Don Emiliano in San Jose del Cabo

Is this restaurant still open? We went there last year on a trip to Cabo, and hope to go again this month, but the website seems to be down.

Kosher restaurant near City Hall [moved from Manhattan board]

Hi all - looking for a nice Kosher restaurant with a few blocks of city hall for a business lunch on Monday. If nothing a few blocks away exists, reccomendations for any nice sit down kosher restaurants within a 5 minute cab ride would be appreciated. Any price.

Cookware for beginners...

Ugh, one more question..... I went back to WS last night to look at everything again, and I really just love the Lagostia line. Its so pretty. The WS employee basically assured me that everything they sell would work wonderfully for my purposes, and that it was perfectly alright to make my decision based on aesthetics. The Lagostina is 3ply -- am I loosing any important features by going for this instead of the d5?

Cookware for beginners...

Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful advice! We are going to do a few pieces in the d5, but also do a nonstick fry pan, and a few of the le crueset.

Cookware for beginners...

Is the d5 easy to clean? I have read conflicting reviews... also wondering if it heats up more quickly than other stainless steel cookware?

Cookware for beginners...

I have seen the less expensive 13 piece contemporary stainless steel set from calphalon, and I guess my question is whether it is worth it to go for the all-clad d5? Besides price (saw the 13 piece set for 500), what are the advantages and disadvantages to going for the contemporary stainless steel set over the AC d5? I think I am now rulling out copper core...

Cookware for beginners...

Hi! I am currently registering for my wedding and am in way over my head when it comes to cookware (and knives). My fiance and I both like the idea of cooking... but currently live in a manhattan apartment with a kitchen the size of a non-walk in closet, so we don't get much practice. Shortly after the wedding, we (hope) to be moving somewhere with more kitchen space and finally get cookin!

I think our main concerns are: we want pieces that will heat quickly, that are easy to clean, and easy on the eyes. I was lured into putting a copper core set on the registry while at BB&B, but when I got home and thought about it, the price just seemed crazy for cooking newbies like us. I love the look of the Lagostina Williams Sonoma line (which you cannot buy online, which is an issue), but I am wondering whether those (or the All Clad d5 Brushed Stainless Steel line, which you can get online) are slow heating? We will also get a non-stick fry pan no matter what.)

Any thoughts on a good line for beginner cooks?

Drinks and Dinner near Bryant Park?

I've been to John's and its not exactly what I am looking for, and I forgot about Kellari Taverna, but fairly recently was with the same people at the Kellari on 21st street. Any other ideas?? I appreciate the response.

Drinks and Dinner near Bryant Park?

Looking for a restaurant withing 3 or 4 blocks of Bryant Park for drinks and dinner - something casual and not too expensive, but not bar food. I am aware of Koi, Bryant Park Grill, db Bistro Moderne, but those are a little out of the price range. Thanks.

Affordable Family Dinner - LI

Or, Basil Leaf Cafe?

Affordable Family Dinner - LI

Looking for a place that will be not too loud (but not dead either) on a Saturday night for two families to get together. Easy options as their are some picky eaters in the bunch. Italian is probably the safest bet, or some kind of basic american type cuisine. However, those of us who are not picky would like some great, interesting options, and also would like a nice atmosphere, but entrees under $25.... How is Circa (Mineola) Novia (Garden City) Martoni (Huntington) or City Cellar (Westbury)?

Have been to Luce in East Norwich, loved it. Would like someting similar but a litte less pricey...

slightly embarassing question

One more piece of info - two members of our party are 20. Some of these places seem to be 21 and over at night, so if anyone specifically knows places don't have that, that would be helpful! (honestly though, the 20 year olds may decide they are too cool to sing michael jackson with a bunch of old people)

Quinns or Lark - for tonight! help

Thanks SO much for the rec, we went and we LOVED IT. Everything was beautiful, service was impeccable, food was fantastic, and they let us just hang out there for hours and take our time. An absolutely lovely evening, and I will be watching Next Iron Chef now and rooting for Holly!

Montenapo - who has been?

Okay, well we went. I actually thought the food was very very good. We had the buffalo carpaccio, the florale salad, the beef cheek ravioli and a pasta with sausage. Everything was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The restaurant itself is also very pretty, but it was fairly empty (maybe 1/3 full) on a friday night, which I also think sped up the service a little, we would have preffered a slower pace. Overall, the prices are a little high for what you are getting, but I did really enjoy the experiene.

As your eating you get a hat. what is the name of this place ?

I was in a place in South Carolina that did that called Dicks. The waiters write degrading things on the hats and they are very rude to you, hence the name. I think its a chain restaurant - I have never seen this in NYC though, nor would I want to.

Looking for a good happy hour place (decent drink/snack discount, not stuffy or collegey crowd) whose specials run past 7pm. Red Egg was looking great until I realized the deal ends at 7. Any ideas?

Thoughts on Rouge Tomate?

we really liked all the food we had, but found that dining in a giantly huge overpriced restaurant at about e20% capacity killed the experience. we kept talking about how there is no way this place will stay in business for long.
