Does Wat Thai temple still have food vendors on weekends?
I last recall that this place was going to stop having a plethora of food vendors on weekends... is this true now or are there still lots of vendors coming every weekend?
can someone please provide positive confirmation if they went this year?
Please help me figure out what to eat for lunch on Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday
headed to vegas for a wedding...
some things on our list, but not definite, is
1) hash house a go go based on the yelp reviews
2) wynn (lunch or dinner???)
3) the oyster bar at palace station based on the yelp reviews
we are budget conscious, but we rarely go to vegas
i'd be interested in seeing what your recommendations are on lunch and dinner places in the $15-40 price range. no more buffets. this is for me and my SO.
we might even scratch wynn from our list because we always regret gorging ourselves with food to get our money's worth.
Ocean Bo Dim Sum Cafe
is dim sum served all day till the evening? or does the dim sum end around 2 or 3 like most dim sum restaurants?
Suggest a place for great lunch specials around San Gabriel/Pasadena!
I usually work in downtown and have to eat the crappy food down there at premium prices, so I'm going to take advantage of the fact I'll be home and seek out some lunch special place...
I'm considering Robin's at the moment since they headline some $7.95 lunch special

any other ideas?
also just noticed this...

Mastros at Beverly Hills for 2 - map out my dinner
hmm i don't recall seeing the gnocchi on their menu (i've only been to the costa mesa one). i'll look out for it and try it out!
Mastros at Beverly Hills for 2 - map out my dinner
Going to have dinner with my SO at Mastro's, and we rarely eat out at a pricey place like this, so I'm doing some early preparation.
I can never finish their steak (after 2 visits over the past few years), so I'm leaning towards splitting the steak. So which steak should I get, assuming I want to split one? I like my steak medium rare, but she likes it medium (so what she says goes!).
We're really more of a sides type of people... we love mac n cheese, so we're definitely getting that... anything else? appetizers?
we'll probably skip dessert because we always run out of room :-P
thanks
Best place to eat on a thursday night?
gonna go out for a friend's bday and we're looking for some decent dining, i.e. sushi, etc... any recommendations? late thursday night like around 11pm+.
anywhere within 25 mile radius of pasadena/sgv is fine.
Great mac n cheese in pasadena/sgv/LA area?
any recs?? i like mastro's mac n cheese, but that's in costa mesa.
Farm Boy vs. Pinkberry
golden spoon is better than anything else mentioned in this thread.
Places to eat after 10pm in arcadia/templecity/sgv area?
i'm struggling to find places to eat these days after 10 PM other than the typical chinese cafe.... any recommendations on any of these cafes or anywhere else I can eat after 10 PM? Please dont say Norms or denny's :)
Best Italian Restaurant in San Gabriel Valley / Pasadena area?
i like di pillas in rosemead... relatively cheap with good free bread and one of the better lasagnas i've tried ne where... however chowhounders tend to dislike it for the upscale stuff.
Any good Indian food in downtown LA for lunch?
maybe i've been spoiled by the quality of their curry dinners, but the way they make their curry for lunch is a lot less tasty and less heavy (in the flavor dept like butter). i guess since they're making it in bulk for lunch buffet, it can't compare to their dinners.
also wasn't too fond of the service. we had a party of 5 guys for lunch and they'd give us like 3 pieces of naan and when we asked for more they'd give us like 2 at a time (so we had to ask like 4 more times).
On the upside, their naan is excellent :).
Any good Indian food in downtown LA for lunch?
Gill's doesn't count... it's bad for lunch, but dinner is a different story.
Best Japanese Curry
another vote for ducks curry. i find it overpriced tho but it's reall good curry.
Best vietnamese curry?
i have tried lee kam kee and it is probably the best one i've tried so far. chau's kitchen isn't bad either... their curry is good but they dont have real good quality chicken (and they dont add any veggies or anything else in it)
Where oh where is White Castle when you need one?
haha i went to visit the illinois institute of technology for a conference and tried my first ever white castle near there around 1am. to our surprise we saw that hte cashiers were behind (what appeared to be) bullet proof windows when taking our orders kind of like a gas station clerk. then a bunch of young looking hoodlums came in to flirt/harass with the cashier when suddenly you hear a loudspeaker asking if the cashier is okay.. apparently there's 24/7 security surveilance.
never going to a white castle in chicago again :-o
A perfect San Gabriel lunch, all along Main/Las Tunas
how much is it for an order of bo luc lac? if its under 8 bucks i'm there
Sushi Restaurant in temple city
does anyone have any reviews on this restuarant?
The Sushi
5835 Temple City Blvd, Temple City, CA 91780
626 286-8018
Great sushi in Temple City or around it?
can anyone vouch for The Sushi? i always thought it was some rundown place that went out of business when i drove by O.o
Great sushi in Temple City or around it?
i'm tired of driving west for good sushi and i really hate A float sushi in pasadena despite the praise it gets (it seems like more of a gimmick to me).
Best Dim Sum
definitely NOT 888... terrible service and dont bother going in after 1pm where they clean up quite early.
good/great buffets in sgv?
can someone recommend a good buffet in sgv other than todai? the closer to san gabriel, rosemead, arcadia, the better. thanks.
Is Pinkberry Really Yogurt Or Is It Marketing Hype?
i'm pretty certain it's hype. it tastes OK to me and people kid themselves that it's healthy, but get real. it's not that much more, if at all, healthier than a mcdonald's soft serve. i did my own bit of research when my friends were all giddy about it and loved how they gave out nutrition info for a FRACTION OF A SERVING!! so you had to multiply the figures by like 6 or something i forget and it became ridiculous.
Recommend a carniceria for marinated carne asada in SGV
funny you mention that because i go there occasionally and i live right by the market but have never thought of looking for mexican items
