Alaskan King Crab

red lobster?

Smoke & Barrel

so i tried it out last night-had a half slab of dry ribs with sauce on the side. my friend got the pulled pork platter

i can't really say that you can taste the barrel-smoked element, but i will say that both were cooked very well, with nice overall flavour and not at all dried out. worth checking out.

Smoke & Barrel

bbq is the new DC cupcake

Mangialardo & Sons

i prefer the supersub to the g-man myself (hard roll). in response to danielle, the line of police cars, firetrucks, etc etc triple parked outside during lunch rush is a pretty good indication of quality.

i would add a literi to the list of good DC hoagies (above taylor, and vace, below the capri from the italian store) , but mangialardos is worth the trip.

Restaurants & Bars Featured in HBO's The Wire

in dc, Mc nutty goes to georgia brown's with the campaign manager

Crisfield Seafood Restaurant

the bisque...the bisque...

Irelands 4 green fields (also known as the old 4 provinces bar) on ct ave is alsoways fun. its by the uptown movie theatre--but get there early to avoid lines

Bayou Bakery -- NOLA in NOVA? -- Courthouse (Arlington)

i did a turkey, sausage and ham gumbo using the deepfried turkey leftovers, where the turkey meat retained the nice deep-fried consistency/taste, but used chicken stock/roux/dark beer.

Obrycki's??

worth it, but when you order, you need to specifically ask for fresh hardshells, not reheated precooked.

G Street Food Open!

i enjoyed the banh mi--great bread, but not worth a specific trip if its out of your way.

I also had a great corn chowder--overall they are still working out their kinks, but it is a welcome addition to neighborhood. i will be trying their sausage of the day options as well, as they did a great merquez sausage at breadline

Steaming crabs

smells like victory

Live crabs in DC?

its like buying flowers on valentines day. suck it up.

cameron's generally has good crabs-you might want to check out their 16th st store, which is closer. i just picked up a $20 dozen of large #1 males two days ago, and was quite pleased. they sell live or cooked.

straights of malay---great food, nice roof

Louisana Cooking

no sir, you are the one who has it wrong. shellfish shoud be steamed, not boiled. not everything should be cooked like a gumbo crab.

the problem is that these are typically chinese tails--less flavorful than the original.
