Tasty non-alcoholic East Bay drinks?
Hey, I was just at Bocanova and I liked it a lot. But the only drink I saw was a raspberry-lemonade thing. What did I miss?

Tasty non-alcoholic East Bay drinks?
They used to sell the grape juice in some stores, but I don't think they do anymore. Now you have to order it online.
Tasty non-alcoholic East Bay drinks?
Definitely want to try the boba smoothies--thanks.
Tasty non-alcoholic East Bay drinks?
Oh yeah, i love the Navarro grape juice. I've ordered it online by the case. I haven't had the mint lemonade at Holy Land, I'll try that.
Tasty non-alcoholic East Bay drinks?
There's a thread on this from 2006, but almost all of those places are closed. I'm wondering about any tasty non-alcoholic drink ideas in the East Bay, doesn't have to be a mocktail, could be a juice or a shake or smoothie or whatever.
Any good burritos on the Westside?
Okay, well, we went to Gallego's. My mom loved her veggie burrito, but I was not crazy about my carne asada burrito. It's possible that my tastes have changed since I was a kid here. Next time I will try somewhere else. I really appreciate everyone's suggestions.
Any good burritos on the Westside?
Cool--there are more choices than I thought. At the moment, El Abajeno is in the lead, although I'm not into the monster burrito thing, so I'm hoping this is about the quality and not the quantity. What I think I remember from my childhood is beef and beans (refried) and cheese. But maybe that was just what I ordered, and not some Platonic ideal of a burrito.

Any good burritos on the Westside?
I live up North, but I grew up down here eating Campos burritos. I'm visiting my mom on the Westside and I want a SoCal burrito like I had as a kid, without all the stuff they put in up North, but my mom isn't willing to drive me out to East LA where according to this board, all the good burritos are. I looked up Campos, but the reviews were so mixed and so many people were disgusted by them, that I was hoping there was somewhere else.

Is anything nice open for lunch anymore in Berkeley or Oakland?
Yeah, Flora would be good, except that I have heard mixed things about it, too. Now I'm leaning toward Revival, because it occurred to me that there's probably a reason I've never eaten at Verbena.
Anyone else been to Revival?
Is anything nice open for lunch anymore in Berkeley or Oakland?
I'm not sure but maybe "nice" means slightly more expensive. I like Venus and La Note but they are not what I'm looking for, as opposed to Five and Wood Tavern, where people do dress casually, but they are more expensive...
Maybe Revival would work.
Is anything nice open for lunch anymore in Berkeley or Oakland?
Five and Wood Tavern would be perfect if we hadn't just gone there. That is exactly what I am looking for, except not. La Note and Venus maybe not nice enough.
I'm leaning toward Verbena since, oddly, none of us have ever been there.
What's Revival like? I thought Downtown was meh.

Cesar got bad for a while, maybe it's okay again. I heard really bad things about Bocanova, perhaps unfounded. Is Sidebar nice enough?
Luka's is not nice enough. Verbena and B i haven't been to--I will look at those.
Thank you.

I'm trying to find a nice place to have lunch in Berkeley or Oakland and I just checked Corso and Camino and neither has lunch anymore
Well, Trueburger is open, but I was hoping for something nicer. Ozumo and Pican maybe. Anywhere else nice-ish? I think maybe Ozumo would do if there isn't much else. I've heard very mixed things about Barlata.

