First night in New Orleans—seeking atmosphere, great food and drinks, out of doors preferably…
1. Bayona
2. Cafe Amelie
Going in mid-aug. What's in season?
Unfortunately, Napoleon House is not open on Sundays ;0(
Fine dining close to the Ritz
Bayona (http://www.bayona.com/) would be my choice as well. Very walkable from the Ritz, relaxing/intimate atmosphere, knowledgeable waitstaff, & most of all delicious food. They also do lunch on Saturdays. Enjoy!
Pre NOWFE (Days 4,5&6)
Yes, thanks for all your dining reports. Too bad you didn't make it to Herbsaint (another one of our favorite lunch spots). Be sure to keep it on the list & next time don't let your husband's cravings change your well thought out plans ;0)
My Pre-NOWFE Eating Report (Day 2)
Another mouthwatering report!
Bayona is our favorite place for lunch in the Quarter. My husband & I have eaten there many times & have tried a variety of dishes, & have never been disappointed. We bought Susan's new cookbook... now if only!
Have yet to try Gautreau's, but it's on the 'To Do' list.
Thanks cc. Looking forward to #3!
My Pre-NOWFE Eating Report (DAY 1)
Thanks for the report & photos. Now I'm hungry... is it lunch time yet?
Confused: Bayona, Herbsaint
Both! Delicious food in two different atmospheres. Both Bayona & Herbsaint are excellent!
If You Had To Choose??
Bayona... & Happy B/D! I'll be celebrating mine there next month.
Joe Dons farewell to his 5 most missed restaurants post katrina RIP
Cafe Sbisa reopened late last year, but closed again (partner issues). Haven't read anything about it lately. We wanted to try it, but we weren't quick enough. Anyone have any news?
romantic restaurant for 5 year anniversary
Ditto on Cafe Amelie & Bayona. Both have beautiful settings. CA's courtyard is magical, but prefer Bayona's food. Can't go wrong with either. Congrats & enjoy!
Faves in the French Quarter?
Bayona, Mona Lisa, Maximo's, Napoleon House, & Cafe Amelie. Enjoy!
Jacques-Imo's Cafe Spinach Salad
southportchow, Report back on Jacques-Imo's spinach salad dressing ingredients: plum vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, & sesame seeds. I didn't get the amount of ingredients, that's where the fun in the kitchen begins!
Jacques-Imo's Cafe Spinach Salad
I can't help you with the recipe, but just wanted to sing Jacques-Imo's praises & agree with you... the spinach salad is delicious! My husband & I ate at Jacques-Imo's for the first time last night & everything we ordered was excellent. Beginning with the cornbread muffins & cocktails, then your favorite spinach salad, & the entrees, BBQ shrimp & mahi-mahi, & sides of mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, & corn macque choux. Mmmmm, Mmmmm! We were too content for dessert, but I'm sure they likewise would be great.
We are planning to make a return visit within the week & will ask about the spinach salad recipe.
