Don Coqui where MacMenamin's Grill was?

I passed MacMenamin's in New Rochelle while on 95 the other evening and it's now something else, It's call Don Coqui. After searching it, it's seems to be a partnership between Brian MacMenamin and Jimmy Rodriguez featuring Caribbean {Puerto Rican) food.

Jimmy has a long history in the city starting with Jimmy's Bronx Cafe and up to recently Sofrito's on 72nd street in Manhattan.

Very interested in this partnership has anyone tried it yet?

Lower Westchester Italian Delis

I went to Cosmo and Alex for the first time a couple weeks ago and I'll become a regular. It was busy due to the holidays but they were as pleasent as could be the prices weren't bad and quality was very good.

The Speckled Door, New Rochelle closes...

It's too bad; I would stop there about once a month. Food was good drinks were also. It was a good place to watch a game. They had really good wings, good burgers/sandwiches and interesting entree specials. The place must of cost them a lot to build, the wood work and bar were top notch.

Blue Hill ~ Stone Barns ~ your thoughts !

Take a look at the website there are at least 10 bottles at the $35 price point and even a red from Chile for $28. Granted there are some big ticket prices but there are over 75 wines for $75 or less. Some really nice Sicilian wines at $50 or so.

I just had the pleasure of eating at the French Laundry about 2 months ago and I wouldn't put the two places in the same league but BH@SB is by far my favorite special occasion restaurant in the area.

TriState Region Restaurants Feeling the Economic Heat?

I just looked on OpenTable and searched a reservation for tonight at 7pm for Westchester. Blue Hill at Stone Barns and X2O still had tables for tonight; also La Panetiere in Rye was giving 1000pts for any time. A couple months ago none of these places would be available when trying to make a reservation on the same night.

good brunch places in Westchester?

On the Way Cafe in Rye is the place you’re looking for. Omelets, pancakes, French toast with fresh fruit, really good daily specials, all at your price point. It’s a small place that really is on top of their game. And it has a cute homey country atmosphere.

Its at the intersection of Forest Ave and Playland Parkway right before you get to Playland.

So I have a bunch of places to go but what would be the the must go to places, breakfast, lunch and dinner? Price being somewhat of a factor since we are already going to FL. Thanks

Thank you hulagirl and maria, CIA is out. I don't have much choice on John Ash let’s just say, that one I have to give into.

As far as where we're staying, it’s the Doubletree in Rohnert Park. We have a designated driver and we have no problem doing some miles.

The group will probably split up on Monday and 4 of us haven’t decided on lunch and dinner.

I realize Greystone wouldn't be light dining, thats why I'm doing it Wednesday. Looking for lighter meals for lunch Sunday and Tuesday and have nothing planned for Monday.

I have been serching the board and have a bunch of ideas such as Bistro Ralph, Zin, Mosaic, the Girl and the Fig, Market. But I'm looking for a must have to stop in kind of place. When people come to NY I have a couple of those suggestion for them, such as Katz's for pastrami.

I'm not looking for ethnic food just a must go to place!

New York Hound’s looking for wine country recommendations!

Eight of us staying in Sonoma next Sunday through Wednesday; we have dinner reservations Sunday at John Ash and Tuesday at the French Laundry. Need to know a couple of casual lunch options and a casual dinner option. I don’t need two big meals in the same day so lunch could be salads, burgers or anything that is a wine country must.

I was thinking of lunch at the CIA, Greystone on Wednesday but am open for ideas. We have cars and we don’t mind driving just want to get a real feel of the area in the short time we’re there.

Best steak dinner in Westchester?

I hardly ever order steak unless in a steakhouse. This Sunday I was at a birthday gathering in Pelham at Villagio's. One special was a New York strip with chorizo and a smoky paprika sauce. The steak was real good, cooked perfectly, medium rare.

I certainly wouldn’t compare to Morton’s prime steak but a pleasant surprise.

High Street Road House

I also ate there Saturday evening, got there around 8:00 and was told a half hour wait. We went to the packed bar and had one round about 10 minutes later our table was ready.

Yes it was very hectic but the wait staff is supper friendly and made the wait for food bearable. We started with stuffed hot peppers, which are jalapeños with sausage and cheese, real good. I had Jambalaya and the misses had meatloaf. Both were big entrees and were very taste.

A couple of beers and 1 wine and the bill was around $50; a lot of value for the money. The place was busy but we had fun, we new lots of people and it was like going to a party, the way it should be in a Cajun place!

La Flor Cafe

I go to La Flor probably once a month, and never had a meal like you described. I was there about 2 weeks ago and wasn’t charged for bread. I always enjoy the food and think that for the money the value is high. When I go, usually I order Latin / Mexican type dishes that are always pretty taste. Also enjoy the guitar player and the laid back relaxed atmosphere.

Sorry you had such a bad experience, I hope you said something to them and you sent back the salmon.

Frank and Joe were the owners and while Frank has passed Joe is still there. I two still stop there and my daughters drive from Rye every once and a while for great pizza.

50th Birthday in Westchester.

Looking to throw a 50th birthday party on short notice. We're looking to have 35 to 40 people so we need a private room. Mid and lower Westchester would be convenient for most.

As far as price and cuisine, I'm looking at mid to expensive price range; probably don't want to go to the highest end though. Cuisine; Italian, modern American, Mediterranean, I'm open for ideas.

Harvest on the Hudson I'm looking into as well as Pacifico's in Port Chester. Any other recs would be greatly appreciated!
