Where to find chocolate baking sticks, or substitute

Did you try again? Sadly I have to agree with your comment about the staff not necessarily having all the answers on the phone. Some are very knowledgeable and some don't really seem to know the stock at all.

Where to find chocolate baking sticks, or substitute

Oops, yes. That is what I meant. : )

Where to find chocolate baking sticks, or substitute

Sorry, can't help you with sourcing ready-made ones around here, but I make my own by melting good quality chocolate and using a mould for water bottle ice sticks.

Have you tried calling McCalls or Goldy's?

Organic Big Burger - Brown's Line, anyone heard of it? On a daily deal site today...

They sold the business. It's another Organic Burger place in there now. HAven't been it yet, but it's not a pop-up or ghost! Definitely real.

Schwepps- Bitter Lemon?

Bumping up this thread - I purchased the last bottle of Royal Club Bitter Lemon at the Top Foods near my place on the week-end, and it was amazing for a summery cocktail. Is there anywhere else this can be found? I'm not tied to the brand, if there are other options.

ISO: Newfoundland Savoury

Which one? I haven't been able to find it in ages.

I didn't realize it was from Newfoundland. Interesting.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Thanks!

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Where is it playing in Toronto? I can't seem to find it online.

Cinchona bark in Toronto?

Oops, yes, West. Thanks, I'll try over there.

We'll probably get bumped to another board for this, but may I ask what you made with it? Was it for tonic syrup? How did it turn out?

Cinchona bark in Toronto?

Bumping this up - there was an article in the recent LCBO magazine about making your own tonic for G&Ts. An Internet search shows Herbie's Herbs on Queen East, has any tried there? Or know somewhere else?

Pas de Choux? Pate de Choux! [moved from General Chowhounding board]

Exactly. I'm also French and that's exactly what it sounds like he's saying! I was wondering if it was actually an inside joke...

Pas de Choux? Pate de Choux! [moved from General Chowhounding board]

I've just noticed that Alton Brown calls pate de choux - 'Pas' de Choux on Iron Chef. I am normally a big Alton Brown fan, is this an internal joke? Or an American thing, to call it 'Pas" de Choux instead of Pate?

I'm not sure if this is the right board, but I am sure those eagle-eyed moderators will have my post down in no time if it's not!

ISO Dragon's Beard candy closer to downtown?

Too bad. But I guess it's worth the trek now and then! Tks.

Amazing Pie Recipe calls for uncooked eggs, how safe is this?

Agreed, my family often left the eggs out on the counter in Europe and they aren't necessary refridgerated in the store. We're extremely over-protective in North America.

ISO Dragon's Beard candy closer to downtown?

Does anyone know a place to purchase dragon's beard candy closer to downtown? I know about the guy at Pac Mall, but it's a bit of a trek.

Where to get European Orange Fanta???

Does it taste like the European Orange? The Tangerine flavour tasted nothing like.

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Too bad, thanks. I won't bother giving them a try then, unless someone else writes in. I do wish Freshrolls up on Queensway delivered!

How to make my cupcakes flat?

Agreed on lowering the temp 25 degrees. Cupcakes tops round off when the top sets faster than the inside - and the raw inside pushes up on the top as the inside continues to grow and set. You'll need to add a few more minutes for baking, of course.

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Has anyone been to Longrain since it changed over from Siam Princess? Any comments?

Huge Chowfind: Chodang Soon Tofu

Still there and still definitely worth the trek. Not fancy, but delicious.

Ottawa Restos Not To Miss?

+1 on Navarra. The guiancale was amazing. Also the Aglio e Olio pasta.

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

How new-ish? Worth trying again? I'm on the exact same page, I always really want to like this place but it's never a great experience when I give it another chance. It's been a little while since I've been in, though.

St. James Gate Pub Etobicoke - great food and atmosphere!

Where is it, exactly?

Chowfind: Marrakech (Moroccan) 1326 Danforth

Has anyone been recently? What is the new name of the restaurant in this place, is it still Moroccan?

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

I wonder if they have a new chef in the kitchen? I've ordered from Bombay On The Lake now and then over the past two years and it's been fine and tasty, but nothing I would write about. Then last week my dining partner and I ordered from them and it was amazing. The Chicken Madrasi in particular was one of the best Indian dishes I've ever eaten.

As a side note they have always been some of the nicest people as well. Always so friendly and welcoming, even on the phone.

2011 Food and Resto CLOSINGS

Has anyone been since the changeover?

aglio y olio

Doesn't help you in Toronto, but if you happen to be in Ottawa, definitely stop by Navarra in the Byward Market. Oddly a Spanish restaurant with a mostly Italian menu, but the best Aglio y Olio I've had in a restaurant in Canada.

I'm also a Torontonian though, so I will be happy to hear any suggestions a little closer to home

The Break Up Diet

Oh, I'm so sorry. Keep hope, I lost an 11 year old cat and found him almost 5 weeks later. It was the posters that did it, finally someone in the neighbourhood came by my place to say they'd noticed a cat matching the description hiding behind their garage.

Copper Chimney

I called the other night for take-out after reading positive reviews here and the gentleman on the other end of the phone actually hung up on me. Busy night, I guess, it sounded pretty mad in the background but I was shocked.

From the various reviews here, I'm not sure whether it's worth another try, though good Indian in an easily driveable distance would be great.

Edible sugar pearls

Have you tried McCalls? I know I have seen them there, though I can't think whether they were Wilton's or not.
