It's Sunday from 1PM to close, in the cafe and, hopefully the patio if it's not too rainy.

There is a "Cottonwood's Last Call" party that day, I just saw the posting.
cookbooks: hidden gems?
I second the River Cafe cookbooks. Seriously fantastic food.
Best food or food related gift you have given or received?
My sister, knowing my addiction to farmer's markets and veggies, gave me a wok. I just replaced the one she gave me since I used the thing constantly, and that was after 10 years of solid use.
what are you eating right now?
Falafel, tabouleh, eggplant hummus, fresh pita, and siracha and some Mezzacorona pino grigio. Yum Yum
what are you eating right now?
love zucchini cakes, I like to add mint and feta cheese.
Middle Eastern Food in SD
Where can I find authentic Middle Eastern food? I'm looking for hummus, falafel, tahini, sliced pickles, stuffed grape leaves, gyros, etc.
Whole foods in Hillcrest
The breakfast pizza is really good. Sounds crazy but scrambled eggs on pizza with sausage is actually perfect.
Boston rooftop dining?
It is lunch only and a limited one at that, but they do have a full bar. Hollah!!!
Boston rooftop dining?
The rattlesnake is not the best for dining, absolutley for drinking. In the North End there is Ristorante Fiore at 250 Hanover, its right at the top by Bricco and Lucca.
Dried California Chili Pods
I just went by what the package said, I just went to double check and it is indeed spelled that way. Also I found a web site on the back of the package, it really fun to browse.

freezing cilantro
I got this tip from Nigella and I found it to work. Put it in a paper bag and then in the freezer. When you go to use it don't defrost it, just pop it in as is.
We try to compile all the "exotic" foods in SD
Brazilian: Rei Do Gado on 4th, Samba Grill in Horton Plaza is really good too
help! food late tonight
I don't, I want to say its a house brew, but since the taps are unmarked its hard to recall.

Stella is my vote, they have this dark beer on tap that is really delicious. Plus I love the all white room and bar.
A Romantic Getaway For 2 Foodies -- Need Recs!
The Barking Crab is always a good time. And as far as lunch near the common, try the Parrish Cafe. The menu is made up of sandwiches, entrees, and even drinks invented by Boston chefs.
Dried California Chili Pods
I found these in the grocery store but am at a loss at to what to use them in. Any ideas, suggestions, recipies?
Breakfast in SD
Am I the only one who thinks Hash House is overated? You may get big portions but of under seasoned, bland food with a tree of rosemary stuck in the middle.
Big fan of the Mission, Crest Cafe, Ticasso, and Rudfords
Help! Northend Italian. Ideas?
Mike's Pastry is still there, right on Hanover street. I am a huge fan of Mamma Maria's in North Square, but this link might help as well.

Looking for a good take-out/cafe place in the DC area
Sorry, you are right it is a big city. I'm looking for something that has components of meals, like a prepared food counter, but where you can stay and eat. Nothing cafeteria style.
Tasty Recipes for Weight Loss
One easy trick is to remove salt from cooking, it might be bland but once you get used to less salt in your food you stop putting it on everything.
let's share a cooking "trick"
I request paper bags and put the bag near my feet so I can dispose as I go.
let's share a cooking "trick"
I use smoked sea salt to add smokey flavor to anything and I use goats milk yoghurt instead of sour cream. I'm lactose intolerant and I also love the tangy flavor.
Credit Card to Secure a Reservation
People are more likely to show up or call and cancel if they give a credit card. Unfortunatley some people view a reservation as an idea, rather than a definitive, and just don't bother to follow-up after the call. By giving a credit card guests are given responsibility for making a booking. If you are indeed truly hesitant to give the credit card number, talk to the manager to possibly have it waved, or give the number of an expired card. As far as I know it is against the law to charge for a "no show".
Looking for a good take-out/cafe place in the DC area
I want to find a place that has both eat-in comfort food and basics to take out. Any suggestions? I want to stay within the DC borders.
Is it really expected that one order wine in fine restaurants?
Never be pressured to buy anything in a resturant, including bottled water, food specials, or dessert, that you do not want. A lot of times waiters become greedy and/or so used to people spending lots of money on wine that they are off put by people who do not. As a former waitress I know the pressure to sell sell sell.
