Northeast transplants looking for wine stores near Cedar Hill, TN
We just recently moved to Cedar Hill, TN from the Boston area and are in desperate need of a good wine store. Hoping for quality selection and full-price range from lower-end (even box wine) to top quality, even case discounts.
Also, two questions: what are the regulations regarding shipping wine into TN and are any areas/counties BYOB?
Thanks for any info!

Breakfast in Portland, ME
Any great breakfast places in Portland to try? Looking for pancakes, french toast, eggs benedict, home fries, good pastries, etc. type of place (not just grab a muffin at a coffeehouse). Thanks.
Favorite Chocolate Shops in Boston
This is a well into the future heads up but Choco Choco House in the South End (Pembroke Street) recently closed but the space has been taken over by Lee Napoli who has done pastry for various restaurants in Boston and Cambridge. She says it will be a chocolate shop and I hope she will also do some of her pastries.
Mid-afternoon bite in Harvard Square?
Any suggestions where to grab a somewhat leisurely bite in Harvard Square Tuesday afternoon? I'm not looking for fast food but it doesn't have to be fine dining either. Is the bar at Casablanca open during the day?
Also, I thought I'd read that Burdick's moved - if so, can you tell me where it is? Thanks.
Must-go places near Stow, etc?
We've got a Zipcar for tomorrow and are going apple-picking in the Stow area, Honeypot Hill and Shelburne Farms. First, any other farms in the vicinity we should go to? Second, any restaurants, pubs, bars, etc. that would be worth stopping in to? I'm not familiar with the area but while I've got the car, I thought it would be fun to branch out. Thanks for the suggestions.
Boston (Preferably not too far astray from the South End)
Keep in mind this weekend is Pride (could be why you're coming to visit) so the SE, while always busy on the weekend, is going to be CRAZY! Have a great time!
Recommendations for French macarons?
I just returned from Paris and while there, I gorged myself on, well everything, but mostly the little french macarons. Now I need my fix. Does anyone know where I can get them, in either Boston or Cambridge? Especially the pistachio ones!
Farmers' Market opening date?
Anyone know when the markets are opening, especially the Copley Square one?
Rocca update?
Anyone been to Rocca in the last week or two? I'm wondering if things have smoothed out since their opening? I read the previous posts but give they've had a little time, what's the general opinion? Anyone been on the patio yet?
Looking for Absinthe
I will be in staying in Paris in the Latin Quarter for a week and would love to try some Absinthe. I've read that the "old-time authentic" Absinthe is illegal but I would still like to experience the process of the the drink, etc. Any suggestions?
Paris 5/12-5/18 recommendations?
I'll be in Paris staying in the Latin Quarter. Any recommendations for that area as well as other must-tries throughout? Medium budget, great wine a must (though not necessarily prix-fixe), fun/personalable (though not Friday's fun and friendly). Also, (not necessarily food-related) is it better to use traveler's checks, euros? Get them in the US or in Paris?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Franklin Cafe, again
I love the Franklin and specifically went in to get the duck spring rolls. I was so excited. But....they changed the menu as of Tuesday and weren't on the new menu. So I consoled myself with a fresh pea soup (strong ham flavor) with creme fraiche and a curried short rib with isreal couscous app. Both were very good although the soup's flavor was more split pea with ham than something lighter for the spring. But that was my interpretation of the menu and I didn't clarify. Entrees were the steak frites (very good) and a pork tenderloin with cheddar grits and grilled peaches, which was absolutely delicious. The pork was so tender and flavorful and the peaches (wherever they came from in April were really flavorful too). But the best part was the Faust Cab - $58!!! This is a big, brawny red from the makers of Quintessa and it was fantastic. I've seen it on lists in Boston well over $100 so it was a delicious bargain. I'm continually amazed at the wine prices here. There is always something great and affordable to try. So I did manage to recover quite well from not having the duck spring rolls.
Any restaurants serving shad roe?
I just had lunch at Locke Ober and Shad Roe is the first entree on the menu. (However, don't go in jeans; you'll have to sit in the bar/lounge.)
Any info on Coda?
I understand Coda is going in the space previously occupied by Tim's Tavern. Anyone know anything about it - owners, type of cuisine, estimated opening?
Best Oyster Deal
Every night between 5-7, 28 Degrees in the SE has local oysters for $1 each. I think they are from Duxbury. They are shucked to order and come with cocktail sauce, a traditional mignonette as well as a cilantro mignonette which you could drink it's so good. There is only the one type but they are delicious. And that early in the evening you can actually hear your conversation.
Need over the top buffet brunch
I'm taking my sister to Sunday brunch next week for her birthday and am looking for a lavish buffet. We used to go to various hotel brunches and I'm wondering if they're still as good as they used to be. Has anyone recently been to the Four Seasons, Boston Harbor Hotel, the Taj, Henrietta's? Any other suggestions? A raw bar is a must! Thanks!
Mardi Gras/Chinese New Year menu ideas?
There is a Walmart in Lynn, Weymouth and Quincy. Unfortunately none are T-accessible but at least they're closer than NH.
