It had to be at this great little french place, off the beaten path in New Orleans. It was an early afternoon meal, so my friend and I (Hi, Kate!) were the only people there. The light was beautiful, the setting quiet and intimate, the company good, and the food outstanding. What more could I ask for?
My current drink of choice:
The brewed coffee at Whole Foods is fantastic! Wait, is this supposed to be an alcholic drink? If so, the best drink I've had lately was a Pusser's Painkiller, watching the sun go down in the British Virgin Islands...
I really wish I could:
Lose 15 pounds. Travel more. Take a cooking class.
My favorite comfort food:
A good ol' downhome breakfast. Eggs, grits, bacon, toast. Coffee. Fresh OJ.
My most tattered cookbooks:
1940-something edition of Joy of Cooking. It covers the basics of good food, from scratch. And it might be silly, but I've also had some good use out of "The Surreal Gourmet Entertains," by Bob Blumer.
