Any Salvadoran Groceries?

Rincón Salvadoreño Restaurant in Jamaica have a grocery store attached to it and sells all the Salvadorian groceries. They only have frozen loroco and not fresh.

Chez Michelle Eatonton,GA

So glad I found this place by accident! Awesome southern food at very reasonable prices! Not only the food was good (we had the fried chicken and the smothered pork chops) the homemade biscuits and corn bread was KILLER. Desserts are old fashion and made in house. Only bad thing was we found them on Sunday and they will be closed for the rest of our stay :(

Hidden Gem in Fairhope, AL - Cristina's Catering & Café

Thanks to my daughter's craving for ice cream, we found this hidden gem! Its a little restaurant across the street from Mr. Gene's Beans. Although closed at the time we walked by, we looked at the posted menu and decided we had to try it for lunch tomorrow. We were not disappointed! The hubby loved the Pisco Sours. Daughter had the Chicharon de Pollo which looked like chicken bits but was bursting with flavor. The Cassava a la Huancaina was delicious. The Huancaina sauce is like a garlic aioli and I could have licked the container! WE also tried the Pollo Al Horno and Poblano Chile Rellenos and both were delicious. We planning to head back before we leave!

SOS----how far ahead of time can I cut up kiwi without fear that the cut pieces will discolor?

They do not discolor. I did it just last weekend. Cut up in the morning, left in the fridge and served it at night.

Amada suckling pig - Did I go on a off night?

mscoffee,
For the tapas one person in our party (who been to Spain before) kept saying that is was normal for them to be on the salty side so we ate them and we did enjoy it. To tell the truth, I think I was in denial. I talked my sister's family into coming to this restaurant and she normally would not splurge on food like this. How can I admit that the food was bad after paying $40.00 per person for that pig!!!

Amada suckling pig - Did I go on a off night?

We had the suckling pig when we visited on Memorial weekend and I was highly disappointed! Our party was larger than the pig we reserved (Half of the group were kids under 12). With a larger party, we figure great, we can try all the tapas too! We ordered some tapas including the Pernil Asado. The tapas were good but did find most of them on the salty side. After having the Pernil Asado (crispy skin and the tasty pork) we were looking forward to the suckling pig. The suckling pig came out on the carving table steaming and everyone was excited. They also brought out the Paella Valenciana we ordered and all the side dishes that came with the pig. The only side dish we felt was good/edible was the grilled green onions. The garbanzo beans had way too much white wine and salt which made it salty and sour. The white beans were still a little hard. The Paella Valencia was inedible! The chicken had a thick coating of seasoning that made it overly salty on the outside and it was DRY!! The rice also too salty and full of tomato. The suckling pig….the skin was awesome but the meat itself lacked flavor (not that I recall ever having bad crispy pig skin..lol). The pork was the only thing I tasted the whole night that could have used a dash of salt.

From all the reviews, I am wondering did I go on a off night or the pig is all hype?

Is 1.5 hour enough time for dinner at Sushi Yasuda

DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary and he wanted to go to Sushi Yasuda. I got reservation at the sushi bar for 6pm but was told canonly have it if we are done by 7:30pm. Is that enough time? If we sat at a table instead, would we be missing much? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Pupusas and Tamales de Elote

Looks like they offer non-traditional pupusas so the question is are the traditional pupusas (like pupusa revuelta) good?

Pupusas and Tamales de Elote

Looking for a Salvadorian restaurant that serve good pupusas and tamales de elote.
I remember going to Los Chorros years ago and the pupusas were good but can't remember if they had tamales de elote. My daughter and I love the tamale with crema so that is a must. We are staying in Pentagon City by the Fashion mall and have a car so any recommendation within 1/2 hour would be great. We would prefer a eat in restaurant that can accommodate a group of 8-12. TIA!
