Kid friendly in Seattle near Westin?

Thanks for all your replies. It was just what I was looking for.

I've got a followup question on Palace Kitchen- in looking at the Tom Douglas restaurants, I also saw that the Dahlia Lounge was nearby as well. In comparing the menus, am I correct that Dahlia Lounge is more casual than Palace Kitchen? Any other differences between the two?

Kid friendly in Seattle near Westin?

I'm looking for kid friendly, chowish restaurants in Seattle near the Westin. We will not have a car on this trip.

We have 2 kids, ages 10 and 7. The 10 year old is a chowhound in training and will eat most anything, but the 7 year old's diet consists of mostly things that are yellow and white (chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, quesadillas, french fries, milk, etc.).

The food doesn't have to center around his interests, but as long as there's something on the menu he can eat, we're good. I'd also prefer to stay away from any chain restaurants that can be found nationally.

Thanks!

Wine seller in South Bay?

Thank you all! Lots of options, and I don't have to drive too far!

So what is Mitarashi Dango?

The curry pan from last year were the best ones I've EVER had. Bummer.

Wine seller in South Bay?

I need to buy a few bottles of wine for a group of about 30-40, but would prefer not to pull stuff blindly off the shelf.

Any recommendations for a place in the South Bay where I can get advice? I'm looking at wines up to about $25/ bottle. Thanks.

Costco "Ultimate Fish Sticks"--yay or nay?

Thumbs up to these fish sticks- I've been an fish stick addict since childhood, and these are amongst my favorites.

However, just a few weeks ago, we found something similar at Costco that our kids like even better. In the fresh fish section, we bought some breaded tilapia fillets and the kids just absolutely devoured them. We've gone through a big package of these fillets weekly . My kids call them "grown up fish sticks."

Scottsdale- Kid friendly near Kierland?

Thank you all for the suggestions- sounds like there's a ton of options nearby.

Scottsdale- Kid friendly near Kierland?

Thank you for the fast reply- I appreciate it.
With my younger one being picky, we'll likely be heading to one of those locations, but are there any alternatives that are more unique that are in the area?

Scottsdale- Kid friendly near Kierland?

I'm looking for kid friendly restaurants near the Westin Kierland for lunch/ dinner. We've got a chowish 9 year old and a 6 year old who lives off of pasta, chicken nuggets and anything cheese based (grilled cheese, quesadillas, mac and cheese, etc).

I'm open to anything from casual (Oregano's?) to upscale, as long as the place has a kid's menu.

Best for party trays/catering: Bruddah's, Gardena Bowl or Happa's (or The Local Place or Loft?)

Agree with the Loft. We've used their catering several times- absolutely no problem with their service at all.

We've even used their back room (past the bar) for birthday party brunches for our kids.

I have no idea if any of the other places do catering- L and L (Crenshaw and Lomita) also caters, but I prefer The Loft.

Help! Need a business lunch spot in Gardena

Aioli has gone downhill since it was sold a couple years ago- I liked it when it first opened, but the quality has really slipped since the ownership change.

The original owner of Aioli seems to enjoy the challenge of opening up new restaurants, building it up, then selling it to try a new venture. He opened up Samba in Redondo (which I think has been closed a while since they had a fire).

Help! Need a business lunch spot in Gardena

The Depot in Torrance is a nicer lunch place, and just a few minutes away - it's near Van Ness (Cabrillo, actually) and Torrance. We've had lots of business lunches and dinners there.

Need to CARB up for Disney 1/2 marathon Where??

I think our family will be going to Buca di Beppo on Harbor the night before the half, as it's close to where we are staying (Hyatt in Garden Grove).

The Mint - anyone eaten there?

Agree with Muskrat- if you want seating, you have to have dinner reservations. I think there were only about a dozen tables the night we went. All of them were reserved for dinner.

We didn't have dinner there. The night we caught a show, we were driving around the area, looking for food. We wound up at Versailles, which is a couple minutes away by car.

Getting in asmuch as I can at MILK-please help!

We went today as well- it was our first time visit. We don't normally get out to this part of town much, but we were going to the American Girl Store at the Grove. We decided to go here as my 4 year old likes anything dairy- so how could we pass up a place called MILK. He had the Cookies and Cream bar, my daughter had the Milky Way shake, and my wife and I split a blondie sundae (blondie brownie/ vanilla ice cream/ praline pecans (I think) and carmel). There was a vanilla tres leches cake that was calling my name as well, but I passed...

