best mexican food on oahu

I know this thread is about mexican, but i highly recommend Souvaly in Pearl city for thai on Kam Hwy, across the street from Zippys. For Italian, i recommend Paesano in Manoa or Waimalu..similar to Assagio's. ! Have great weekend!

best mexican food on oahu

I have driven through Wahiawa and saw it many times..but from the looks of it outside, i wasnt sure about it. I will have to give it a try...Thanks for the review.

best mexican food on oahu

i tried both Diego's Tacos 1 and 2...and very disappointed. Barely found any meat inside and also light sprinkle of cheese and it was mostly tortilla. Don't bother. Azteca is pricey, but at least it tastes good!

Recommendations for Restaurants for Hot Pots and Shabu Shabu?

I am a big fan of hot pots and shabu shabu. There used to be an excellent place on the corner of Keeaumoku and King which has long time closed for shabu shabu. Can you guys recommend me some places? My husband can eat alot and the all-you-can-eat is appreceiated too.

I totally agree with KaimukiMan...Azteca is the only decent mexican on Oahu. Pricey, but good. I am from East Los Angeles and it is difficult to find REALLY GOOD MEXICAN. Last night went to Azteca and I tried their carnitas. Was pretty good!

We are regulars at Azteca. Jose's is horrible. Mexico is worse (total bland, I was shaking every bottle of hot sauce they had all over my food). Anyone try Los Palenque in Wahiawa?

Dairyu Ramen is back

my friend and i went,...and it was marginal. Ironically, as we were at the cashier paying for our tab, my friend saw behind the kitchen curtain the cook cutting meat..and scraping the knife on the side of the trash can! That was enough for us not to return as well.

Something Similar to Kaka'ako Kitchen in Kaimuki area?

Cafe Laufer on Waialae Avenue in Kaimuki! We are regulars there..The best coffee, desserts, salads, sandwiches. They have daily specials. Try their Pork Shank..sooo good. Owners are great people, say Hi to Cyrus and Steph !

Mexican Food on O'ahu

I too tried Diego's Tacos (Pearl City location is original) and the tacos were "meh." Maybe i will try the Carne Asada Buritto! Right now i only go to Azteca's in Kaimuki. But still hoping for a real mexican restaurant come to the islands!

OH I totally agree..Jose's in Kaimuki is the worst. Tried it once and was my last.

Anyone try El Palenque in Wahiawa? Looks really scary from the outside. http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-palenque-wahiawa

Pho Outside of Chinatown (Honolulu)

i tried Cuu Long Peal Kai and thought it was mediocre...didnt know why so many raved about it. I think because there are few places in this area. I recommend Green Papaya in Kalihi where King and Dillngham meet.

Mexican Food on O'ahu

11th Ave. Mexitlan is now closed.! I too have same background as Kaimuki Man..I am native californian and lived in East Lost Angeles. Ate in the barrios of ELA. Best place in Honolulu is Azteca. Iv'e tried them all and only eat at Azteca. I wish a real authentic Mexican Restaurant would come to Honolulu. The worst place is Mexico in Kalihi. I think many locals are not familiar with real good mexican and think its like "taco bell."

Best hole-in-the-wall (Honolulu)

Try Jin Joo in Waimalu shopping center, 2 doors down from shiro's. Best kalbi and homemade kimchee! Ono! Best hidden secret in central oahu!

Sunday Dinner in Waikiki

Niblick's is gone, it is now a Roy's but a more casual menu than the other Roy's restaurant. Caters to the golfers. I would skip the Roy's in Ko Olina. And by the way, did I say that Azul's at Ihilani has an awesome Sunday Brunch? Love it. While staying at the Ihilani, check out their spa...was once featured on the show Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous. I actually prefer staying away from Waikiki, too touristy. But if you do Waikiki, Nobu's is at the old Parc Hotel...but be prepared to pay alot for little portions..but the food is excellent.

Ox tails?

try asian grocery stores

Hawaii - which island has the best food offerings?

Agree, OAHU is the island..! Maui is second, Big Island of Hawaii (Kona) is third and Kauai is fouth in rating.

LBC-Good Eats

I attended Long Bch State during the 70s, now reside in Hawaii. Is Hamburger Henry's still there?

Sunday Dinner in Waikiki

I live in Hawaii...Sansei is a good choice. Alan Wongs is rated best restaurant every year, but is pricey (entrees are 35$).Skip Sam Choys. Prince Court has an excellent dinner and luncheon buffet (lunch is abour 25 and dinner is 40). Prince is one of my favorites. Hau Tree Lanai is hotel food, but the outdoor seating is nice. Halekulani Hotel, Orchids is a great place. For casual medium price place, I recommend is Duke's Waikiki Restaurant in Outrigger Hotel..they dont take reservations, and busy every night. All the restaurants at Aloha Tower are bad, except for Chais Island Bistro. The best kept secret and one of the best restaurants is on the other side of the island, at the Ihilani Hotel ...Azul's. Enjoy!

Best japanese Restaurant in San Gabriel Valley?

Thanks! Thats a great variation of Japanese choices. I used to Love Kayo (or Kaya) in Monterey Park, the old man retired..thanks for your suggestions...

Best japanese Restaurant in San Gabriel Valley?

I will be staying San Gabriel valley in July, want to hear everyone's recommendations for Japanese restaurant in SG Valley? Mahalo!

Where is the best Chocolate Souffle?

I am a native of LA, but now live in Hawaii for the past 18 years. One thing I miss the most is a real good Chocolate souffle. I remember going to Moustache Cafe on Melrose Avenue and Westwood Village but no longer is there. I am planning to come to LA this month, anyone tell me where I can find the decadent chocolate souffle?

Hawaii North Shore

I live in Hawaii...Forget Jurison's...tourist trap, pricey, bad food. A Must is Haleiwa Joe's, Kua Aina .. Forget Matsumoto's for shaved ice, again...a tourist trap. Best Shaved Ice is Baldwin's in Waimalu!!!
