Trying to find Kaiser rolls

I was thinking the same thing. I'm also from the east coast and found the kaiser rolls from the Safeway bakery to be the closest to what I remember.

Where to buy Buffalo Wings for Super Bowl party?

Check Costco for uncooked, seasoned wings. Don't remember the price but I know they were considerably cheaper than what you listed. They were available at my Reno, NV location this past weekend.

Leftover Week

I did that the first 2 weeks of this month and I was amazed at how many meals I was able to put together. There are 3 of us so a few times we weren't all able to have the same thing due to the portion size of what was frozen. For the most part, I just served them as they were since I was kind of burned out after the holiday cooking. It was great because we saved a ton of money, made my life easier and nothing went to waste.

new refrigerator

We just built a new house and we ended up with an LG French door counter depth refrigerator. I have been very happy with it. Lots of ways to configure the shelves etc, nice LED lighting, all the bells and whistles.

This is the first time I have had a counter depth fridge and while it's more than sufficient for the everyday needs for the 3 of us, when my large family came for the holidays I definitely needed the fridge in my garage for the overflow.

Ice Water in Restaurants

Just because it's cold doesn't mean you won't get thirsty. I live in the Sierra where it's cold all winter too but I do like to have something to drink when having a meal.

Cooking Resolutions

Recently ran into some financial obstacles so I want to really stick to a food budget. I also want to make an effort to use up what I've already purchased instead of deciding I want something else and running to the store on a whim.

Keurig Coffee Maker

The SF Bay cups are also available at Costco at least in the Nor Cal/Northern NV locations. They are quite good and more reasonably priced.

Questions on thanksgiving post...

That is genius! I always stuff the bird and then make another pan in the oven. The oven baked batch never turns out to my liking even when I add drippings from the turkey. I would never have thought to use your trick but I will be doing it this year!

Birthday party at winery in Sonoma/Napa?

We went to a wedding reception at Kunde winery in Sonoma that was fantastic. They have several different event areas. The reception we attended was at the very top of the hill on their property. There were about 50 people there. A spectacular setting, really good food and wine. Also, they had new beautiful indoor restroom facilities which were much appreciated.

SUPERBOWL thread

Lagasse stadium in the Palazzo/Venetian is a great place to watch and the food isn't bad either. Todd English PUB comes to mind as well.

Oh poor you...what a drag about your house. I hope you have more room than I do. I have no space in this room especially now that I have gone Christmas shopping! If I had more space, I would have bought one by now. My new house should be ready in 3 weeks so I am going to tough it out but the 1st thing I am going to do when I get settled is make a roast turkey and all the trimmings.

Should restaurants leave the tails on shrimp?

I hate when restaurants do this especially in a dish that is not meant to be eaten with your hands. I always take them off at home and the thought of eating them disgusts me.

Thanksgiving disaster!

Good for you. Now you know and you can move forward and it great that you have your husband's support. Believe me, over time you will be very happy that you have this stress out of your life.

CHOW Reviews: SodaStream Source Soda Maker

I bought one for my son and he loves it. It seems to work very well and no problem finding the syrups or the refills. You can save a bit using a Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon. They have a pretty good selection of the syrups and accessories as does Target.

My FIL used to buy these from one of their stores. He loved them but I thought they were absolutely awful. Not even as good as your average supermarket steak.

That is a long running gag gift between my husband and his 3 brothers. Every Christmas someone gets one. A couple of years ago, my husband asked me to pick one up and I was shocked by how expensive they had gotten.

What about when the giver is only concerned with the price? I have ended up with junk off the Wal-Mart clearance rack that is so different from anything that I would like that it's like they never met me. I have no problem with anyone shopping on a budget because I do too but please, I would rather have a nice note.

With that being said, I do thank them warmly for the the gift and then donate it or pass it on.

I still see this at Target or Walgreens during the holidays. I am always tempted but have never given in. I have a bit of a kitchenware and gadget issue. I realized just how much during this last move and I have resolved to only buy what I actually need. We will see how long that actually lasts ; )

Maybe You Can Fix That Broken Keurig Coffee Maker

Mine bit the dust after 2 years. I called Keurig and while they didn't replace it for free, they did give me 50% off a new machine. It was a slight upgrade from the one I had as they didn't make that particular model any more. Their price was about $25 cheaper than I could have purchased a new one from Costco.

Good to know. I would not have thought to butter first. I make a lot of toast and it would be great to just have the one on the counter.
