Solid Saturday restaurant?

Why don't you hit the Katsuya on Ventura or any of the other good ones (skip Hollywood) You'll control your price and the food is always wonderful. I don't think you could go wrong.

OK - here's the list I've compiled, but I've only been to one or two of these spots. Can anyone comment on the following for ambiance (no loud, "sceney" scenes necessary),? Im looking for good food, and a nice, relaxing atmosphere for brunch with about six people tomorrow morning, possibly a place with outdoor seating??. Also, not looking for the most expensive and lavish places either. Any Im missing or should but cut from the list??? THANK YOU!!!!

Good food in a fun atmosphere?

We are taking my friend out for his 29th birthday tonight and looking for a new place to try.

We love places like Gaucho's Village, The Stinking Rose, 25 Degrees, Dar Machreb, the revolving restaurant downtown, little Ethiopia...

None of us are "fancy" restaurant people as much as we are into great atmosphere - and of course, good food. Has anyone ever gone to The Melting Pot in pasadena? We live in Hollywood so anything but the west side is usually game. Thanks for your suggestions!!

Best CHEESECAKE in LA?

Nobody has mentioned Musso and Franks on Hollywood Blvd. My boyfriend and I went there in anticipation of the food - which sadly dissappointed us - but then we ordered a slice of cheesecake... I swear - pure extasy. Everytime we have something to celebrate we look at eachother, sigh, and say together "cheesecake" and we mean only one place, Musso & Franks!!!!

40th B-day, 50 guests, tight budget, private room - Suggestions?

Have you checked with The Yellow Bungalow on Melrose and Pointsettia. They have a nice upstairs room and last time I checked it was very reasonable..

Romantic Valentines Dinner

Ooh - also I just remembered Yamashiro in Hollywood. The location was built as a replica of a 19th century Japaneese palace, incredibly beautiful and overlooks the city. Very romantic weather you sit at the windows overlooking the city or inside the Japaneese garden. Food is decent. Make sure to make reservations.

Steak! Inexpensive to Moderate $

Gaucho's Village in Glendale. Not exactly a steakhouse but a meat lovers heaven, live brazilian music (and dancers on Fri/Sat) Its all you can eat for $30 and the meat quality is as good as you can get. They're also set to open another restaurant called Charcoal next to the dome at the Arclight sometime this year.

Romantic Valentines Dinner

There's always L.A. Prime Steakhouse downtown. Its at the top of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel on Figueroa St between 4th and 5th streets. The views alone are worth it but its also an excellent steak house. You can also dine just below in the revolving bar and order from the steakhouse menu! Definitely romantic and if I remember not on the top of the price list either. Good Luck.

Reasonable Fish store in LA?

Depends on where in LA you live I guess but THE FISH KING in Glendale is hands down the best fish place I've found. I know people that drive from all over LA to buy their fish there. And they always have a good, fresh, quality selection.
