Barbados bloggers and foodies needed!

Also, if you are focusing on local, there is a woman in St Lawrence Gap who has a tiny place called "Just Stop" she prepare very local dishes and has only a few tables. You can find some bits about her on the internet I believe. She is located at the top of the cricket field at Dover Sports club. I think she is starting to gain in popularity but she is "local"

Barbados bloggers and foodies needed!

It gets pretty crowded and there is music so all in all, kinda noisy. Having said that, it's worth a Friday visit to see it. Wednesday and Thursday are more manageable and the food is just as good!

Not a Bajan but have been visiting for years. Oistins fish fry is really something you should plan on seeing. Thursday night isn't as crazy noisy as Friday. Uncle George's has outstanding grilled seafood. Another "local" kind of spot that we love is Just Grillin'. There are 2 locations one in Hastings across from Accra Hotel and one in Hoeltown. Again, simply prepared grilled fish. Fresh and local. Can mix with the locals at both places. As you can see, we don't really do high end, been there, done that. ( We are from coastal Massachusetts and know our seafood)

Best fries on the strip?

A bit late but my vote would be OFF the strip at the Renaissance, near the convention center. They have a parmesan truffle frie served in a paper cone that is waaay beyond more-ish. They are a once a year treat. Nothing healthy about them, and they are not greasy.

slow cooker question

I have recently become "re-interested" in slow cookers. Had one in the '70's and now they are on the comeback. Who's using what brand and who likes/dislikes features of some models? Thanks

Las Vegas Chinatown

We are currently in LV and plan to eat at Capitol Seafood tonight. We have eaten there a couple of times on previous trips and liked it. We ate at LOS last night and liked it a lot. It would be a better dining experience with a group so you could try a variety of items. Anyway, I'm getting "off track" so, In LV Chinatown is it Capitol Seafood or??????? Thanks from this East Coaster

Azorean Cuisine in Providence or Cape Cod?

Head to Fall River in SE Mass. Columbia St. is where the restaurants are. We are very fond of Sagres, they specialise in seafood. Their shrimp Mozambique is plate lapping good and the Little necks in Garlic and oil are delish! There are several other Portuguese restaurants in Fall River as well as a bunch in New bedford and virtually all of them are Azorean as most Portuguese around here emigrated from the Azores as opposed to the mainland. sorry for the lengthy reply.

RI- Restaurants open X-mas Day!?

Sardella's in Newport is open Christmas Day. They open at 3:00p. We had a wonderful meal there last year and are going again this year. Lovely setting as well.

New Bedford, Ma

Some other considerations are Cafe Portugal and Cafe Mimo. Both are on Acushnet Ave. They have been around longer than Antonio's and each has good things to offer. My personal fave is Sagres in Fall River. Alentejana to die for.

any good greek food in providence?

I second Efendi's. Great variety of the region and tasty. The Turkish salad was my entree after sharing some appetizers and it was too big to finish.Fresh, tasty. I'd go back. Andreas is not worth the trip.

need help now (Las Vegas)

We are currently in Las Vegas and I would love comments on the vietnamese pho restaurants on Spring Mountain Road. (oh, we are going out to dinner within the hour...no pressure here!) I just checked with the concierge and she did not have feedback on any of them but gave me a menu for Kung Fu and she also recommended Lotus of Siam. I am almost voiceless from a cold and want nothing more than a big bowl of incredibly delicious spicy satisfying noodle soup.... where would a chowhound go?

Restaurants in Ayer

I see the post for restaurants in Leominister and maybe this is a redundant post...they are quite close. Having said that, we are staying in Ayer next Saturday night. What's decent ( doesn't have to be fab) that's within a 10 minute drive of Ayer. I know there is a place called O'Hanlon's in Ayer...do they serve food?

Portugese bakery in Fall River, clam cakes in Westport

I must respectfully disagree about Evelyn's. I read the Saveur article as well...I'd go with Flo's on the Newport Middletown line. And on Main Road Westport, not far from The Back Eddy, is Perry's bakery. Bakeries on Columbia St Fall River can provide you with excellent sweet bread.

Where can I buy Rockfish in Rhode Island?

Try Anthony's Seafood on Aquidneck Ave. Middletown. I don't really know but I think Rockfish might be generic for a group of fish. Anthony's is a good place to start

Looking for Rhode Island Restaurant on the Water

The Boatyard in Tiverton is quite good. It is scituated right above the Sakonnet river and they have very good seafood. Also The Inn At Castle Hill has a fabulous location and has a wonderful (pricey) menu. Clam shacks they ain't but if you're looking for on-the-water dining, these are an option.

Newport - Need Restaurant down town

Black Pearl is a WONDERFUL restaurant with great chowder and THE BEST french fries this side of french fry heaven. The singularly WORST meal I have ever had in Newport was at the Mooring. I didn't know such things could be done to shrimp and I bet the shrimp didn't either. Tucker's Bistro is quite good and the Clarke Cooke house is, as always, divinely consistent....

Quahogs and Lobster Meat near New Bedford

For the lobster and little necks try calling Dale at Westport Lobster on Main Road in Adamsville. For really good linguica try Chaves market in Fall River...there are linguica places in New Bedford, closer for you, but i don't remember the names
