Rosey's BBQ coming to Ambler!
I finally made my way over to Ambler to check out Rosey's last night. Wow, was it a disappointment! Every item was below par. The Chicken and ribs were dry and the sauce was almost sickening sweet. The cheese on the mac wasn't even melted - dry and funky tasting. The ribs up the street at Phil's are much, much better.
Anything good near Parx Casino?
Hi,
I'm taking my wife to Parx for a couple of hours of gambling. Is there a decent restaurant anywhere in the area? All I can find are the typical chains. We will eat almost any cuisine, we just want something that is good. Can anyone help?
McMenamins closed?
Went to McMenamins hoping for some chicken wings and found it closed. Does anyone know what happened? There weren't any signs about being on vacation.
Any recommendations for great wings in the Mount Airy/Chesnut Hill area?
Hot roast beef sandwich
My daughter's birthday is this weekend and she is requesting a hot roast beef sandwich. Where can I find a great example in Manhattan?
Thanks for your help!
Peter Luger - Slightly off topic
Before I get to my review, I would like to thank everyone for all your help! We decided to use the subway both to and from the restaurant. It was fast and nicely air conditioned. We didn't encounter any problems what so ever.
Let me sum up the meal by saying that the food was incredible. Maybe we were just lucky, but I can't believe that there are threads on this forum that call PL nothing but hype.
We arrived at PL right on time and had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. I ordered a Brooklyn Lager and my wife ordered the house beer. I thought that the PL brand was slightly more flavorful. In any case, it was a good start to the evening (my birthday dinner). We were given a bread basket with nice assortment of crusty bread. We were slightly under whelmed with our bacon appetizer. It was more like a small piece of dry ham than a bacon strip. The Porterhouse for three came a perfectly done medium rare. It was the finest piece of beef our family has ever eaten. My wife had to warn me about making obscene noises as I savored every bite. The creamed spinach was every bit as good as the steak. Our other sides (french fries and broccoli) were also great. We shared a piece of cheesecake, sundae and the fraiche for dessert. The sundae was fantastic, the cheescake very good and the fraiche was just overkill.
All in all, it ranks with the best meals I've ever eaten. Also, our waiter was patient and polite.

Thanks for all the information! It looks like my best bet will be to take the subway to PL's and a cab back. I'll report back next week on the trip.

Thanks - do you have an idea of how long it would take to get the restaurant from Times Square at rush hour?
Peter Luger - Slightly off topic
Hi,
Please forgive me, I know that Peter Luger is in Brooklyn, but I will be staying in the Times Square area next week. I have a Friday night reservation at 6:00 PM for Peter Luger. How difficult will it be to catch the subway over to Brooklyn at that time of night? I will be dragging my wife and two girls (7 and 11.) How much time should I allow to get there?
Also, any suggestions for what to order - entree, sides and dessert?
Thanks,
Ted
Best gnocci in the area?
I tried it last weekend and was not impressed. Average pizza and mediocre pasta. The meatballs in the meatball parm were good, but they used a lousy roll. The place is clean and decorated nicely, but it's nothing special. And yes, it's located right next to Tamarindo's.
Good food near Washington Court Hotel?
Hi,
I'm a foodie from Philadelphia who will be spending a Saturday and Sunday in Washington, DC. I'll be down with my family (wife and 2 girls 10 and 6). We will be doing the normal tourist things, but we want to make sure we get some great DC food! We have no special preference for cuisine or cost. Is there any great food within walking distance of the hotel?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Ted
Lake Placid - Good food (children)
Thanks so much for the suggestions. Any recommendation for Pizza or Chinese?

Lake Placid - Good food (children)
Hi,
My family (2 daughters age 5 and 9) will be spending a week in Lake Placid at the end of the month. We love all types of food and are hoping to find some great places to eat. Does anyone have some recommendations for restaurants that have good food and don't mind children?
Thanks,
Ted
Great restaurants that are always empty...
I second this post wholeheartedly. My wife and I love La Cava, but have been the only ones in there on several occasions. We try to tell everyone we know about it, but people seem unwilling to try a place that doesn't have a predictable menu and chain-like food. Sadly, every time we drive past there, we expect to see a CLOSED sign.
Tony A's ?
Tony A's is pathetically bad. Why don't you try Palermo's right across the street. It's much, much better. If you want an awesome cheese steak, go to Pudge's on 202.
Restaurant near 10th and Spruce
My wife and I will be going to a fringe festival show near 10th and spruce next weekend. We love most types of food and just want some great food while we are in town. Price is not a factor. Any ideas?
Sat. dinner near 2nd & Washington
My wife and I have show at the Mummer's Museum on Saturday night. I don't know the area well at all and need a recommendation for dinner. We will be dressed casual (jeans and button down shirt). We love italian, mexican, seafood and good american. We would be eating around 6:00 PM.
Thanks!
