Dish Bistro & Bar Pasadena
Was there Saturday, EPIC FAIL. The actual menu is half of what was on the WEBsite and there were no specials. Salad was bland, I don't think it had any dressing on it, and I ordered the Duck and it was so rubbery I sent it back, the waiter was at our table 2 times the whole night, once to open the wine once to take the duck back. My dinning partner was finished with his meal by the time my Duck was brought back out, which was then charred black. He had the rib eye that was overcooked. We were both so disapointed as it was a special occasion and had brought a beautiful 2000 Stags Leap Merlot to celebrate.
Good Italian Food
This looks great and we were able to get an 8:30 Reservation! Thanks to all!
Good Italian Food
Going to SF on Weds-Fri and would love some good Italian food. I am craving some delicious pasta! We are staying at The Palace Hotel so anything within walking distance or short cab ride. Its been 20 years since I have visited the City. So any thoughts and suggestions would be helpful!

Dinner in Santa Monica tonight! HELP!
Decided on Chez Jay. Menu looks like is within our budget since the entrees include everything. Also I was there years ago and loved the divey aspect of it :) Plus our young adults are not actually foodies, and this menu looks like it will have something for everyone. Thank you all!
Dinner in Santa Monica tonight! HELP!
Looks good but we want more of a dinner place. Maybe a total of $40 pp with tax. I was looking at maybe Chez Jay? Anyone been there lately.
Dinner in Santa Monica tonight! HELP!
Going to Circ de Soliel tonight and need some suggestions on where to eat. There are 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 young adults (17-21). Not to pricey but good. Any and all suggestions are welcome, I don't know the area well so need some help.
Help - BBQ Catering?
Canyon City BBQ in Azusa will cater and deliver right on time!. I have used them for various occasions including a 40th birthday. They are delicious!
Pre Reunion Dinner Pasadena
Thanks for all the Rec's!! The consensus was Smitty's so we have reservations. My experiences there have been fine with the food, once I had horrible service. I am hoping there will be no problems.
Also I am curious about Marstons? Why the thumbs down? I was interested in their dinner, now I am not sure.
a diabetic eating out needs suggestions
Whole Foods Hasting Ranch location does sushi with brown rice, and "bowls" with brown rice if you want.
Pre Reunion Dinner Pasadena
Thanks these are great suggestions. I was wondering if anyone has been to Marstons for Dinner. The menu looked good, and was a little cheaper than Smittys.
Pre Reunion Dinner Pasadena
I will be meeting a few of my "girlfriends" from high school in Pasadena for dinner. We want to have meal somewhere fairly close to the Hilton where we won't be rushed so we can crash the reunion afterwards (30 years). I am in charge of making the recommendations since I live in the area still. I have been told that they don't want to spend more than $30 each without booze. Suggestions please?
Nice relaxing dinner in Arcadia?
Stay away from Lozano, horrible service, marginal food, way over priced for what you get.
President Thai in Pasadena
I like President Thai. Its close and convenient for me and I think the food is good, much better than Saladang, and much more reasonable. Almost erything I have ordered is good, I especailly enjoy the Larb, which I somtimes get to take in. Its not Thai town, as there are many on this board who only like the Tahi there. But I enjoy it. The parking does suck, but the service is usally very good.
E.Coast Chefs in LA for 3 days- end of june
I would suggest the LB in Sierra Madre instead of Pasadena, not so gross and the fish and chips are decent.
Good Chicken Fried Steak
I have heard though those who like CFS that Taste of Texas in Covina/Azusa is really good.
Best Tuna Salad Sandwich in Pasadena?
I think the Pasadena Sandwich Co. has a really good basic tuna sammie. Its on Madre just N of Foothill.
Nano Cafe now Fresco's?
I think they have more normal hours, and are open for dinner every night. Not sure about the beer and wine, but I think they still do.
Nano Cafe now Fresco's?
Yes!!! Thats it! I have never had it, but people I know seem to love it. I think the beans are quite good!
Nano Cafe now Fresco's?
The new owners have had a naming contest going on for a while with gift cards as the prize. I used to occasionally have breakfast there, but never tried the CFS. If you want that, I heard the best is at that tex mex place that is on Citrus in Covina. Cant remmebr the name now!!!
Sushi in Pasadena?
Roku is over priced. Ther ate plenty of better places for the money. Yoshido in San Marino, Mako in Arcadia.
Azusa Restaurants
I work in Azusa so I eat there often for lunch. The best is Canyon City BBQ, great food, open wed-sun, Rancho Los Maguyese is good too, especially their soups and margartias, I prefer La Tolteca for chips and chile rellenos, Dino's chicken gets great marks here on the chow boards, but I thinks its just ok. Il Forno is a newr italian place in the downtown, its hit and miss. BTW Balzac cafe closed a least 2 years ago, there is a nasty shushi place that took it location, Arigato.
Jake's - Hot Dogs in SGV
Yumo! Yep they are good. I work up the street, today I "officially" tried the bacon wrapped and fries. I liked it and I normally don't like hot dogs. The owners are really nice, been very supportive in the community. Try 'em out.
UGO Culver City - going downhill
Is this related to the Ugo's that opened recently in Sierra Madre?
Going to Providence
Thanks for all the info. We went Saturday. it was an amazing experience. I had two complaints, one is that we wanted to do the tasting menu, him the full menu me the 5 course. THey were not ok with that. Timing issues, which I sorta understand, but just leave me out of those courses and hold mne til the next, so not really, also the substitute for the veal was salmon. I was not sure if it was even cooked, the server could hardly speak english and when I ask about the preparation he mumbled something. It was ok, but tasted kinda like it was smoked or gravloxed but not cooked. Any comments on that? My BF said the veal was amazing. We ended up with the 5 course tasting and added an addtional course, they chose lobster whcih was fine by me, and pretty good.
Going to Providence
Would both of us have to substiture, or could just one of use do it. Since my BF will probably want the variation.
Going to Providence
Cool, sounds like it won't be a problem. I picked it becuase they are known for their fish/seafood. You guys are all great, and thank you for the Birthday Wishes!!!!
Going to Providence
I am going to Providence this weekend for my birthday. Don't think the budget will support the chefs tasting menu, so I would like to try the fixed tasting menu. However I recently decided no more beef/veal. I saw that movie Fast Food Nation. Will they accomodate that request on the fixed tasting menu? Or do I have to go with ala carte? I know you guys know!
Seafood in Pasadena?
My fish has always been overcooked. here. I have never had a decent piece and I stopped going back years ago.
