Great Burger for Mother's Day Lunch East Bay
My family wants to take me out for a Mother's Day lunch. I have been craving a great burger of late but am drawing a blank on where to go. I would like to stay in the Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon or Walnut Creek area. Price is not an issue and extra points for a sports bar although of the ones that we frequent (Jack's in San Ramon, McCoveys, the Hopyard) the burgers are just average. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Deciding between Mesa Grill, Spago, and Mon Ami Gabi... NEED HELP!!!
I love Mesa Grill and try to at least have lunch there when I am in Vegas. My favorite thing there is the burger...just absolutely delicious!
Downtown/Freemont Street Steakhouse??
Maybe Vic and Anthony's? We had a fabulous dinner there. Very old school vibe, the type of place the Sopranos would like. The food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend a reservation and be on time....they only hold the reservation for 15 minutes. I can't remember what hotel it is in. Maybe the Nugget? I'm sure someone on these boards will know.
Best High End Restaurants for Business Dinner
My husband entertains in Vegas often and his clients always enjoy Delmonico, The Palm and B&B. As you can tell, they lean heavily toward the carnivore but all have fresh fish selections available.
Shout Out for Beef Palace, Huntington Beach
Good to know. I am looking forward to my new adventure and that includes new shopping and especially all of the new restaurants.
Shout Out for Beef Palace, Huntington Beach
I am a fan of Sprouts and agree regarding the pricing. The ferry Buidling can get ridiculous. I will definitely try the Meat House. I have a large family and sometimes finding larger cuts can be problematic. Is the pricing reasonable?
Shout Out for Beef Palace, Huntington Beach
So happy to hear about this place since I am moving to HB in June from the Bay Area. I've been down there house hunting and haven't been all that impressed with the food shopping options although i have a feeling that I just don't know where the good stuff is located. I will for sure give this place a shot as I am quite the carnivore.
Wayfare Tavern [SF]
Sounds like the fried chicken may be the way to go. I will report back.
Wayfare Tavern [SF]
Oops...I guess I need stronger glasses. They sound good so I might have to try them.
Wayfare Tavern [SF]
We are in the city for the day tomorrow and have reservations at Wayfare Tavern for lunch. I looked at the online menu but wanted to get some input from others. I am curious about specific dishes as well as overall experience. Friends who have eaten there loved the burger and also mentioned deviled eggs which I love but did not see on the online menu.
Thanks in advance for any and all input.
Rounding on restaurant bills
If that is in fact their policy, I think it is outrageous. Even if it's only a few cents, it is still the patron's money and they should decide whether to leave it or not. If it is a place that you would like to return to, I would check with the manager either in person or over the phone to verify the policy and then you can decide if you want to continue to patronize them.
There is always the possibility that it was the server's policy rather than the restaurant's. Either way for me personally, that would be off putting and I would not be returning.
Lunch in Gilroy
I have not found anything worthwhile in Gilroy. We default to In & Out. Hopefully someone has a better suggestion.
Foulest flavours...
+1 on the cilantro. I also can't stand the smell or texture of banannas. If forced to eat a bananna, I will throw up.
Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast in Carmel/Monterey area
I would switch and have dinner in Carmel and lunch in Big Sur. The appeal of Big Sur is the view and of course you can't see anything once it gets dark. Plus that drive is not fun at night and you certainly would have to limit wine/cocktails.
Also, the 17 mile drive is well worth doing. The scenery is spectacular and some of the homes are amazing. It's fun to stop and look around Pebble Beach and also a good place to have lunch. The market at Pebble Beach makes great sandwiches and there are plenty of placesoverlooking the ocean throughout 17 mile where you can picnic weather permitting.
Also, the suggestion above to have a drink at Spanish Bay at sunset with the bagpiper is spot on. It's beautiful and unlike anything you will find elsewhere.
Dinner in Paso Robles, any opinions on Deborah's Room at Justin Winery?
Love both Panolivo and Artisan as well. Have had great meals st both. Thomas Hill Organics is my next must try.
