3-hour trip each way. We're not going to want to get up any earlier than necessary to stop and eat breakfast, so we'll either have to get something on the way or buy something the night before and eat it the next day.

Do you have any suggestions? Should we get sandwiches or is there a place on the way that serves something like great breakfast burritos?

Thanks so much.

Celebrating My Parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary in Madison, WI

My brothers and I would like to surprise my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary by taking them out to dinner and dancing in August. I went to college in Madison, but moved away after graduating about eleven years ago and much has changed there in the interim.

We've been to L'Etoile and Cocoliquot and some other fine dining places in the past few years and they were all great. Are there any new restaurants I should know about?

Also, do you know of a place we could take them dancing that's not a bump-and-grind kind of nightclub? Like maybe a piano bar or a place with a brass band? (Do those place still exist anywhere?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Tucson - Want to make my father-in-law cry... with joy.

My father-in-law is turning 60 in a couple of weeks. Our gift to him will be a tasting menu paired with wine, something that will make him want to thank each and every taste bud for existing. I live in L.A. and know little about Tucson. Where do you recommend we take him? I've heard good things about Janos and Ventana Room. Just for this one night, money is no object. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
