Philly Cheesesteak Roundup
Hey Philly Hounds,
Will be travelling back from Balt. tomorrow to north Jerzey. Anybody have a rec for a cheesesteak along the 295 corridor? I have had a great one from Chick's in Cherry Hill but afraid I may not make their closing time (5:30?).
As a former Philadelphian, I was disappointed to read the less than stellar reports on Delassandros. In my years in the late 70's, I thought they were head & shoulders above the rest. Thanks.
Post-Theatre Dinner in Princeton
My wife & I are seeing a show at the McCarter on Thursday and would truly appreciate any rec's from fellow hounds. We're from Morris Co. & not very familiar with the area. We probably need a place that will seat us as late as 10:00. Totally open as to type of cuisine. Thanks.
New Haven Pizza Tour
Your feedback has been amazingly helpful. One last question: What is Monday like for New Haven pizza?
New Haven Pizza Tour
Thanks so much for everyone's contributions. Looks like St. Patty's Day is out, due to a conflict, but a weekday this month is definite. I will absolutely post our experiences.
New Haven Pizza Tour
Jim, sounds like a plan. Thanks for your input. We appreciate the thoughtfulness. Is The Spot different enough from Pepe's to warrant a stop? What are your feelings about Zinc, Ernie's & Zuppardi's?
New Haven Pizza Tour
Hadn't heard of Zinc before, Emmmily. Thanks. Sounds good. We're thinking of Pepe's, Sally's, Modern, & Bar. The Sausage pie at Zuppardi's looks amazing. Have you been there?
New Haven Pizza Tour
We are 8 mature NJ chowhounds who are drooling over an upcoming trip I am planning to New Haven for a whirlwind pizza tour. My fantasy is to arrive at 11:30 and hit 3-4 stops by 2:00.
Break for an hour or two at the Yale Museum and try to get in another 3-4 pizzerie on the way out of town!
What do you think? Doable? Does anyone have an opinion as to whether places will freak out over a group of 8 ordering one pie? We certainly would have beverages and would be way above average tippers. Or will we have to take out & eat in our van? It may also make sense to order 2 pies at each restaurant and just take home the leftovers.
Of course we also welcome any suggestions, especially outside the usual suspects and would be thrilled over any suggested itineraries.
Looks like our most likely date will be March 17!
Thanks for all your input.
Looking for a good cateerer in westfield/scotch plains area?
If you're having the party at home, The Cooking Company in Verona, is superb & I know they've done many things in Westfield.
Good grub in Towson?
Any rec's for a Jersey foodie in town for a few days. Have been here a few times & had "the cheesesteak", Koco's crab cake and Fortunato's pizza to name a few. Should be available for takeout as I am looking after an invalid relative.
Thank you charming hounds!
Need good finger food/caterer for at home party in central jersey
Try The Cooking Company in Verona. Interesting hors d'oeuvres, very New York style.

Yankee Satdium Outing
Greetings & salutations my hounds:
Used to frequent Yankee Stadium several times a year, usually day games during the week. Have not been in the past few years. Our routine was an early lunch at the "Court House Deli", a beer or three at Stan's and an early dinner at Roberto's. Is this plan still feasible, advisable, preferable? Very welcome to suggestions as it's been a few years. I know it's not chow, but welcome any parking tips as we are coming from Jersey. Once parked on the street in Harlem which worked out wonderfully!
Is that still an option? Thanks!
Off the beaten path
Hello Chicago Hounds! Will be visiting your fair city at the end of the month for 4 days. While many of the restaurants I'm reading about on this board sound wonderful, I am looking more for places that are off the tourist track. We will have a car, enjoy ethnic foods of all types and, like most, enjoy value.
More than anything, we'd appreciate experiencing things that we may not find in the NYC area.
Thanks!
Soup dumplings in Bergen County
The ones at Petite Soo Chow in Cliffside Park are amazing & worth the trip.
4 Hour lay-over @ Charles de Gaulle
My wife & i are flying to Rome on Tuesday and have a 4 hour layover in Paris from about 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Are there any interesting lunch options at the airport or in the vicinity? We love good, straight-forward French food & not looking for a Michelin experience.
Cheesesteak Options Near Rt. 295
I frequently travel to Baltimore from north Jersey to visit family. Always wish I knew of a cheesesteak place that was convenient to the 295/tpke corridor in south Jersey. I'm a former resident of Phila. & also Audubon, NJ and miss the real thing.

Italian Sausage in North jersey
My local butcher recently went out of business and I was very dependent on him for a weekly fix of very hot Italian sausage. I've tried every place I can find but am not happy with the quality of what's out there. I live in Essex but will travel. The best I've found so far is Lentina's in Lyndhurst but their "hot" is pretty benign. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Best Rodizio
I'd love to hear the latest thinking on rodizio places in Newark or elsewhere. Was set to reserve for a special occasion at Brasilia Grill when I heard some negative chatter online.
Only concern is there will be 2 young boys in our party of 12.
Special Occasion Restaurant For Sunday Night
My best high school friend and I just turned 60. He's visiting from St. Croix (poor lad) and we'd like to go out on Sunday evening for a special meal along with my wife. We're all foodies to some extent and fine dining is probably what we all have in mind, although it could be anything great! In Montclair & willing to travel up to an hour. Just to give you an idea, I was thinking about Restaurant Nicholas, which is open & David Drake , which is not. Thanks for any help as I know Sundays are problematic.

try hunan cottage on rte.46 E. in fairfield. you have to ask for the chinese menu as they give a pedestrian menu to caucasians. if you need assisatnce, flag down one of the 2 women hostesses (owners, i believe) for help. been going there regularly for several years & haven't had anything bad and a lot celestial.
