Best cold Vietnamese spring roll in Hollywood/East? The uncooked kind with the rice stick noodles and shrimp. I've always preferred w peanut sauce and the chili sauce, but not sure if that's authentic... |

Where to go around White Sands or Alamogordo? Any place nice would be great, but also interested in little holes in the wall |

I had a great experience with Truly Yours, but I can understand some of the comments. I was not someone who had extremely strong opinions about every detail, and just wanted a lot of the minutiae handled (which they did). I didnt like all of their dishes, so do pay attention at the tasting. I love eating at Auntie Em's, but I just couldnt afford them for the wedding. The extras add up quickly with them. |

Would like a place we could sit down and have a beverage, rather than a truck. |

Question about Zuni Roast Chicken recipe cool, thanks |

Question about Zuni Roast Chicken recipe Skin. Kind of hard to "sprinkle" salt under the skin, so I think I put too much salt. Chicken turned into a big salt bomb. But I was curious if maybe my "sprinkling" technique was wrong. |

Question about Zuni Roast Chicken recipe Kind of stupid question, but will ask anyway... "Season the chicken liberally all over with salt and pepper {we use ¾ teaspoon of sea salt per pound of chicken}. Season the thick sections a little more heavily than the skinny ankles and wings. Sprinkle a little of the salt just inside the cavity, on the backbone, but don’t otherwise worry about seasoning the inside. Twist and tuck the wing tips behind the shoulders. Cover loosely and refrigerate." |

I'm in the midst of looking too. I think I've settled on Truly Yours. The people working there have been fab, really nice and roll with all of my nutty ideas. They do the whole shebang - all the rentals and even the dance floor - so pretty convenient too. The food is not blow-your-socks-off, but definitely edible. I really like Auntie Em's food and their staff is really cool, but I couldnt figure out how to make the money work (they are expensive). |

I love brunch, but I think I'm picky. Nothing too stressful please: would prefer to avoid long queues, live music, and salmonella. Nothing too scene-y: not interested in champagne brunches or the Darth Vader sunnies brigade. Looking for something on the westside or Hollywood. |

Mexican in SM or Venice for big group Looking for atmospheric and need to be able to handle a big group. Would be great if they had their own bar or were fine with us lingering. It doesnt have to be gourmet, and the more hole in the wall the better, but need to not freak out at big group. |

Citizen Smith on Cahuenga is less frantic for lunch than dinner. Hungry Cat would have been your best bet. Magnolia or Bowery pretty ok too. I had the worst experience at Off Vine so would rate that a big MISS. |

Wings and Beer for Patriots vs Cowboys Packer fan (for my sins) but I am omnivorous when it comes to football. |

Wings and Beer for Patriots vs Cowboys Want to find a fun/cool place to watch the Big Game. Good food is a plus. Sports bars can be very chain-y but would like some festive atmosphere. |

DC visitor seeking special dinner - not Komi I'm in town from LA for a wedding next weekend and looking for a place that's open Thursday July 5th. Komi was highly recommended by friends, but is closed for renovations. Looking for something American and DC-ish if possible. We dont want anything too fancy or stuffy (absolutely no places with dress codes - we are from LA where flip flops are considered black tie-appropriate) but cost is not a major drama. We are staying near Dupont Circle. Thanks! |

Anyone been to AXE recently (Venice)? Went for brunch on a Sunday recently. Food was good (simple) and the service was v good. The homemade ice cream, especially the lemon ice cream, was out of this world. |

Birthday suggestion 6 gr'ups + 1 kid So we're looking at 6p-ish and not swanky. Ideally Hollywood, WeHo, Silver Lake/Los Feliz |

Potato salad to go w Super Bowl Burgers? I'm not a huge potato salad fan, but have been tasked with bringing this to a Super Bowl potluck. Help. |

New Yorker coming to LA - Hollywood BLD is loud and dinner is just ok (but brunch is great). Had a disasterous meal at OffVine recently, so would wave him off there. Hungry Cat on Sunset and Vine (if he likes fish), Magnolia (fun - not really about the food), or Sushi Ike for old school sushi. |

I'm there with you. No Pudge brownies are pretty good, actually. Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches are ok too. |

Questions for seasoned Japan foodies Couple questions: |

Heading to Japan for the first time, and totally intrigued by the section below. Please elaborate. --Depachikas at Isetan, Takashimaya in Shinjuku and at Matsuya in Ginza. Oh. My. God. These have to be the greatest food invention of all time.....the selection of goods is just unbelievable. I tried as many things as I could afford, and everything was great. Bought curry donuts to eat for breakfast in the hotel room, too, nearly every day. Sure wish my neighborhood had something along these lines. |
