Birthday party at winery in Sonoma/Napa?

We went to a wedding reception at Kunde winery in Sonoma that was fantastic. They have several different event areas. The reception we attended was at the very top of the hill on their property. There were about 50 people there. A spectacular setting, really good food and wine. Also, they had new beautiful indoor restroom facilities which were much appreciated.

Lagasse stadium in the Palazzo/Venetian is a great place to watch and the food isn't bad either. Todd English PUB comes to mind as well.

Oh poor you...what a drag about your house. I hope you have more room than I do. I have no space in this room especially now that I have gone Christmas shopping! If I had more space, I would have bought one by now. My new house should be ready in 3 weeks so I am going to tough it out but the 1st thing I am going to do when I get settled is make a roast turkey and all the trimmings.

Should restaurants leave the tails on shrimp?

I hate when restaurants do this especially in a dish that is not meant to be eaten with your hands. I always take them off at home and the thought of eating them disgusts me.

Thanksgiving disaster!

Good for you. Now you know and you can move forward and it great that you have your husband's support. Believe me, over time you will be very happy that you have this stress out of your life.

CHOW Reviews: SodaStream Source Soda Maker

I bought one for my son and he loves it. It seems to work very well and no problem finding the syrups or the refills. You can save a bit using a Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon. They have a pretty good selection of the syrups and accessories as does Target.

My FIL used to buy these from one of their stores. He loved them but I thought they were absolutely awful. Not even as good as your average supermarket steak.

That is a long running gag gift between my husband and his 3 brothers. Every Christmas someone gets one. A couple of years ago, my husband asked me to pick one up and I was shocked by how expensive they had gotten.

What about when the giver is only concerned with the price? I have ended up with junk off the Wal-Mart clearance rack that is so different from anything that I would like that it's like they never met me. I have no problem with anyone shopping on a budget because I do too but please, I would rather have a nice note.

With that being said, I do thank them warmly for the the gift and then donate it or pass it on.

I still see this at Target or Walgreens during the holidays. I am always tempted but have never given in. I have a bit of a kitchenware and gadget issue. I realized just how much during this last move and I have resolved to only buy what I actually need. We will see how long that actually lasts ; )

Maybe You Can Fix That Broken Keurig Coffee Maker

Mine bit the dust after 2 years. I called Keurig and while they didn't replace it for free, they did give me 50% off a new machine. It was a slight upgrade from the one I had as they didn't make that particular model any more. Their price was about $25 cheaper than I could have purchased a new one from Costco.

Good to know. I would not have thought to butter first. I make a lot of toast and it would be great to just have the one on the counter.

Oh sure rub it in : ) I am researching for a new toaster oven. The last one was just the cheapest one they had at Costco bought on a whim. This time I can get something better and since I've decided against a toaster I want to be sure it is a good one. Thanks for the input. I put the Breville on my list.

So true and internet shopping makes it so much easier than back in the old days when you had to run from place to place. I did almost all my shopping online this year and almost all of it in one day.

84 sounds heavenly. It's 20 here in Reno. I did use mine to not heat up the kitchen when we we lived in SoCal. Do you like the Breville?

Christmas dinner in Reno

Yeah I'm sure we will end up in a casino and probably a buffet again. It's fine really. They are certainly affordable and please my picky eaters and my one son who is a huge eater. I was just hoping to not have to serve myself lol. Let's try to get together after the holidays.

Yeah I know what you mean. I got rid of a lot of unitaskers in this last move and I am really sick of "stuff" in general. I think I'll skip the toaster and go with the toaster oven. I used mine a lot when I had one and I think I will now since it's mostly just me and the hubby.

Christmas dinner in Reno

Hi all, I am hoping for some inspiration for Christmas dinner. We just moved here a month ago, staying in temporary housing waiting for our house to be finished. Two of my kids are coming up from San Diego for Christmas and I'm not sure where to go for Christmas dinner.

For Thanksgiving, we did the Elements buffet at the Grand Sierra which was quite good and not crowded. For Christmas dinner, I would rather do something else. I am looking for something that can please a picky eater and something that won't break the bank a la Charlie Palmer's.

If anyone has any great ideas, I would love to hear them. TIA

This is a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. How long does it take your toaster oven to make toast? I had a toaster oven for quite a while but actually never made toast in it if you can believe it.

I recently moved and threw out my old toaster and gave the toaster oven to my daughter. I was planning on buying both a toaster and a toaster oven but now I wonder if I should skip the toaster. What do you think?
