Authentic Mexican in Miami

I am from the carribean and the closest we came to authetic mexican was taco bell. So when i got here i started to eat at the local mexican joints here in Tampa and thought that was authetic....well I had to work in Mexico fir a month and when ihad the food there I realize what authentic meant. Its only in the last 3 years that i have found some place in Tampa that are close enought to what I had back in mexico.
So to try to answer ur question...authetic would be home made sauces..preferably a variety of them...home made tortillas..etc etc.

Its a shame you werent able to try out a local creole restaurant on the french side. I think the name was Yvette's. It should be in French Quarter.

Something different in Boynton, Delray, West Palm beach area..

These are all good suggestions, but I have had vietnamese and Mediterranean food. I live in Tampa and we have a ton load of those types of restaurants.
I did see a hondurian resataurand, but by then I already had lunch. For dinner i dont think it was open. Let;s see what i can find for breakfast or brunch on Sunday.

Thanksgiving dinner-to-go in Tampa

Ok. i appologize for not updating this. Last year I went to my local BBQ joint for lunch and in conversation with the cook he mentioned he would be busy the day before thanksgiving smoking turkeys. it seems like he does that every year for family and friends and sometimes for customers.
So the deal is take ur own turkey a week in advance and they will have it ready the day before or the day off IF you are willing to travel to them. Only thing you need to do is tip the cook..and be generous as the turkey will be extremely delicious.
The place is "Mike's Southern Classic BBQ‎" at 7117 N US Highway 301, Tampa, FL - (813) 626-5222‎

I will be staying at the Venetian. So lodging is set.
Any recommendations on what is the absoolute MUST to do while there? (ofcourse I am refering to places to eat).

A visit to St Martins

I agree. No need to bring anything (But Sunscreen). Its a bit more expenisve down there. Food will be available down there.
Also be adventurous and try new stuff. Try the local restaurants. Eat at a bistro on the french side, try any of the numerous ethinic restaurants down there.
Enjoy your trip.

Tampa - Hidden Gems?

Not sure if anyone ever mentioned this lil shack in in hudson beach. the sell fresh oysters dirt cheap. They also have clams and some other delicacies. but i mainly go for the oysters. Cant recall the name. it looks like it was or is a fish and tackle shop also.

Another hidden gem would be the Black Bull (Torro Negro) in kenneth City. 5780 54th Ave. N, Kenneth City. They are a pretty authentic mexican joint. Not fancy at all. But the food is great. u need to try their home made chip & salsas and their buritos.

For pizza i would recommend babe's pizza. I like te double decker.:-)
107 N Kings Ave, Brandon, FL. Off SR 60.

Oh yea, pretty sure you heard about this one already, but Yummy House is also great, just check other postings on it. Its east of armeni aave off waters ave.

Brazilian-style steakhouse coming to Tampa

Hey superman...hope u didnt go to that one in Oldsmar It was quite a dissapointment for me. i went there a long long time ago and the taste of the meat was nasty(I use that term loosely)
if i recall correctly, argentinian restaurants include blood sausages (morsilla) on their buffet. I dont think i got that at this one. i had to buy that seperatly. I might be mistaken but i was not happy with that place.
If u did or are going to try it, let us know how it was.
if anyone knows of argentinian restaurants in tampa let us know also. Miami has a good assortiment of them and they are great.

Brazilian-style steakhouse coming to Tampa

I have been to Brasa and Brasilia grill here in Tampa, and if I had no clue what a good churrasqueria should be like, I would say that both places were great! but I have also been to Texas de Brasil in Orlando and Dallas and I went to Fogo de Chao in Houston and Dallas .These were the best I have ever had and so far non of the ones in Tampa can compare to them.
I went to Brasa when they first opened and the taste of the meat was not good at all. it was like they fried the meat. the buffet was ok, but i was more interested in the meat. Maybe at that time they still needed to refine their craft so i wil need to give them a second chance.
Brasilia was the next one I had to try. that wasnt as good as i thought either. first off some item on the buffet went bad. a friend of mine who is has experience as a health inspector noticed that. we informed the chef and he agreed and took the items away. the meat wasnt as bad as Brasa, it tasted ok, but still not as good as TdB and Fogo. Again i went there when they first opened, so i will also give them a second chance.
i heard of another set of brazilian style restaurants opening in St pete area...anyone know anything about them?

PS. cant wait till someone opens up a Argentinian style SteakHouse. Even drinks are included! And they have morsilla (blood sausages).