East Bay - Big group with a side of fries
Good to know. I will give them another shot.
East Bay - Big group with a side of fries
Esin is wonderful but it seems like it might be tough for a large group. They have a patio that might work depending on the weather. I would definitely call in advance and see if they can accomodate you. Don't skip dessert, it is wonderful.
East Bay - Big group with a side of fries
How is the food at Eddie Papas? I have only had drinks in the bar and the one time that I did the place was absolutely filthy. Lots of uncleared tables, sticky bar, crumbs on the floor etc.It didn't entice me to stay but maybe they were shorthanded or having an off night.
East Bay - Big group with a side of fries
Jack's is on San Ramon Valley Blvd. across the street from the Safeway shopping center. They have their own brew that is pretty good as well as a full bar. I think the food is better than the Hopyard. I have often seen large groups there so that wouldn't be a problem.
East Bay - Big group with a side of fries
Maybe Chow in Danville if you haven't already tried that. Another idea may be Jack's brewpub in San Ramon.
Best Veggie Burger in SF
I feel your pain! Food Inc. was also the beginning for my son. My son recently moved back from Parkmerced to our home in San Ramon so this has really become my problem from a day to day dinner perspective. I also have 2 other children that eat meat so it has been a struggle. I can't say that I have had any brilliant ideas as my son is picky as well so that lets out a lot of things other vegetarians would eat.
He does a lot of pasta, pizza, caesar salads, bean and cheese quesadillas etc. If you have a Sprouts market near you, they have some good things and they are much more economical than Whole Foods.
Honestly, I have not solved this issue and unfortunately often find myself preparing 2 entrees which is a pain. I wish I had more positive suggestions and wish you luck with your group!
4 guys and 4 days in Squaw Valley
Good call. The view is excellent and not bad for bar snacks.
4 guys and 4 days in Squaw Valley
Good luck with the snow. You should have better luck with the food. At Squaw, try the Irish place (can't think of the name) for a fun place for a hearty lunch and a good bar. No outstanding grocery stores in Truckee, just the usual Safeway and Albertsons. Of the two, Safeway is much better. There is also a wine store with a gourmet deli next to Safeway which might be of interest. If you are coming in from Reno, you would probably have more choices there.
In Truckee, try Dragonfly for sushi. It Is on the main drag (Donner Pass Rd ) upstairs. Also in Truckee, Cottonwood up on the hill is a fun place to have a drink but the food has gone way downhill so I would skip dinner. Also in Truckee , is the 50/50 Brewpub. It's a good place to grab a burger & a beer and watch a game.
Another place that is good for a higher end meal is River Ranch which is at the turnoff for Alpine Meadows. Nice atmosphere and the food is good as well.
Sage reservation cancelled, need new suggestions.
You might consider Jean Georges Steakhouse upstairs at Aria. While they certainly have the standard big pieces of meat, they also have some other dishes that are quite good. It also meets the distance requirement and is upscale but too out there. Definitely on the expensive side and I would recommend reservations.
elephant bar in emeryville, dublin, or fremont??
Elephant Bar may be just the call then. It certainly will work for the 3 year old and definitely has much better food then Rainforest Cafe but then again, it would be hard to find worse.
elephant bar in emeryville, dublin, or fremont??
I have been to all 3 locations and the food is exactly the same at all 3. As far as some type of happening bar scene if that is the excitement you are looking for, you will not find it in Dublin or Fremont. It's a very family friendly restaurant and not one which you would use the word excitement to describe the scene or the food.
The food is fine. It's sort of that weird not good and not bad category. I meet friends there fairly often because they have something for everyone and my friends like the fact that the calorie count is printed on the menu. The drinks are ok but if I were looking for really good food and or excitement, I would certainly head elsewhere.
Sunday Football
2nd the rec for Lagasse's. They have great stadium seating as well as tables that have their own tv's plus the bar. Lots of fun and great snacks, snadwiches, salads etc. Get there on the early side as it fills up quickly.
Vic and Anthony's
I second your opinion. We also had a fabulous meal there and I would definitely go back.