One of the workers in the kitchen was especially kind. As it was a little chilly outside, we ate indoors at two tables for 2 in the back hallway, which was no big deal. He saw us through the glass in the kitchen, came out, and offered to move tables around to accomodate us.

Curry bread (aka Curry-pan)

I like this quest...

I just had the one at Marukai Market in Torrance (Hawthorne and Sepulveda). I really liked the filling. I also like the Curry House ones. Agree that Famima's was nothing special.

Mitsuwa in Torrance has a decent one. The Marukai Pacific Square in Gardena has a new bakery which has curry-pan; I haven't tried it yet, but it's next on my list.

dinner in Torrance after 8 pm?

I think most of the chain restaurants are open late enough to suit your needs.

As far as quick, casual, and open late, maybe something near one of the piers/ beach cities? I'm thinking off the top of my head, but specific options in your area could include The Kettle in MB, Redondo Beach Brewing, and the El Burrito Jr near Albertsons.

So how is the food at Lucky Strike?

Westsider needs recs...moving on down to South Bay

For a more upscale breakfast, I like Chez Melange- they've got things like Creme Brulee French Toast, Bananas Foster pancakes, Eggs Mignon. In fact, we like the breakfasts much more than their lunch/ dinner menu.

Here's a link to a sample of their brunch menu.

Also love Eat at Joes for a more casual breakfast.

Lunch w/ 8 year old near the Grove/ Farmers Market?

Thank you all for your suggestions- it's extremely helpful.
Hungrygirl, American Girl does have their own cafe- I called a week ago to try and make reservations, but they were completely booked.

Lunch w/ 8 year old near the Grove/ Farmers Market?

I'm taking my 8 year old daughter to the American Girl store at the Grove tomorrow, and am looking for a place to take her out to lunch. We live in the South Bay, so I'm trying to avoid anything I can find near our home (like Cheesecake Factory). She's a fairly typical kid in terms of food likes and dislikes. Any suggestions?

Hawaiian plate lunch

BTW, Harry's is gone now (one of my friends owned it for a short time). It's been replaced by a branch of the Loft. This one isn't as good as the one on Hawthorne in Torrance.

Other places are Gardena Bowl shop, and TNT in Torrance/ Redondo. I was told the old owners Gardena Bowl now run TNT.

Meeting spot between LA and the OC?

We take our kids to Kings Hawaiian in Torrance, or Misto in Torrance. There's also El Plollo Inka in Gardena and Torrance- though they don't have a formal kids menu, they have chicken and rice. Kincaids seafood at the Redondo Beach Pier has kids stuff. Another option is Samba in Redondo for Brazilian BBQ- once again, no formal kids menu, but they have meat and rice. Samba does get loud when they bring the dancers out.

Meeting spot between LA and the OC?

How old are the kids? (i.e., what kind of food do you think they would be willing to try?)

Unique Donuts

A third recommendation for Stans, as they are unique. Love anything there with peanut butter. I also like their blueberry buttermilk donuts.

South Bay Favorites (VERY LONG)

In Gardena, the Marukai Pacific Market (on Redondo Beach Blvd.) has a bunch of take out options. They have a bunch of stalls for take out- among them include Sea Empress, Back Home in Lahaina, Beard Papa cream puffs, and Shin Sen Gumi yakitori. There are a few tables inside the market for eating in.

I also like the shave ice at Teri Hawaii on Artesia, and the supernachos at Josie's Place on Normandie (a true hole in the wall). I haven't been to the Gardena Bowl Coffee shop in several years, but Chris Cognac featured it recently on Culinary Detective.

The Loft in Torrance has a good Sunday brunch for about $10. Nothing fancy, but they have Island Fried Chicken, Portuguese Sausage, teriyaki chicken and beef, spam, fried rice, pancakes, kalua pork lumpia, etc.

Anyone have any favorite pizza places?

South Bay Favorites (VERY LONG)

Kona Crisp has one of the best chili cheese fries in LA. I think the chili was made from scratch, topped with real cheese, and a little bit of sour cream. I also liked the teriyaki avocado burger (reminds me of Magos in West LA). Pulled pork sandwich was just ok.
