Gui Chai (Thai chive dumplings) in LA?
You can buy a frozen one at Lax-C market in LA. It is a wholesale market but anyone can shop there. A lot of Thai restaurant buy Gu Chai Gui from there and sell them at their restaurant. You can pan fried or steam them. But it taste better with pan fried. The taste will be very close or almost like what you get in Thailand.

Can anyone recommend any good restaurant for Happy Hour? My husband love wine but I don't drink, so I would love the restaurant that have a good price on drink and food. We are stay at American Canyon but we willing to drive to good food :).

Have anyone try all you can eat sushi at Gladstone in Long Beah?
I just found out that they have all you can eat sushi for $22.95 on Wednesday after 3.00 pm. I am wondering about the quality of the sushi and what kind of selection they have. I can't find the sushi bar menu on their website. Have anyone try? What your thought on that?

I agree with you. Their mussele is the best. The other dish that I like is oxtail soup. It is very good and have a lot of favor.

I agree with you on Cancoon. It is very good and authentic. It is not your typical Thai-American Food.
The best Thai restaurant in Long Beach, I would say Sri Maya on PCH. They got a very good review from Yelp (4 star out of 5).

Fore Mexican Restaurant I would recommend Patricia on Atlantic. They have very good taco. The price is very reasonable. The portion is HUGE. This one also get 4 star out of 5 on yelp. You will not disappointed.

Thai that will offer party trays
Try Sri Maya on PCH. This restaurant is very good. Got a good review on Yelp. I'm Thai and I ate their many time. Their food is very good. They also offer delivery service.
The price on their website is the old price. Their old price is too expensive for the area, so they adjust the price down and some of the items were no longer available. I would suggest you to call and have them fax the menu.
I talk with the owner when I was there. They bought their product from framer market and use a lot of organic items.
Now they have the 2nd location on 2nd street. That's location is very busy. I never eat there but I think you might get a better price from the one in PCH.

Thank you for the review. I really enjoy reading it. I went to your blog and read some of other review. I even sent your blog to my friend in Japan, so he can go to eat at the restaurant you mention. I wish I can write and photographed the pictures as good as you.
This restaurant is on my list along with the Kappa Hana that you review. Have you try Sushi Shibucho in Costa Mesa yet? It is one of my favorite place. I found out about this place in this chowhound. Sushi very fresh, very reasonable price with excellent service.
A lot of people on this broad love Sushi Shibucho so much. I would love to read your review and want to know what do you think about this place.
One thing I like about you is you can eat very expensive restaurant and at the hole-in-the- walls place.
Keep on writing...I love to read it. I think a lot of people feel the same way.
best deal on fresh sea scallops?
F & E scallop is fresh and not previously freeze like the one sell at the major supermarket. I have a friend who work at F&E he told me about how much F & E strict about their fresh quality. Their meat are no hormone and all F&E brand products don't have the artificial favor, no preservative. Their egg also come from the cage free chicken and they only sell that about $1.50 per dozen and that is their regular price.
Needless to say you don't have to worry that the scallop were treated.
best deal on fresh sea scallops?
I agree Fresh and Easy have a very fresh scallop. They are very fresh and taste much better than the frozen one from the Asian Market. Their scallop was catch fresh not a defrost one that you see from some supermarket. I bought 2 packages last time and I freeze on3. I just cooked the one I freeze this morning and it still taste VERY GOOD.
The price is very reasonable even when you can't find the marked down price. If you find the mark down price it didn't mean that it not fresh but Fresh and Easy has the policy that their product only have 2 days date on the package for the freshness. Even you buy the mark down scallop from Fresh and Easy it still much fresher than not mark down at other markets.
Need Help. All you can eat Korea BBQ.
Any suggestion on all you can eat Korea BBQ. I live in Long Beach, so I don't mind driving to Garden Grove, South Bay area or even Korea Town. Please also let me know the price per person.
I also would like to try the Korea BBQ with charcoal because I only get to try the gas grill.
The hungry cat for the lobster roll???
I had in Napa Valley last year. It cost me $30.00 for one lobster roll. It was good but I don't think I will order them again. I went there with my lawyer friend who heard about the lobster roll at this restaurant, so she ordered it as appetizer, so we all share the food.
I think it was well overprice.
I want to try Omakase. Please help.
I went to Sushi Shibucho 2 weeks ago. I have to said that was one of the best sushi I ever have. I went there around 8.15 pm on Saturday. When I called in, the guy who answer the phone said he didn't think that I can get a seat tonight. But we already on our way there, so we decide to take a chance. Lucky, that we get a table. The wife was so nice and friendly. We order Omakase which was so good. We got to have 2 Toro each. At the end I wan to order more Toro but it was out. Toro was kind like melt in your mouth.
The only thing that I was disappointed was we got the sushi omlett with our Omakase. I thought it will be all fish.
We can't stop talking about how wonderful the sushi was on the way home from Costa to Long Beach. We will definatley go back there again.
Thank you everyone who told me about this restaurant. Now, it become one of our favorite. Such a wondeful experience.

As far as I know they will not re-open. All the vendor already move to the other location. Unfortunately, I do not remember where they move to. I will try to find out and get back to you.

Have anyone have dinner at Ritz Carlton Hotel in Pasadena? How is their 5 course chef tasting menu? How good it is compare to order off their menu? How often the chef tasting menu change? Is it a good portion or small.

You can call and ask if do the catering. My friend and I try the beef jerky and we love it. A lot of Cambodian food are similar to Thai food. They have something like chicken satay but you can tell them that you only want Cambodian food.
There are a lot of Cambodian market in Long Beach but I never buy the beer there. I think you can get information from this restaurant.

It is right on the beach. Good food. Good service. If you get there around 7.00 pm you probably catch a sunset.They have a lot of good beer on the tab that you can try. I love " Seafood Leo" -Shrimp, scallops, salmon & halibut baked in filo dough with lobster cream sauce.

Las Barcas in Hunington Beach on Beach Blvd and Atlanta. This is a local hangout and a lot of surfer eat there. Family own. My friend's son used to work there, I know that they use a good ingredient. Good portion. Carnitas there is also very good.
You can also order your fish to be grill not deep fry.

When I have a visitors from out of town I always take them there and all of them love it.

We went to this restaurant in Downey. They serve Scandinavian food and have a Swedish meatball. Scandinavian pancake is also good. It look like a French crepe serve with jam.
