Marco's Coal Fired Pizzeria Denver Colorado

I ate at Marco's last week. I am not a wing fan at all, but I really liked the fresh taste of the coal-fired wings. The pizza I didn't think stood up to other coal-fired places like Lombardi's in NY. The crust wasn't crisp enough and the pizza I had was slightly soggy on the bottom. My waiter was enthusiastic and attentive even if it was obvious he didn't really know what 00 flour is or an Americano. I ate at a table facing the bar and the bartender kept playing with a toothpick in his mouth so there was no chance I was ordering another drink. I noticed the Nutella pizza was by far one of the most popular items.

Campbell's soup alternatives?

That aftertaste may have something to do with the huge amounts of sodium in canned soup. Or the metal can.

What's your favorite champagne? And a book review. [Moved from Not About Food]

Try Gruet--especially the blanc de noir. It is under $20 and made by a French family in Albequerque, New Mexico. Otherwise, try grower champagnes. Nearly all of the big, well known houses buy their grapes from Champagne's grape farmers. Many of these farmers make their own. Unfortunately only the better wine shops ever carry them. For names there is an importer named Thierry Thiese who brings several of them to the states. I'm sure he has a website out there. Most grower champages aren't that much less expensive than the Champagne houses but often the quality is much, much better.

Ethnic Restaurant for 14 in SF?

Alaturka (turkish) on Geary is inexpensive and very good. They have an upstairs area for larger parties.
