Good Italian Delis in Seattle Area

The closet ones, in my opinion, are 3000 miles east.

Nob Hill Vicinity Dining [San Francisco]

Driving myself nuts trying to figure out something in the area. Looking to keep the tab under $300, want something nice, well prepared and interesting. Besides Italian, No limits on cuisines. Side note, I do cook professionally and hence my interesting search.

New Yorkers coming in August

Revel doesn't take reservations and Joule does, both good at what they do.

New Yorkers coming in August

As former resident of NYC and current Seattle resident, I suggest you skip the Stowell/Douglas restaurants, in my opinion mediocre at best if you are coming from NYC. Joule/Revel are our current favorites. Poppy is very interesting.

Good Deli Rye

I went with the Brenner Brothers Zissel Rye, while not the best, it did the job it was needed to do quite well.

Exploring the area for a possible move....

In order from a person that was in your position. San Francisco of course is the tops,Portland rocks but while I chose Seattle as my new home the food is lacking.

Do Restaurant Owners Respond To Emails or Reviews? [moved from Seattle board]

Coming from a head chef owner, I would definitely return a direct email in a timely manner. It takes too much energy to sift through a bunch of anonymous comments. I tell everyone, if you have a problem address it immediately with a manager, that's what they are there for. And if it's a good manager, an establishment that cares and a honest problem it should be fixed with nothing but smiles and apologies. Don't go home and stew about it on the internet, by the time we may read it there is no way fixing it. And if you are too timid to speak to a manager, send a direct email and I'm sure the owner/manager will take all accounts in to consideration and try to keep you as a customer.

In Seattle for the first time with a baby!

As a father of a one year old and a restaurant professional, I say as long as you kid is well behaved any restaurant should be a go. I'm not recommending taking them to Canlis or the few(and Ii mean few) other uber fine dining establishments, but in general this city is pretty casual, call your choice ahead of time and you will be suprised how many folks do have high chairs. Good luck

Eclectic Tasting Menus in Seattle?

Sadly I have no restaurants to report to you that follow that criteria, if you find some please tell me. However I do suggest Revel, Spinasse and Bisato for some good meals in Seattle

Faux Pas: The Chef Was Texting

I'm sure the person texting was not the chef, probably lining up his late night activities. As a guy who has worked in a very popular NYC open kitchen it did irk me when my fellow cooks would text while on the line, it is very unprofessional looking, as is eating behind the line and wearing your pants too low(you know who I am talking about Mr. Top Chef Winner) As for interacting with the customer that is the greatest thing about working in an openkitchen, was always great to hear immediate feedback from the guests and just meet the people who are enthusiatic about what I am doing for a living.

Menu Item - 6 pack of beer for the crew?

My thing is why don't the owners of the restaurant show them appreciation and buy them the beer and pay them more if they are so proud of their service.

LA Hound Coming on Short Notice -- Help!

I've lived here for about 2 years now from NYC and in the restaurant business and would have to say not much of a wow factor here. Very dissapointing overall but I will say there are some solid selections on your list.
I would suggest
Spinasse
Revel/Joule
Book Bindery
Paseo
I would totally skip all Tom Douglas and Ethan Stowell restaurants. Mediocrity with good press for some reason sums them up.
Canlis is great
Also check out Poppy, alittle different and solid preparations.

Staple and Fancy question -- and more

I think you would be wasing your time and money going to that place if you put such restrictions on your diets. it is a chef driven menu and I feel like you would be dissapointed with any dish that needs to be augmented.

The Innovators: Ethan Stowell vs. Matt Dillon

I guess these two are innovative, if you have never left King County.Seriously, is Seattle so void of talent that these two are considered innovators? Crepe Stands? White Beans and chorizo..groundbreaking indeed.
