Best Take Out in Huntington Village?
Already named two of my favorite places to take out from...
Best Fries On LI?
Seconded - the fries (and dips) there are fantastic.
If you haven't tried the wraps there - they are well worth it - great value and very good as well!
Luzzo's Coal Oven Pizza - Westbury
Pizza was nice and crisp when we went last night... bad day? I'd say its almost as good as it used to be - certainly the best (er...only) pizza of this style in Huntington...
Porto Vivo-Huntington--Anyone Been? Reviews?
I haven't eaten there yet, but I've peaked in a few times, and the ambiance is certainly extraordinary - the best looking restaurant in Huntington.
I wasn't blown away by the menu, but perhaps its executed perfectly. Its posted on there website - prices seemed reasonable.
Massa's in Huntington
I've been there before and after - pizza seemed pretty much the same to me (very good). I think some of the staff stayed on, that probably helped.
Clean Takeout Chinese on LI?
If you're willing to travel a bit farther, then another place that might be worth checking out is Precious Chinese in East Northport (Larkfield Rd). I've gone there a few times in the past few months, and so far the food has been good - plus they had a few items I haven't seen in other places (Bannana Chicken - good!).
Just to give some context, there used to be an excellent Chinese restaurant in Huntington, Imperial Hunan, which is now closed - after trying out a bunch in the area, this has been the best I've found.
Clean Takeout Chinese on LI?
He asked for clean... its the cleanest chinese place I know of with a takeout menu.
Clean Takeout Chinese on LI?
Their dishes vary in quality - the Empress Chicken for example, is usually excellent. But the prices for run of the mill dishes is way out of line with the quality of the dish you get (about equal to any takeout place).
Clean Takeout Chinese on LI?
Try Jani's, in the shopping center next to Walt Whitman mall. Its a (relatively) upscale Chinese restaurant, with a large sit down area, and take out service as well.
Looks clean as a whistle to me - never had a problem with food contamination either.
islip/huntington farmers market
Huntington was definitely open - seemed to be more vendors than there were last year (though a few mentioned to me it was pretty quiet this week - some packed up early).
Northport has one on Saturday as well - have yet to visit it.
Lunch in Long Island $12 Limit
If you want another good sub 12$ meal in Huntington, don't forget the full-wrap special at European Republic. You get your choice of wrap (they're all excellent), a soda, a cone of belgian style fries, and a dipping sauce - all for 8-9$ great deal!
Brunch on North Shore/Huntington Area
welll - sweet mama's is probably not what you're looking for either then... my idea of upscale I guess is fancy diner :)
Brunch on North Shore/Huntington Area
Have you checked out Toast in Huntington, or Sweet Mama's in Northport?
Recommendation for Sunday Brunch vicinity of Huntington, LI?
My wife and I like Toast & Co. on Stewart... its menu's posted on-line if you want to check it out...
Sunday morning bkfst question: Toast vs. Munday's
I was going to suggest the exact opposite (little late now, seeing how its past Monday). I always thought that Munday's had the worst breakfast in the village... with the Village Diner closed, Toast is our defacto spot for a good breakfast.
Good chinese in Huntington, LI?
Thought I posted this last night but apparently not... lemme try again...
Tried Precious last night, and we have a WINNER! Food was definitely prepared differently than at Imperial - so it didn't taste the same - but it was prepared very well - not greasy at all. And it tasted just as good! We also like that they throw in free seasame noodles with 20$ or more purchase. We will definitely be taking out from there again - They had some interesting dishes I had never seen before (chicken with bannanas?). Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a replacement to Imperial - for those of us south and east of the village, its about equal distant (at the intersection of Larkfield and Claypitt).
Sri Thai in Huntington, NY
Finally gave the place a try - definitely the best Thai in the area - my wife and I thought they were comparable to most of the Thai places we've wandered into in the city.. Portions were fair, and at least for a sit down meal, the amount of meat seemed appropriate. The service was iffy - but then again, I doubt anyone is going out for the service.
Good chinese in Huntington, LI?
I believe the place is called Precious. The Empress chicken is lightly fried. I wouldn't call it a doughy or deep-fried crust.
Is the Thai place finally open??? I haven't checked in a week - I was almost starting to give up on the place ever opening...
Good chinese in Huntington, LI?
Try the Empress chicken at Jani - a walnut crusted chicken - excellent dish, and not something you find at a typical chinese joint. Still - you are right, they are definitely expensive, and mostly not worth the price. But I still think if you ignore the price, they are the best Chinese in the area.
For more reasonable prices, the Chinese place in Southdown is OK - but no where as good as Imperial.Probably the best bet in the village area though. I've heard tales of a great place in Elwood/East Northport - but have yet to try it.
Special Occasion on LI - Polo, Palm Court, or somewhere else?
Thanks for the thoughts!
Special Occasion on LI - Polo, Palm Court, or somewhere else?
I'm looking to celebrate a special occasion with a memorable dinner, minus a trip into the city; and I'm looking for a place that can only have good (or better food), but must have great service and ambiance.
Polo and Palm Court come to mind (I've never eaten at either, but always heard good things). Has anyone eaten at either recently and give a rec? Or mention an alternative I've overlooked? Great food but only OK ambiance or service definitely out - sorry Mirabelle.
Many thanks...
valentine's dinner on long island
Jonathan's definitely has the atmosphere and the service. I enjoy their regular menu, but I have no idea if they are offering that or a "special" valentine's day menu instead.
LI Wedding Halls - What is a Foodie to do?
Try the Harbor Club in Huntington - they mainly present themselves as a place that knows how to prepare food, and from experience (my own wedding and several other events there over the past 5 years), the food actually is good enough that I'll actually save room for the main course there.
Long Island Mexican and ......
Have you ever tried Oaxaca (or Quetzalcoatl) in Huntington? They have some non Americanized dishes on the menu. Though being an American, I tend to prefer Faz's Tex-Mex. I know its probably not "authentic" - but I love it.
Aix en-Provence, Huntington
Aix en-Provence is an excellent restaurant - if you can get the price fix, its well worth it.
north shore long island-need new ideas
I've never been there, but I've heard good things about 18 Bay in Bayville - I only mention it because its supposed to focus on dishes made with local ingredients and seasonal items...
No Knead Bread - 1 Year Later
Funny you should post this - I am looking over my two clippings on the subject now, getting ready for Thanksgiving - a great recipe!!!
Good chinese in Huntington, LI?
That would be the restaurant that replaced the beloved Imperial chinese restaurant on main street.
Good chinese in Huntington, LI?
I've been stuck in the same dilemma - Imperial was the only Chinese place I would go to in Huntington over the past ten years... I've been going all the way out to Jani's at Walt Whitman mall for Chinese the past two months- its good, but too pricey and too far away to go to on a regular basis... guess I'm going to have to start trying out other places to see if anywhere else comes close (I doubt it).
