Best dishes at The Modern (dining room) and Scarpetta

what about desserts? We all have major sweet tooths!

Best dishes at The Modern (dining room) and Scarpetta

Was the lamb really good - that doesn't sound that appealing and lamb is my favorite meat - of course I also love duck!

Bar Room, Scarpetta, Locanda Verde, Babbo, EMP, Momofuku Noodle - what to order

The sweetbread dish at Bar Room is amazing - especially if you have a sweet tooth. It comes with gingerbread! Also, their beignets are great!

Best dishes at The Modern (dining room) and Scarpetta

My parents are coming in next week for a celebration and we're headed to both restaurants. I've never been to Scarpetta and have only tried the bar room at the Modern which I thoroughly enjoyed. So I'm wondering, what dishes are must tries at both restaurants?

Thanks!

VOTE: Corton or The Modern

My parents are coming into town. Last year I took them to EMP and this year I can't decide between Corton and The Modern - anyone been to either of these recently?

Thanks!

Dinner for 2 with $150 cap

My husband and I would like to go for a special meal (any type of cuisine) while we're in London for a week in september. On previous trips we've tried a couple of restaurants (Gordon Ramsay ones) for lunch since the price at dinner is so astronomical. This time around we'd like to go for a dinner.

I'd love some rec's on great gastropubs or bistro types that will be a nice night out but won't break the bank!

Thanks,

what to eat at Perilla?

I'll be going for the first time this Monday for dinner and I'd love suggestions as to what their best dishes are.

Thanks!

Beer!

My very close friend who a couple of years ago became a beer expert (ie she judges beer competitions, writes articles about beer and has a fledgling beer tasting company) is coming to visit NYC for a week. I am not a beer drinker so I have no idea what places (restaurants, bars) she must try. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! She hails from Toronto.

bar at the modern or DBBistro

Which has better food? This is for a pre-theater dinner! Or should we go to Maze?

Aureole pre-theater

Friends of mine are coming in from Toronto in Nov and we'll be going to God of Carnage together. I've made a reservation at Aureole and wanted to know if anyone has tried their pre-theater menu. I was choosing between Gordon Ramsay at the London, DB Bistro (which I've been to a couple of years ago). I recently noticed The Modern is also a possibility but a little farther away from the theater.

Suggestions? Is Aureole doing better than their shaky start in the summer?

NYC Food and Wine festival advice - Godiva Chocolatier presents SWEET

My husband and I have tickets to Godiva Chocolatier presents SWEET. We've never been to a festival event and we're wondering what we should expect. Should we arrive right at the start time (9pm), or early, or late? Any info would be welcome.

Thanks

celebration dinner at 11:30pm on a Wednesday

probably balthazar or blue ribbon would be most up my alley, food wise. do you have a preference between the two?

celebration dinner at 11:30pm on a Wednesday

where would you go for a great meal at 11:30pm?

would you go to picholine, bar boulud or nougatine before the opera?

does that mean you favor telepan over the others?

would you go to picholine, bar boulud or nougatine before the opera?

All three are well reviewed and reasonably priced, so which is the yummiest?

would you take your parents to Blue Hill or Gramercy Tavern?

thanks for the advice, i had planned to call exactly a month ahead, but didn't realize it needs to be right at 9

now i'm leaning towards emp

would you take your parents to Blue Hill or Gramercy Tavern?

they live in Toronto. They don't go out much anymore, but used to go to 2-3 star michelin restaurants in France. Their most recent amazing meal was last Jan in Barcelona at Cinc Sentits. In terms of setting I would say anywhere with great food would do, but probably more towards warm and comfortable, rather than upscale and cold.

would you take your parents to Blue Hill or Gramercy Tavern?

My parents are visiting us in NYC this fall and I'm having trouble picking a restaurant. The limit is $100/person before liquor. I've also really been wanting to try EMP, but I think I'll save it for just my husband and me to do their big tasting menu. Any advice?

dessert wine tasting at wineries

we'll be travelling b/w Napa and St. Helena, both on 29 and silverado trail and then b/w sonoma and healdsburg with stops around forestville and sebastapol. i'm not very familiar with fortified and red lh - however i am happy to try anything. I do really enjoy port.

degustation

My husband and I are going to degustation in a couple of weeks. We'll probably order a la carte - any must try dishes? Also, i've read mixed reviews about dessert offerings so I'm thinking we should head elsewhere for dessert. Right now I'm between Blue Hill, Tavern at Grammercy and Chikaliscious, are there any other recs?

dessert wine tasting at wineries

my husband and i are spending some time in napa and sonoma and we both enjoy dessert wines, especially muscats. are there any wineries we should be visiting to taste sweet wines?

George or Perigee for parents' 40th

Thanks for your input. My parents haven't really been checking our restaurants like they used to. So I don't think they are very familiar with the TO scene. I think they generally feel the TO scene is unimpressive. They like North 44, have liked Scaramouche and been unimpressed with Canoe. I thought of just going with North 44, but decided that they should try something else (and probably better!) I don't live in TO, so all I can go by is my research on Chow and restaurants menus. So based on reviews and restaurants menus, I feel Perigee is my best bet knowing their tastes.

George or Perigee for parents' 40th

I want to give a gift certificate towards one of these restaurants. Any thoughts? Am I missing something even better? They travel a lot so they're well versed on excellent food. But, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't enjoy anything too contemporary.

Thanks for the help.

Napa or Sonoma for Syraz lovers

Sunnyand72 - I'm Canadian. I just wanted to be clear about my taste in wine so I could get some suggestions on must try wineries. I'm not very familiar with California syrahs since I tend to drink Aussie Shiraz's. So if there are any full-bodied spicy california reds that anyone can recommend, I appreciate the help. In the meantime I'll check out darioush

Mizuna or Kevin Taylor

Who has the better food?

Napa or Sonoma for Syraz lovers

thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep that in mind for another trip, but we'll definitely be sticking to the San Fran area.

Napa or Sonoma for Syraz lovers

I'm planning my first wine tour trip with my husband and I'm not sure which area to concentrate on. We'll be doing 3 or 4 nights. We're not very familiar with California wines. Our favourite wines are usually Australian Syraz or malbecs, especially high altitude Barossa valley. We're not really into white wine. I'm thinking we're going to want to check out some great Cabs and syrah on this wine tour.

Can I get some recommendations on wineries and whether Napa or Sonoma is the best area to start off with?

Thanks!

I'm definitely leaning towards Mizuna, but am curious about Kevin Taylor.
