Birthday dinner

Hello all,

I'm trying to organize a dinner for 8 foodies. Price isn't an issue.
Just looking for a fun restaurant (where you can hear one another) and great food.
I'm debating between Sel Gras and Anabel bar et vin.

Erin Mills / Mississauga

Thanks everyone!

Erin Mills / Mississauga

Will be venturing out to Mississauga, near Erin Mills this week.
I've never been to the area.
Any amazing restaurants to recommend? No food or price restrictions.

Tarragon Wine Vinegar in TO

Does anyone know where I can find tarragon wine vinegar in downtown Toronto?

Le Canard Libere

Passed by yesterday and there was a sign up saying they were having problems with the ventilation and were closed. Does anyone know when they'll reopen? I'm really craving some duck poutine!

Beef ribs

Hi all,

Where can I find some delicious beef ribs? Was out for dinner the other night & watched my friends lick their fingers clean after some baby back ribs and now I have a huge craving. I don't eat pork though, so any beef options out there??

Chu Chai

Has Chu Chai been closed for the last few months? Are they set to reopen any time soon?
I've been trying to make reservations for the past few days to no avail and through my online searches have found a few posts mentioning that they may be closed...Has anyone been in the area lately to confirm?

Fresh fish

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Made it out to Poissonnerie PA & they were super helpful!

Fresh fish

Aside from Waldman's on St-Laurent, where is there to buy good quality fresh fish in the plateau area? Any suggestions?

I'll extend this to further south as well, st-henri/atwater market area, even the old port. I'll be passing by after work today and won't be able to make it before 6 (I think the market closes then?)

Boca Iberica

Hi all,

Was walking on St Laurent the other day and just noticed a sign for Boca Iberica on Rachel. Anyone have information on this place??

Visiting Montreal Mid-April - Must visits please

For fun & yummy brunch within walking distance from your hotel there's Le Cartet. Lines can get long on weekends, but browsing in their little gourmet food boutique at the front of the restaurant can make the time go by quickly!

Restaurant de Glace Pommery from January 6th 2012 until March 31th, 2012

I think I happened to go on the same weekend as Rooibus and had a similar experience, unfortunately. As far as I was explained, if you are dining for lunch, you must pay the entrance fee to the park; however, as dinner is more expensive, the entrance fee is waived. Of course that's only what they told me when I got to the park, after calling the restaurant info line and being told the entrance fee would be waived. Overall, I was definitely happy to have seen the entire village, so the entrance fee was worth it, but if I had to do it again, I think I would skip the lack lustre lunch and just tour the village. The best part of my meal was ending with a satisfying hot chocolate, which I'm sure could have been supplied at the bar instead. I can't comment on dinner, hopefully its a much better experience!

Julieta Cuisine Latine

Has anyone tried this recent addition to Montreal's latin restaurants? I think it opened around Nov 2011. I didn't find a website, but they do have a facebook page with plenty of fabulous looking pictures.

montreal for 2 days: french bistro, foie fras and poutine

Just tried the poutine today at Le Canard Libéré and it was amazing! French fries made with duck fat and the gravy as well. Mine came with pieces of duck, but there was another with foie gras. I had it for lunch & I'm still salivating. Its part restaurant, part gourmet food boutique and they sell many types/sizes of foie gras. All of their duck products are by Brome Lake, as they are the owners. I don't know how its taken me so long to try this place and I can't wait to go back!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to try out a new brunch spot this weekend. Has anyone tried out Fabergé? Any opinions?
Or any other suggestions?
I've already tried Le Cartet, Griffintown Café, Universel, les Enfants Terribles, Quoi de n'oeuf, and L'Avenue.

Thank you!

recommendations for st. denis / st. catherine?

Juliette et Chocolat is nearby...Great for coffee/dessert and even breakfast if you want to treat yourselves!

Montreal Wedding Venues - Sept 2012

Their website says reopening early 2011. I guess that didn't happen?

Montreal Wedding Venues - Sept 2012

I don't have much information about it, but I have seen pictures of weddings at Trinity, a greek restaurant on Drummond street. The pictures look beautiful and I've heard good things about the food, but I'm not sure about the size. Also known to be an expansive venue.

Birthday dinner

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to make reservations for my boyfriend's 25th birthday, for 2 people.
I have already made reservations at L'Orignal and Le Local, but I don't know which one to choose. I'm also debating between Garde Manger, Joe Beef, Tapeo and Le Filet.
He loves his meat (except pork), red wine, and a great salmon tartare too.
Price isn't a consideration.
We may be young, but we love to eat good food. He's a little more of a homebody when it comes to food, loving to cook his own. Since I can't cook, I'd like to make it a special night.
Recently tried Pintxo's, Les trois petits bouchons, and Icehouse and loved them all.

What are your thoughts??

North Bay

Hi all,

I'm a foodie from Montreal working in Temiscaming in June. Any restaurants to try in North Bay while I'm up there??

Mini cocottes

Hi all,

I just received some mini cocottes as a gift and am now wondering what I can make in them. Does anyone have any recipes tailored to these? Soups, mains, or desserts, anything is welcome except recipes involving pork/ham.

Berri Station

Hi all,

Any recommendations for a monday night, close to the Berri-UQAM bus station?
Any cuisine, more of a casual dinner spot with good food, and on the quieter side. Also nothing too expensive, if possible.

Take out in the old port

Hi everyone,

I"m staying at the Delta hotel in the old port next weekend and I'm looking for any restaurant that delivers, or a restaurant for take out near by. Any suggestions?

Last minute questions

Hi all,

I wanted to make some last minute dinner reservations for tonight...
I'll be going out with a friend and while both of us appreciate good food, I like to try out new places, but he would prefer to cook himself.
We're both students, so on somewhat of a budget, but we do like to eat!

I had a few ideas, Les Enfants Terribles, Trois Petits Bouchons, Tasso Bar A Mezze, and Chao Phraya. Very different restaurants, I know, but all places I haven't tried yet.
Looking to spend around $60-70 without drinks.

What do you guys think?

And, does anyone know if Les Enfants takes reservations?

In need of date spots in the city for dinner &/or drinks

For tapas and great wine try Pullman's on Parc corner Sherbrooke.
There's also L'Assommoir on Bernard or in the old port that has amazing drinks and great ceviche, the only thing is that it can get pretty loud.

Hey all,

I'm planing on going to kitchenette tonight with some friends and I just finished reading their menu online. Everything sounds great! Any thoughts / must haves ??

What's the general opinion on this place?

Vegetarian in the Old Port

Hi all....

Trying to find a trendy restaurant in the old port, with good food of course, for a group of 30 year olds. Needs to have several vegetarian or fish options.
Has anyone tried out Grange Vin et Bouffe? Does it fit the bill?
How about Graziella? Vauvert?
Any other suggestions?

BYOW Laurier area

Thanks for all of your suggestions!
