Where to find good root beer?

My husband and I are on a root beer kick...the only problem is we're having a hard time finding anything more exotic than a&w and hires at the stores near us (chelsea). anyone have any favorites/suggestions for where to find them?

Maryland Blue Crabs with Old Bay

i've gotten them at city crab before, but their "jumbos" were tiny tiny. honestly, at this point, my husband and i just take a few trips to rehoboth a year and gorge.

non-butter dipping sauce for lobster?

my in-laws are coming to visit soon and they love getting lobsters from chelsea market and having a lobster dinner while they're here. my problem: I like lobster okay (I grew up on Maryland crabs), but dipping it in butter is just too rich and bland for me. I'd love a sauce...soemthing with more acid and zip....Anyone have any ideas or recipes?

taco cart on 14th and 8th...don't bother

Ugh. We have had some nice tacos etc. from the truck on the upper west side and decided to give the one on 14th a try. (we were coming back late from a concert--seemed like the perfect quick dinner option.) we waited FOREVER and the food was incredibly bland. never again.

crunchy chocolate chip cookie...

i appear to be in the minority, but i love crunchy cookies, not soft ones...i'm always bummed out when i go to a bakery and buy a cookie and discover it's soft. anyone with a similar preference who can give me a heads up on good crunchy cookies to be had (especially chocolate chip)....?

Foodie trying to get my toddler interested in vegetables...need help!

Wow, thank you all SO much for your responses. There are some great ideas in here. FYI, for those who say don't give him the mac-n-cheese or the chicken nuggets....I was totally with you...until we went to the pediatrician and found out our son was in the 7th percentile for weight. The doctor says he's fine and obviously healthy, but having him skip meals because he didn't want something freaked me out at that point, so I began trying everything. Having said that, they've become a crutch and we realize we need to do some more work here. I do have him cook with me, and I think it definitely helps--he's a big egg fan now, because he "helps" me scramble--but I need to do more of this, too. I think it'll get easier as he's a little steadier on his feet and on the stool he needs to reach the counter (right now I still have to keep a hand on him--makes cooking hard). I am going to print out this page, though, and start working through your suggestions. Thanks for giving me so many ideas to try!

Foodie trying to get my toddler interested in vegetables...need help!

Okay, so my husband and I were feeling really smug because, for awhile, our toddler ate everything. Now, he appears to be gravitating toward the typical kid diet of chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese and rejecting anything that looks weird. I've read this is part of the I-control-my-life phase common to almost-two-year-olds. But I'm still trying. Anyone been-there-done-that have any great recipes or ideas for how to tempt him away from mac-n-cheese? Thanks!

A Gourmet Basket/Meal for a New Mom?

when we had a baby recently, my mother sent us some of the steaks from omaha steaks, the ones with bacon wrapped around them. they were great and very easy to toss in the oven. we lived on them during those first weeks. and of course, they ship everywhere
