I've been to the consumer tasting. It can get super busy, so it's best to do a tour around the various wine rooms first (I do it with a glass of bubble in hand) and pick and choose as you can't try everything! trust me! Then pick your fave whites and while trying them suss out the reds you want to try, or do it by winery. I try and hit some of my fave wineries (Fairview Cellars, Wild Goose, Lake Breeze, 7 Stones, Quail's Gate, Dirty Laundry etc) and then try some I've never tried before. And remember to grab a (free) bottle of water on the way out for the taxi ride. |

A Winemaker's dinner usually does involve having someone from the winery there and introduced etc. Usually with each course a short blurb about the wine and food about to be eaten is normal. That is for 1 winery dinner, if you are going to a multi course multi winery dinner, ie based on region perhaps (Wines from Chile) then each wine is introduced but someone from each winery isn't usually there but there is a host to give the short blurb. That being said there are restaurants all over town who will pair wines for you for multiple courses without the talking. |
