Best Mexican in NYC

I disagree about Toloache. Over priced and not memorable. never been to Empellon Taqueria, but if you don't mind going to the upper west side I really enjoyed AG Kitchen http://www.agkitchen.com/

Thanks! I'll absolutely check it out.

Bresse chicken in Beaune or Dijon

I'll be in Beaune & Dijon in a few weeks and would love to taste the famous Bresse chicken. I realize this chicken is not native to this region, but I'm hoping someone can tell me of a restaurant that serves it in either of these two towns.
I also need a suggestion for dinner in Dijon. Moderate priced (30-40 euros/person), traditional, and well prepared. Maybe a place the locals would choose??

Eating near St. Ouen Flea

I'll be going to the St. Ouen Flea Market, in the 18th, on a Saturday. Can anyone tell me where I should eat while walking the market?

I'm not opposed to some excellent street food, a wonderful bistro, or sandwich shop. Not familiar with this area at all so I can use a lot of help.
Oh, one more thing...I hate wasting a meal so if there's absolutely nothing noteworthy in this area then I can eat in another area.

Where can I get Fried Belly Clam Rolls in NYC?

I've been craving a fried belly clam sandwich, like the ones you get in New England. Problem is I live in NYC and haven't found a place here where I can get one. Oh, I know about Mary's Fish Camp & Pearl's, but they have small portions, not on a roll, for major bucks. Does anyone know of a place I can get a good fried clam sandwich? Not frozen strips, the ones with the bellies are what I crave.

Best food towns to visit in Burgundy Region

Thanks for all the input! I'd still love to hear from others about accommodations, markets, & maybe even a vineyard or 2.

Best food towns to visit in Burgundy Region

I've been in the cheese business for 20 years and want to see where Epoisses is made so the town of Epoisses will be my first stop. I've been doing some research in that area and as far as I can tell it's not a town known for its restaurants. I don't want to spend my 4 days in this area with out some spectacular meals. So can someone tell me what towns (besides Epoisses) I should be going to and where to eat in these towns.
I'm renting a car from CDG airport and driving down to this area first before going back to Paris for 4 days. The Paris restaurants are not a problem. Food is so important to me that I can be persuaded to change my plans in order to have a great gastronomic experience.
I'll be going in October so I was hoping to stop by some vineyards too.

Dinner dilemma. Angele in Napa, Redd Wood in Yountville, or Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch?

I'm a foodie from NYC who will be in the Napa area for 2 nights only. In other words 2 dinners. I've narrowed it down to the above 3 places; although I can be persuaded to change my mind if someone feels strongly about another place.

I love interesting, well prepared food that doesn't break the bank. Since I'm only here for a short amount of time I don't want to choose incorrectly.

What happened to "The Lion and the Toucan"?

Thank you so much!

What happened to "The Lion and the Toucan"?

After reading some very good reviews for this place, I had a couple of really wonderful meals at a new restaurant in the east village this summer called "The Lion and the Toucan". The dishes were interesting and very well executed. I could wait to go back for more.
This weekend I went back. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. Not only was it not good, it was bad, and one of my dishes was actually inedible. I wasn't surprised when the waiter informed me that the chef was recently replaced. Does anyone know where that chef went because that's the place I want to eat.

What's the best supermarket coffee for home brewing?

I buy the Whole Bean Original and grind it for a Bialetti. I'll try the Columbian version and see if that has more of the flavor I'm looking for. Thanks for all of your wonderful advise!

What's the best supermarket coffee for home brewing?

I've been using the "8 o'clock" brand of coffee because it's low in acid and not expensive, but I'm getting tired of it's tobacco like flavor.
I'll occasionally get better coffee like "Intelligentsia" but it's pricey for everyday use. I'd like something smooth, not bitter, not flinty, rich and deep flavored, but also not expensive. Something I would find in my local supermarket.
Any thoughts?

Is Blue Hill at Stone Barns worth the aggrevation of making a reservation?

Wow! I am a diehard foodie and have a little money to spare, but I had a feeling the experience had a lot to be desired. Thanks for saving me the expense and frustration.

Is Blue Hill at Stone Barns worth the aggrevation of making a reservation?

Thanks for all your input. We went there 2x when it first opened and wasn't that impressed. Was hoping it had become more interesting, but I guess not. You all saved us!

Is Blue Hill at Stone Barns worth the aggrevation of making a reservation?

I've been trying to get a reservation at Blue Hill at Stone Barns on a Saturday night for a while now. I call 2 months prior to the date I want and they never have an opening. I was also informed that if I was successful in getting my date I'd have to give them a credit card # as a guarantee.
Is this place worth pursuing?

Need help, great food in a casual spot

Recette in the west village is amazing! No need to dress up, but the menu and execution of it are worthy of a much higher priced and elegant restaurant.

Diner bread pudding

The bread pudding at Blue Ribbon is outstanding!
They usually have 2 different kinds so if you're having a hard time deciding you can get 1/2 & 1/2. The portion is more than generous so it can easily be shared, and of course they have a liquor license. Their fried chicken is wonderful too.

Need an interesting restaurant for special occasion

I'm a huge fan of the Bistro's in Paris like L'Ami Jean or Comptoire. Looking for a restaurant in Manhattan or even Brooklyn where I can get food like I do in Paris. Interesting combinations that are prepared with amazing perfection. Price range between $30-$40 for entrees, if less that's great. Balthazar is wonderful, but their fare is very standard. Craving something more interesting.

Help for Sunday Dinner

I'll be in Paris the end of February for 1 week. Have all my reservations in place except for Sunday night. Staying in the 7th but know my way around the Metro. Would like suggestions for moderate to inexpensive restaurants that are opened for dinner.
All ready booked L'ami Jean, Chez Dumont, Beurre Noisette, Afaria, La Baratin, Le Bistro Paul Bert.
Thanks!

Montreal for 3 days

I'm a foodie from NYC who'll be in Montreal for 3 days and need restaurant suggestions that are in the moderate price range. I'll be going to Au Pied de Cochon one night. Staying in the St. Denis (University) area but I'll have a car so I'm not limited to that neighborhood, but it's always nice not to drive.

L'ami Jean fixed price

I heard l'ami Jean has stopped offering their fixed price menu for both lunch and dinner. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if so is it lunch or dinner that's still fixed price and what's the cost.

Some Momofuku Q's

Only been to Noodle Bar and love it. If you don't mind a long wait you can go for dinner. If you hate to wait go at off hours like 2pm-5:30pm. Great buzz about the place and worth the wait. The "Mamofuku Ramen Noddle" dish is spectacular.

48 hours in Newport

I'll be going to Newport, RI at the end of May for 2 days. Can anyone recommend places to eat. Nothing too expensive. Love all kinds of food.

Don Pepe's in Queens

Has anyone been to Don Pepe's restaurant near JFK lately. Planning a family get together and this restaurant was recommended. Is the food good?

Cheese help please

Burrratta is probably what you're looking for. It's highly perishable so you won't find it in too many shops. It's imported from Italy & meant to be eaten within 48 hours of production. There is a company in Wisconson that makes it too. It's good but not as good as the Italian version. Try Zabar's, Dean & Deluca or Murray's, all in NYC. I'd call first to see if they carry it.

Les Halles - Downtown or Park Ave?

I second that. I've never been to the one downtown, but the Park Ave. location is very good.
