Wonderful night at Babbo

We had the most wonderful experience at Babbo Friday night. It was all we had hoped for and more! The roasted beet appetizer was so fresh the others loved the beef chhek ravioli the strped bass I had was excellent. The sommelier recommended a cheaper wine instead of the more expensive which turned out to be excellent. The gelatos were sublime and then there was Mario!! My friend is a caterer and we saw him come in. We asked the maitre de if a picture oppurtinity was possble. We waited outside as instucted and had at least ten minutes with Mario who was so great. Definitely worth the 45 minutes I spent waiting to get through on the phone. if you haven't been go and keep trying the phone lines. Next stop will be Per Se! But if I can't get in Babbo is my new Fav in NYC

So excited to go to Babbo questions

Going to Babbo next week. a few questions. Casual or dress up? Do they rush you out? the only time I could book was 5:45. Absolute fav thing to eat there? and absolute non meat or pork dish I don't eat either but my friends do. What not to order? Are the desserts tdf or should we go someplace else? Any servers that I should request or seating area can you see the kitchen or is it hidden. Love the open kitchen thing! Thanks

restaurants for large party?

I posted the same question and am going to Cascina in 2 weeks with a group of 15. The menu looks good and they were very accomodating with seating us all together and no time linit on dinner. Check out their website Otto had a 2 hour limit and couldn't guarantee us sitting together. The reviews are pretty good and the prices were really reasonable. I will post how it went Good luck!!

Group of 14 Fun place but good food help!!

Plans have changed am now looking for a fun and casual place under $ 40.00 plus drinks for a 5oth birthday. Food has to be good. Pizza, Italian ,maybe Mexican. Not Chinese. In the Village, Chelsea, wherever I'm thinking TriBeca may be crazy since we're going during the film festival. Place where we could stay after dinner and chat over drinks too. A place that would take reservations would also be helpful with such a big group.

We are going to Tribeca Grill they will accomodate us no problem, just have to reserve a month ahead. They have a large table for big groups. Thanks so much for all of your suggestions. Anyone know of a good bar nearby?

Is 13 an unlucky number for a reservation? help!!

I am in charge of a 5oth birthday bash in April. Have been calling for a table no one seems to have a table larger than 10! Or we have to eat at either 5:30 or 9: 30 with a limited menu. Have called Gotham Grill, Union Square ,Craft etc. Considered booking 2 tables but can't be gauranteed seating close by. Looking for $ 50.00 plus wine per person in Manhattan with varied menu nice ambiance.Thinking of Beacon but can't find alot of reviews. Help dinner is in April.
