The Brooklyn Pizza Factory...It's a Factory All Right.

I bought a slice of pizza about 1/2 hour ago at the Brooklyn Pizza Factory. I'll consider the $3.75 I spent as a donation to Chowhound research. It was, in a word, awful. Are these people trying to lose money? Do they taste their own pizza? The sauce kind of tasted like aluminum, although I can't honestly say I know what real aluminum tastes like. Everything just sort of sat on top of the crust, ready to slide off. This is always a bad sign. End of research. No one else needs to waste money, or risk their digestive system.

Dandelion wine?

Maybe they will carry this Dandelion wine. It seems perverse enough to try. Well, once anyway.

Joes of Avenue U or Gino's Focacceria

I was going to mention Ferdinando's myself. I love their pasta con sarde.

Frankies 457 lately?

I haven't been there recently, perhaps six months ago. Dinner has been good in the past, not superb, but good to very good. Unless a place is specifically geared for brunch, I don't find that brunch is a good barometer for evaluating a restaurant for dinner.

Palo Santo - some questions

What restaurant is it then?

Palo Santo - some questions

To the best of my memory they serve chips and salsa, not bread, as they are a Mexican restaurant. I don't recall a kids menu.

Enzo's (Windsor Terrace) finally open

I hope the service improves. Is that an understatement or what? But I'll let some other brave soul report back. Regarding the no liquor license and no BYOB, maybe it's a State Liquor Authority regulation. Does anyone know about that?

Korhogo 126

I concur. When you walk into the restaurant, the aromas are wonderful, a good sign. The food did not disappoint. The fish and seafood was impeccably fresh and the sauce had a beautiful layered flavor. I've been there twice and will go back without a doubt. The waitress was friendly and went out of her way with everything. The address is 126 Union between Columbia and Hicks. I hope more people try this reincarnation of Bouilliabaise 126. I certainly want it to succeed.

Why is it so popular to bash Peter Luger's?

I don't want my butt kissed, as you put it. Simple civility is all I ask in any restaurant. Being treated rudely tends to ruin my appetite. If you continue to frequent such an establishment you have lost your self respect. For steak?

restaurant suggestions for parents bday

I have no idea if they issue gift certificates, but Al di La on 5th Ave (I think on the corner of Carroll St) in Park Slope is very good and I think they would appreciate it. I think that they would be described as northern Italian. One problem is that they are nearly always crowded and don't accept reservations. The best bet is to go just after they open, and it will work out. I can't remember if they open at 5 or 6.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Park Slope...in the Winter

I could be wrong, but except for seeing eye dogs, aren't dogs in restaurants considered a health code violation?

Great cheap eats: Park Slope and Beyond

Don't think much of either Christies or Kombit. Better Jamaican food is at The Islands 803 Washington Avenue. Cheap but good food in a high rent area is probably not happening. Better to pay a little more and enjoy your food.

Quiet in Park Slope

I agree with the previous posters regarding the Garden Cafe. Another possibility is Rose Water which is on Union Street off of 6th Ave. I've found it pretty quiet there as well and the food is good.

downtown Brooklyn iHop?

I know you acknowledged that there are better food options, but frankly, starving is a better option.

Authentic Indian Food in Brooklyn

Kinara is still open and operating. A former pizzeria in the vicinity is being renovated, so that may have been what you observed.

Cube 63--new menu

Please include the location.

New Mexican Restaurant in South Slope

FYI I believe that the State Liquor Authority regulations are that if you don't have a liquor license, you can't sell alcohol. However, you can give it away.

Roti finally arrives in P. Slope

I agree that they are very friendly people and I hope that they succeed. However I thought the roti was just average. I prefer some of the places that I've found on Utica Ave, one of which is, I think, called Ali Roti. I believe that it is two blocks or so south of Eastern Parkway, on the east side of Utica Ave.

Looking for good Chinese food in Park Slope or Prospect Heights

The short answer is that none are good. Some are downright horrible, specifically Mr Wonton. Periodically I go to Vegetarian Palate on Flatbush Ave, nothing terrific, but o'kay. As the name implies, they don't serve anything that has had parents.

Quick and Delicious near the Brooklyn Gardens?

You can also try Joyce bakery, which is on Vanderbilt and Park Place. They have excellent deserts made with the best ingredient. They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for. They serve Gorilla coffee, which I like very much. The farmer's market is nice to wander around, although I don't think all that much about the pastries from the chief vendor of sweets, Bread Alone, but that's just my personal opinion. There is a coffee truck nearby that has surprisingly good coffee. The truck I think is called Brooklyn Coffee, or something like that.

Alaturka...buh bye?

One of the owners had a full time job and a family and was totally exhausted. It didn't help that the chef didn't listen to directions. He refused to stop over salting most things. Too bad, the owners were nice and we needed a casual place like that. Oh well. By the way I like your handle.

Food near Socrates Sculpture Garden

At the risk of showing my ignorance, where is the Socrates Sculpture Garden?

What is the best Levantine (Lebanese/Syrian, etc) Restaurant?

I absolutely agree that Tanoreen on 3rd Ave in Brooklyn is excellent. The owner cares about the food and she is also a wonderful hostess.

Quiet quality restaurants in Park Slope?

When you go to Palo Santo please share your thoughts on this board!

Quiet quality restaurants in Park Slope?

I really, really love Paola Santa. When I go there, somehow I feel that I'm on vacation. I know they play music, but I don't recall it being too loud. I love the vibe of the place and the food is terrific. Maybe pass by during the time that you are planning to go and see if it would be too loud for your friend. Another person mentioned Black Pearl. It may be quite, but I thought that it was way overpriced for the quality of the food.

Any suggestions on what to order at the River Cafe????

How was the service. I heard that it could be a little haughty. PS Did you accept?

Franny's Parking

The meters on Flatbush Ave run until 7:00 PM. If you don't mind walking a couple of blocks you should find a spot on the side streets. If you are coming during the week, Monday to Friday, be very aware that the west side of Flatbush Ave is NO STANDING from 4PM to 7PM. You will be towed if you park there during those hours, so please read the signs carefully. Having said that, you should be able to manage to find a spot.

Rehearsal dinner with a view?

Sorry you had that experience. Did they give you a reason? It's funny that you mentioned Alma, because that's the first place that occurred to me, because it was the only restaurant that I could think of with that kind of view. (Although the food, in my opinion, is only OK.) A water view or Manhattan skyline view is a tough one. Obviously River Cafe is out of the question. I wish I could think of something. Maybe you should take a drive around Dumbo, Red Hook and Williamsburg. Sorry I know this isn't much help. If something occurs to me, I'll post it at once.

A good Indian restaurant in Brooklyn?

Sadly, I haven't found one. Kinara on 5th Ave and 10th or 11th Street is the best that I've tried in Brooklyn.

Park Slope Delivery Favorites

Maybe I'm too fussy, but there is really no decent Chinese in Park Slope. Some people seem too like Red Hot Szechuan (sp?), but I've also read that they have had poor grades on their health inspections. They haven't been shut down though. I agree that Kinara is very good for Indian. I don't eat burgers or wings so I can't help you that. I also don't think too much of any of the Thai restaurants. On a good day, some are passable, but nothing more.
