Downtown Oakland - who delivers?

I am not 100% sure they deliver but I think they might, quite nice food and sweets:

They have a catering menu.

Wedding Caterer Under $80-100/pp

We used Insalata's in Marin 8 years ago and were very happy. We wanted it to taste like restaurant food not like a banquet. I don't remember what they charged but the food was great. I wonder if more negotiation is possible given the state of the economy??

If I like Ton Kiang in SF what Peninsula dim sum spot?

We'll be driving from the East Bay to near Palo Alto next Sunday and would like to get some dim sum on the way. We are open to driving out of the way for a great place. I know there is huge debate about what the best dim sum so I thought I'd just put it out there that I've always liked Ton Kiang because it's fresh and not overly greasy and a bit upscale. I would appreciate standouts in the BBQ pork buns and ha gau. Any ideas for places that would fit the bill? For those that also like Ton Kiang do you have any favorites in the South Bay?

ISO of Vietnamese Hot & Sour Soup

i actually like the version better a block down or so at minh's garden (208 clement, between 2nd and 3rd). i had heard good things about the one at mai's but wasn't so crazy about it. i don't think the minh's version is stellar but quite tasty as are many of their dishes.

in search of curry like you'd get in jolly old england

ok, if anyone is still reading this i called my friend to get more "clarification" (that was quite a good pun i made earlier, wish it'd been intentional!) and she said she is looking for a fairly bright orange chicken tikka masala or chicken korma and that she thinks of it as being more creamy than oily. she calls it british-style curry and says it is what you get pretty much everywhere. given this, any recommended spots? since i haven't eaten these curries in england (or did enough years ago that i don't remember them) i don't know if they are different from your average chicken tikka masala here. if someone feels knowledgeable on this please weigh in!

thanks again!

i thought my friend said something about the curries being more creamy or something but i'm not sure...she did say that there was something distinct about indian food in england that she was hoping to find here. osho, how specifically does kabana's food remind you of indian food in england?

Best Dim Sum In SF

i have to say that ton kiang has always been one of my absolute favorites for dim sum and i can never figure out why people don't like it (or seem to hate it actually). it's true that it's very heavy on the shrimp dumplings but they always taste delicious and fresh and non-greasy to me and i don't feel ill afterwards like i do at some of the other spots. i think they do wonderful greens and in have had very good experiences with some (although not all) of their non dim sum food as well (craved their shrimp-stuffed tofu when i was pregnant). i've been eating there for over 10 years and have consistently enjoyed it very much. just thought i'd weigh in since there is such a negative reaction for the most part. i've taken a lot of people there over the years and everyone has enjoyed it.
