Need an Italian Reco in CT
IMHO First and Last in Plainville is better than Pagliacci's or Joey Garlic's. It has the best Lasagne in the area. Peppercorn's in Hartford is excellent too.
New Haven Thursday Lunch
I'm meeting a friend in New Haven for lunch and we want something affordable but on the quiet side. Have ruled out Claire's and Louie's because of the chaos. Any rec's? Would prefer something other than Asian or Indian but will settle for that if it is our only option. Thanks!
romantic dinner in fort lauderdale for tonight
We're trying to find a romantic (nice atmosphere possibly a view, etc) for dinner tonight. Love cafe sharaku but hubby says its not inviting enough. He wants tuscany grill on los olas but i think the food is just ok. Any suggestions?
Provincetown - what's the best?
The Mews has always been our favorite and last month, when we went up to ptown for the year, it didn't disappoint. It has been the most consistent and creative food venue in town.
BYOB Hartford Area
we love the Pond House in West Hartford. Even though they have a liquor license now, they still allow you to bring your own. I think the corkage fee is $5. Also, Somewhere in Bangkok in Plainville is wonderful. It is some of the best Thai food in the area.

CT Hound looking for unique foodie experience for birthday
Sounds wonderful! I would love to go. Unfortunately, my partner in crime is not a sushi eater. Any other ideas? Italian, French, Cuban, American? Tried Michy's before and wasn't impressed. Thanks for you help!

CT Hound looking for unique foodie experience for birthday
I will be in town mourning the demise of my 39th year and looking for a must-have restaurant or experience in the ft. lauderdale-miami area (staying in Dania with a car). Wine dinners or special event dinners are plus. I do know that Miami Spice is going on and I can't wait to try some of those resaurants (Scarpetta's for sure). But, is there one place that is not to be missed even if it doesn't have a MS menu? Price is not problem as long as it is not a rip-off. :) Thanks for your recs!
Mini Cannolli Shells
There used to be an Italian pasta shop/bakery in Hollywood. I think it was called Mary's? I haven't been in a while though. If you can't find the shells, I recently used small sugar ice cream cones as a substitute and filled them with a very tasty ricotta.
2 nights at Hollywood Beach
I agree, Giorgio's Bakery has the worst cofee ever!! We usually grab a cup at the Marriott and a croissant from Giorgio's and sit on the beach.
For Pizza, Anthony's Coal fired pizza on US 1 in ft. lauderdale, just north of the airport, is teh best.
Best "must go to" Restaurant in CT (but not fairfield county)
went to Mill on the River and it was excellent!

Best "must go to" Restaurant in CT (but not fairfield county)
Wandering what the absolute must go to restaurant is in Connecticut excluding fairfield county. Want to take my in-laws for a wonderful meal on Mother's Day but Fairfield is a little too far. They love the Max restaurants in Hartford area but I was thinking of someplace with a nice scnenic drive. Any thoughts?
SOBE sit-down Affordable restaurant
I couldn't find anything on Rosinella's but cafe books & books and Tarimesu look interesting. We were at Lario's 15 years ago. Glad to see it is still around.

SOBE sit-down Affordable restaurant
It seems that all the places in Sobe are either shacks or burger joints or they are expensive. We're looking for something within walking distance to Ocean Drive (on Lincoln Road perhaps?) where we can get tasty food around $10 - $20 an entree. We'd even be up for doing appetizers at several places too (restaurant hopping) as long as everything isn't fried. Thanks!
Any thoughts on Casa Bella and Cafe de Paris(Las Olas)?
We went to Anthony's Runway 84 in Ft. Lauderdale which is just south and a west of the airport (5 minutes from Dania). We thought it was one of the best Italian places in the area (and being Italian/Americans from the Northeast, we know Italian!) http://runway-84.com/