Kobe beef burger in East Bay?
Thanks for the Mezze's idea. Looks like I can bring a kid there, too...
Kobe beef burger in East Bay?
Hmm. I see a kobe burger bento over rice on the lunch menu. Have you had it there?
I'm actually headed there next week to try the kobe steak--have you had that there?
So no other ideas? I think that means it doesn't exist in the East Bay...
Kobe beef burger in East Bay?
Is there one? I know people think it's a waste to use kobe in a burger (and it's not really kobe anyway), but I had one at Pearl's in SF and it was delicious. Is there anything like that in the East Bay? Well, not Danville. Like closer to Oakland.
Picante in Berkeley--who cares?
After years of being forced to go to Picante because it's so dang kid-friendly, and hating the bland boring food, I finally discovered the Sopa Azteca, which is completely delicious. Now I don't mind going there at all, and you really can't beat it for kid-friendly.
Dessert in Berkeley tonight?
Thanks. Cesar on Piedmont seems like it would work, and I think they are actually open. Any particular dessert you think is good?
Dessert in Berkeley tonight?
I'm trying to find somewhere in Berkeley-ish to sit down and have a tasty dessert at around 9 PM--meaning not a takeout gelato place or Sketch, and I can't find anywhere open. Ochame isn't open, and neither are several of the other places I've looked up.
Suggestions?
Weekend lunch in Oakland
Maybe I'll see if I can get into Wood Tavern. Cesar would work except I'm going there the week after. Gregoire might work also--I haven't been to the one on Piedmont--can you sit down there or is it like the Berkeley one?
Weekend lunch in Oakland
I need to take someone to lunch in Oakland on a Saturday, and I'm having trouble finding somewhere appropriate. The places I can think of that would be good, like Soi4 or A Cote, aren't open, and Wood Tavern seems like it would be much better for dinner. I would be willing to go to Bakesale Betty's for the chicken sandwich, but we won't have anywhere to go with our food, and it's likely to be cold out. Any ideas?
East Bay work holiday party
I know this has been asked before, but I didn't see anything that I thought was right. My work holiday party is going to be about 90 people. The places they are looking at have terrible food, and I just hate the thought of sacrificing good food for some corporate package with entertainment. Any East Bay ideas that would have both?
Near Potrero Hill with a kid?
Thanks everyone. We'll try it. I'll just bring some snacks for her and hope the wait isn't too long...
Near Potrero Hill with a kid?
I heard it was really crowded on Monday nights and I'm a little worried about a long wait...although I think it would be perfect otherwise.
Near Potrero Hill with a kid?
I'm going to be near Potrero Hill and I need somewhere several of us can go to dinner, one of whom is my very well-behaved, restaurant-savvy 6 year-old. Any ideas? It seems silly to go anywhere too nice with a child, but it would be good if the food were tasty...
GREAT East Bay Hamburger?
Val's in Hayward. Everyone I've taken there has been wowed. That having been said, I've been there maybe 8 times, and 6 were outstanding and two were just very good. So I guess they do have off nights...
Street Vendor Breakfast
Anyone know of any street vendors who sell something besides bagels, smoothies and coffee? I thought I read something about one in Gourmet a few years ago, but I can't rmemeber anything about it. Like bacon and eggs, but something a cut above the norm?
I Know the Hamburger Thing In SF Has Been Done To Death
Okay, but wait a minute. I very much appreciate all the responses, but have all of you really been to Val's? I'm just checking, because I can't tell if people are just saying the hamburgers they like, or if they are really answering my question, which was, where are the non-fancy burgers in SF that are as good as Val's in Hayward? Don't get me wrong, I like hearing about what people like, but I'm just not sure my actual question is being answered by people who have actually been to Val's....
I Know the Hamburger Thing In SF Has Been Done To Death
But I have a very specific question. I'm looking for great San Francisco hamburgers, but not fancy ones like Zuni. My favorite burger of all time is at Val's in Hayward--I've been there 6 times, and 4 times it was awesome, and 2 times it was pretty good. Everyone I've taken there has been blown away, fortunately we went on the awesome nights and not on the pretty good nights. I just came back from Michigan, where I tried the burger at Miller's Bar in Dearborn, which was thick and meaty and delicious and rated one of the best in the country (in that GQ list), and we thought it was great. But we didn't think it was as good as Val's.
So, my question is, where are the non-fancy burgers in SF that are as good as Val's? Meaning, if you haven't been to Val's, or if you've been there and didn't like it, you probably aren't a good person to answer this question.
Anyone?
