This is for a new show on the Food Network and I suddenly need one more in the NYC area.
I'm looking for food feuds in NYC or within a 2 hours drive of the city. An item of food (say pierogi) where there are two restaurants that make an item and lots of strong opinions about who does it best. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Can't do hot dogs, lobster rolls, pizza, deli or cupcakes.....thanks so much for any suggestions.

Billy's Pit Bar-B-Q, Bastrop
Has anyone eaten at Billy's in Bastrop, 30 miles east of Austin? They get raves from the locals but their methods are unorthodox. They cook at high heats for shorter periods instead of the usual low and slow.

I'm looking for a great diner with fine home cooking for a national cable show. The idea is old fashioned diners with new or relatively new owners who have brought the diners back to their former glory with wonderful but traditional food. Owners must make good characters. Can be in NYC or within a 1 hour drive.

I'm going to check out The Penguin, but ideally it would be outside of Charlotte, so we don't have two stories in the same town. If you have more ideas for places outside Charlotte, I'd love to hear about them. We're looking for really good home cooking, a diner type place that has been around for a long time and good characters with a good story.

I am looking for great diners or "dives" nothing fancy, just great home cooked food and owners with charisma to be featured on a national cable show. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. This is a great opportunity for a small business but will certainly not spoil anything about it.
PHX - red velvet cake or cupcakes?
You know red velvet cake is not a flavor, just chocolate cake with lots and lots of red food coloring. A lot of serious bakers won't make it because they feel adding that much coloring gives the cake an unpleasant artificial flavor.
