Beyond meat?

Tried the "Beefy Crumbles" in my regular sloppy joe recipe. It didn't taste beefy at all. It has an overwhelming taste of oregano, and not in a good way. Ruined the recipe. Texture was off too. Product was gently heated according to directions, and has the consistency of overcooked meat. Will not buy again. Even that old standby textured vegetable protein (tvp) tastes better when rehydrated with some soy sauce and nutritional yeast than this product. Haven't tried any of the Beyond Meat chicken products.

Nabisco's Royal Lunch Milk Crackers have been discontinued

I find this thread so full of memories, thank you all. Milk lunch crackers were something I remembered from my Nunny's house, but her box was always a blue green color. Thanks to rspff for the mention of Mrs. Allisons and LU. That rang a bell for me. I looked for them, and found the crackers of my childhood. I mourn for all of you that miss the purple box. Losing a food you grew up with is so dissapointing. I miss the Sunbeam raisin biscuits too.

Blender Advice - aka KitchenAid vs. Cuisinart

Buy a Vitamix. I have a Vitamix 3600 bought in 1985. It has been used hard, and is still going strong. It's a terrific product, and the company stands behind them 100%. You might consider picking up a used one on ebay. A used 3600 is worth $100 (Canadian) in trade in value on a new model.

Obsolete Childhood Food Memories?

As a young girl I really wanted to fish when we were down the shore. Daddy wasn't a fisherman, so I learned how to crab. One morning Daddy took me crabbing with a friend and his son. Dad's friend was too cheap to rent a motorboat, so a rowboat would just have to doe . Needless to say, we didn't catch many crabs. So, the very next Saturday, Daddy woke me up and just the two of us went crabbing, in a real motorboat. We caught a big bushel basket full of crabs. I thought that Mom was going to kill him when we got home and she had to steam all of those crabs. One got loose, and Mom climbed up on a chair screaming. Daddy chased it around that small kitchen with a pair of pliers. Those fresh steamed crabs were so wonderful. I don't think I have ever had such delicious blue crabs since that night.
