Cafe luluc -- fresh Smith Street horrors

Cafe Luluc can be--has been--great at dinner. But like Robin du Bois and that other place up Smith, the swank hipster place, the name escapes me, it's really hit-or-miss. But the steak has been great at times.

Ferdinando's on the other side of the BQE is amazing. Depends what you get, but classic and worth the trek. Frankie's is mediocre. Prime Meats is amazing. Calexico: all right. Brucie: great. Fragole: decent. Pacifico: does the deed. Seersucker: so-so. The Grocery and Saul: expensive but worth it. But other than that, it can be hit-or-miss. But that said, it beats almost any other neighborhood I can think of all around.

al capone did, in fact, receive his scar at a fight in a bar in brooklyn, but the bar, the harvard inn, owned by frankie yale, wasn't in red hook but in coney island. though red hook's boundaries have fluctuated greatly over the years, capone never lived in red hook, but in fact he lived in gowanus, near third avenue.

chow on that,
