Napa - Chase Cellars

Oh, I meant to ask about Hagafen, too. Thanks so much!

Napa - Chase Cellars

Hello,

We're taking a tour around Napa soon and one of the stops is supposed to be Chase Cellars. Does anyone have any thoughts on this winery?

Twisted Root - Richardson

Hi Everyone,

Have any of you ventured out to the Twisted Root in Richardson? I really like the food at the Deep Ellum location and am wondering if the quality seems to be the same in Richardson.

I want to take some friends there who don't want to go downtown, but I don't want to disappoint.

Thanks in advance!
Steph

Best cookies in Dallas

Tried one truffle at Doughmonkey, but I agree with 8 2 Much.

Love the snickerdoodle. I know the chocolate cookie at Doughmonkey gets rave reviews. However, I don't care for coffee and can really pick up on the espresso. Still love Doughmonkey and Tiff's Treats.

My new favorite? The chocolate chip oatmeal cookie at Jackie Spratt's. I guess others agree, as it's sold out a lot of times when I pop in.

Sunday night dining in Dallas?

For a great steak and other great items, try Al Biernet's. It's nearby where you will be staying.

Another great place open on Sunday is Arcodoro Pomodoro. It's not too far away. If you have access to a car, it has fantastic Italian food.

Mike Anderson's BBQ- Dallas

Personally, I really like Anderson's BBQ. I think the brisket is pretty good. I love to go in and get a plate. Friendly and good food.

I also really love the side dish that has Poblano in it, what it is called escapes me at the moment.

Turkey Burger - Dallas

Well, I love a great juicy beef burger. My waistline needs to find a great juicy turkey burger. Does this exist? Also, does it exist in Dallas?

Thanks!

Rome, GA - Atlanta - Macon

Hello All!

A few questions..

Dallas hound who once lived in N.Ga. here :). The family is going on a trip to Georgia soon. We'll be in Rome,GA for a few days, then driving down to Macon,GA. I haven't been to Rome since 2000 and am sure things changed food wise (hopefully).

Any great places to eat in either spot that tolerate well-behaved 3 year olds? Also, I'm up for an upscale casual and nice atmosphere spot (read: date night) in Macon/Warner Robins, but not in Rome.

Please nothing in Atlanta, as I have that day planned in my mind ;). Although, I'm willing to be swayed in terms of an ice cream place (love Paolo's, may try Morelli's).

Sorry this is so long, I just don't remember much in terms of food in Rome.

No seafood places, please. :).

Thanks for any help!

Calistoga to Napa - Question

Hello!

My friend and I are visiting the area (Sonoma and Napa Valley) this weekend and have a few questions. I received fantastic advice last year when I posed a question :).

One day, we have a tour driver taking us around Napa Valley. The wineries do not seem to be too close to each other. However, since I'm not driving, guess it doesn't matter much! Could someone please give me their input on these wineries? I searched and only saw some mentioned a few times. It's of note we are starting in Calistoga. I just want to see if people have a generally positive opinion of these places.

Also, we have an appt for the olive oil tasting at round pond this weekend. I've heard great things but am hesitant to head into that part of the valley - being the holiday weekend. Wondering if I should just steer clear of that area that day..

Von Strasser - in Diamond Mountain District
Failla
Tres Sabores w/ picnic
Kuleto Estate

Wondering if we should add a fifth winery to the tour or head somewhere by ourselves upon returning to Calistoga?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Pregnant woman needs suggestions!!

Regarding Toffee:

Wiseman House chocolate in Hico (http://www.wisemanhousechocolates.com) makes an extremely yummy toffee. You can order online - OR - go to Paper and Chocolate (Inwood Village (http://www.paperandchocolate.com/). Paper and Chocolate sells their toffee and a few other select Wiseman items.

DFW Cupcakes

Let's see..

I love Society Bakery. The cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are very good.
Dallas Affaires makes great HUGE (no,really, they are huge) cupcakes with butter cream frosting - YUM.
Would love to try DoughMonkey.

Have to say that I am not a huge Sprinkles fan - only like a few flavors. Find most to be dry.

Also, I don't like Tart either (sorry freelisa!). I can't recall why, but I threw the last cupcake I had from there away.

When you find the best, let us know! I am always searching as well :).

Natsumi - Frozen Deliciousness (Dallas)

Have to say that I love this place as well. Wanted to post and sing its praises :).

Love the Guava yogurt with granola and the Roasted Almond. They are both fantastic.

I see that Pink Grapefruit is now the yogurt flavor? Darn, now I have to return.

Dallas Late-night Dining

Kenny's Wood Fired Grill

It's a bit north (Beltline and the Tollway). However, the food is really good and it's open until 1:30am on the weekends).

What are you drinking right now?

Last night we drank Zinie de Potelle 2004 (Chateau Potelle in Napa Valley). It's their late harvest Zinfandel, very sweet. My husband and I enjoyed this very much with a few pieces of chocolate.

Wedding Cakes in Dallas

Dallas Affaires is one of my favorite backeries in town. We used them for my wedding and I could not have been more pleased.

As for Delicious Cakes - I've tasted their cakes as well. They are pretty good. I have to say, though, I've heard a few horror stories in terms of the cake being delivered. So, watch out for that.

I love La Duni's cakes, but don't have experience with a wedding cake there.

ATL (Mableton, Smyrna) prepared meals

Hi fellow hounds! Texas hound drifting over to your board.. :).

I need some help. I need to find a place with great prepared meals (for a family who is in and out of home, medical problems). I've used Super Suppers here in Dallas, but was not that impressed.

Is there something similar in town, aside from Super Suppers? The meals can either be prepped (but not cooked) or freezable.

Perhaps a local store that has frozen casseroles? I appreciate any help!

Thank you so much.
