Really fresh sushi on westside?
Try Hide Sushi near Sawtelle and Ohio. Long lines - for a good reason. If you don't want to wait, go to Asahi Ramen across the street (no sushi, but it's a great deal too).
Piedmont Ave./Oakland area
For cheap, try Geta. Just off Piedmont. Its a little Japanese place. Just a few tables. But in a small space, lots of great food. They know what they're doing. Lots of Japanese customers to keep them honest. I go there whenever I'm in the area and need a quick Japanese fix. You can definitely get very satisfied for $10-$15pp.
Business lunch places around Embarcadero
I'm thinking about $25-$30 per person before tax/tip.
Do you eat dark chocolate?
Go with Scharffenberger Chocolate (www.scharffenberger.com). This is really great stuff.
Business lunch places around Embarcadero
I'm always looking for decent business lunch places around Embarcadero that are not too demanding on the wallet..... any good tips?
Good, Inexpensive Eats In Dublin/Pleasanton?
The Mexican place near Dublin Honda is "Taqueria Azteca". One of my favorites there is thee Chili Verde plate. The pork is lean, spicy, but not hot. The soup is also great - very, very filling.
Japanese grocery store?
You can also go to Berkeley Bowl 510-843-6929 (in Berkeley, of course). It has a small, compact Japanese section which covers all the basics, including some chilled things (kamaboko, etc). Also the produce section is great in general, and there are a lot of Japanese groceries in the mix (nasu, momotaro tomato, persimmon, etc, etc.) (and the veggies are really, really cheap). But if you want full scale Japanese, then Nijiya is probably the best bet. SF Japantown, San Mateo, Mountain View and sometime or another that one in SJ Japantown.
Good, Inexpensive Eats In Dublin/Pleasanton?
Thanks everyone, this is great. Several are new to me. I personally like Armadillo Willy's in the Safeway shopping center off Tassajara. Also there is an Indian place in the new shopping plaza off Dublin Blvd (next to the new Tomatina). The lunch specials at the Indian one are particularly good deals.
Japanese in East Bay?
Me too. It's indeed family run. From my point of view one of the very few restaurants where the people cooking grew up with delicious Japanese food and want to share it with others. I've never seen sushi either.