Ft. Lauderdale New Year's Eve Recs
thanks for a great response! I booked a reservation for Himmarshee before I read this though. Its for 8pm so I'm hoping the crowd won't be too rowdy at that point. We plan on eating and leaving the area to ring in the new year elsewhere.
Market 17 and Yolo will definately be on our list while we are in town.
Ft. Lauderdale New Year's Eve Recs
By looking on this Board, Candela and Himmarshee look interesting. Market 17 looks good too but kinda of pricey. Are the petite portions really small? Yolo also looks good but I hate when they don't put prices on the website menu. Thoughts?
Ft. Lauderdale New Year's Eve Recs
Flying in to town that morning and won't have time to scope out the area. Anyone recommend something good between Dania and North Ft. Lauderdale? We like a variety of foods so not looking for anything specific. A nice atmosphere or view would be enjoyable. Thanks!
Best Places in Connecticut to eat outdoors --> April 2010 version
I second Sharpe Hill Winery. You have to make a reservation and hope for good weather but the experience is AMAZING!
Ft. Lauderdale--Cafe Sharaku, a real gem
We went on our last night in Ft. Lauderdale and it was just wonderful! the portions are not huge but every bite was just a tastey dream. Our server, Maiko (she goes by My) was terrific. We had the 4 courses with a bottle of wine and left very satisfied and with some money in the wallet. We can't wait to go back which, unfortunately, won't be until late Fall.
Best New Haven restaurant
Just went to Ibiza last night and it was one of the best meals ever! The service was top notch too. I had the salmon with mushrooms, potatoes, bacon, and a creamy sauce that was soooo good I almost licked the plate!
New Haven Hapy Hour
We're going to Ibiza for dinner on Friday and would love to do a good happy hour in the area first. Any suggestions?
Hey, CT: Where do you buy your sausage?
Angelo's Market in New Britain has really good sausage. Chicken sausage from Trader Joe's is also very tastey. The costco sausage was too fatty for my taste.
citrus groves
Hi,
I'm looking for a good citrus grove to visit while in Fort Lauderdale (actually Dania). We've been to Blood's when it was in Delray but that maybe there might be something a little closer.
Thanks for your help!
Valentine 40th Anniversary Dinner on Los Olas - Ft. Lauderdale
I second Las Olas Cafe. It is a very cute and romantic spot and the food is really good. The menu doesn't really change much but that won't be an issue for you. The service is just outstanding. Ask for Jonathan. He is one of the best servers we have ever had.
In my opinion, Mancini's is extremely overpriced and the food really isn't that great. I think Rino's Tuscan Grill is much better. The service is wonderful and the food is outstanding. Actually, that is a very romantic place as well especially if you sit by the little canal.
Southern italian
I've heard that Runway 84 in Fortlauderdale is very good Italian but I haven't been there yet. We've been to Casa D'Angelo on Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale which is very very good but expensive.
Birthday Dinner within 45 minutes of Hartford CT
I always forget about Mill on the River. Sometimes I forget that South Windsor really isn't that far.
Thanks for all the recs. We decided on Abigail's in Simsbury. I'll let you know how it goes!
Abigail's in Simsbury?
Yes. We decided on Abigail's for the birthday dinner. Several friends have said the food and service was really good. I'll have to post our experience. I've been to Amelia's before and I didn't care for it. Not very creative and overpriced. Of course, we only went there once so maybe the menu is different now.
Abigail's in Simsbury?
I've been there for lunch and thought it was good. Has anyone been there for dinner?
Wine Fest
We went to the Sun winefest on Sunday which is always less crowded. It was a lot of fun if you take it for what it is and let yourself have a good time. I don't mind tasting so called "low-end" wines as long as there are so decent ones. I, of course, enjoy really nice vintages too but the $10 - 15 is what I drink during the week so why not find something really likeable? I never sit and watch the cooking demo's but you can always find the celebrities on the floor tasting wine when their gig is done. I had a great talk with Betty from Top Chef and also Robert Irvine that way.
As for other wine tastings, I would love to know what is good out there. I've been to one at this restaurant in Cromwell (Baci Grill maybe?) that was really good and, of course, there are a few good ones put on by non-profits too.
Birthday Dinner within 45 minutes of Hartford CT
I know. We are very late in deciding on a place given its V-day weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions. I never heard of the mill at 2T. The menu looks interesting. We haven't been to Carole Peck's in a while and the I completely forgot about the Firebox. Any more tips out there?
