Great New Restaurant in Vieques!
So happy to hear this place has re-opened - it was completely abandoned last year.
I remember some magical meals under the stars at La Campesina back in the 1990's.
Can you tell us anything else about the food/menu/owners?
Is Bayona as good as the Hype?
My parents went to Bayona the weekend before Mardi Gras. They experienced horrible service and mediocre food. And my parents are patient and easily pleased. Bayona was the only place they didn't enjoy over 5 days.
August or Commander's Palace for weekeday lunch?
I have read elsewhere about wonderful lunch specials at both restaurants (inexpensive martinis and prix fix 3-course options). Is there anyone out there who experienced these options at either or both places who could give a description or somehow point me in the right direction?

Your description of the meal is wonderful. Thank you. A few questions - what is a black eyed pea crouton? I 'm having trouble imagining what it is... How is the quail egg prepared in the salad? Hard boiled? How big was the agnolotti? Was the filling just crayfish meat, or some sort of seasoned mixture, like a crabcake? How about the crust on the duck - sweet and savory?

I'm trying to decide between these two places. I have never been to either. If you were me, would you pick one of these places over the other, or just go to both of them during a week's stay?
March Road Trip from NOLA to Tupelo, MS
I'm going to be taking a few days to drive up to Tupelo and back. I've never been to Mississippi and I'm looking forward to the trip. I was thinking of stopping at Longbranch in Abita Springs on the way back to New Orleans. Also thinking of stopping by Leatha's outside Hattiesburg on the way up. But these plans can be changed. Please help me in my journey - any suggestions on restaurants or food shops on the way to Northeast Mississippi would be much appreciated.
