If you're look for the best Sichuan Spicy Noodle (or Dan Dan Mien) ...
I couldn't find the pearl rice with pork on the menu. Closest thing is the sour spicy rice and pork under the - is that it?
king cake in los angeles, anywhere?
I've ordered it from Porto's last couple of years. Comes with beads and the baby on the side.
Buffalo BBQ ribs at Pasadena Whole Foods
Buffalo burgers are good, buffalo ribs speicifically the ones at whole foods are not. Thought they were very dry, jerky on a stick.
Cameron Hughes pinot noir
That's too bad. It's hard to find a good pinot less than $20.
Gioia Cheese Co/So El Monte
I read somewhere, possibly LA Magazine, that this is what Mozza serves. Regardless, it is absolutely fantastic with just some basil and fresh heirloom tomato. The quality of tomato is important so you'll probably have to wait until summer to get the full picture.
Alaskan King Crab
If you're looking for frozen, you can also get those at Costco. Not at the roadshow but in the frozen food section. They have boxes with the star cut king crab. Star cut is great, makes it so much easier to eat.
Nervous Newcomer to Beijing
Am vacationing in Beijing now and just tried Qin Tang Fu yesterday. It is very good, recommend the pork and noodle soup (there is picture menu, only 2 noodle looking dishes, it's the second one on the bottom left side of a page) and the bread in soup on the last page a specialty from Xian.
Lunch near Time Warner Center
They are?? I'll have to give them a call.
Booked for date I need, but I'll be back in NY in April and will check it out then. Thanks!
Lunch near Time Warner Center
The Modern was very good, we had dinner there. Maze looks very interesting, this could be a good place. How is the service? Looks like lunch starts at 12, and I'll need to get in a car and head to the airport at about 1pm.
Lunch near Time Warner Center
Need a place for lunch near Time Warner Center, no more than short cab ride. Already been to Bouchon and Jean Georges. What else should I try?
Osteria Mozza, hard decision to make
Same here. Any starter with burrata is amazing. Tried almost every pasta and the best is still the raviolo. It's rich so makes up for the size.
King Cake for Mardi Gras in LA (preferably Westside)?
Went to Porto's today. Did not have any in at the time to check it out personally. The picture of the cake in their posters looked great. Ordered for pickup later, $15.
Sushi like Nick San?
There's a sushi place in Cabo called Nick San that serves sushi with a unique twist. Think hamachi drizzled with curry oil and scallops with slices of jalapeno. Any place that has sushi in that style in LA?
Sunnin Lebanese - I won't be going back
I went there after my middle eastern friend raved about how great the food there is. Not true at all. Many other places are by far better. Marouch is fantastic. And the one time I went, I watched them microwave the falafels.
Hamakawa closed
Tried to go last night and thought I had the wrong place as the windows were covered up and definitely closed. There's a sign up indicating a change of ownership. Anyone know what happened?
Looking for LA area Costco with good wine
Burbank has 2 rows double sided which is best one I've been too. However after hearing about NoCal I doubt your expectations will be met (and we're all jealous). Irwindale occasionally has interesting wines but only 1 row, last fall they did get a case of Opus One and Insignia which went quickly.
La Buca - SHORT REPORT
There's a wine list now? Was there a few weeks ago and they were still doing BYOB. Is BYOB with no corkage no longer their policy?
