Dutch baby pancake?
I'm so happy that someone else in SoCal has enjoyed the presentation. It is really fun and the Pennekoken is very tasty and as nearly every other dish in RST, a huge portion. I'm now even more curious about finding a local version. Presentation would be a bonus.

Having spent some time in Rochester, MN, I fell in love with the Pannekoeken. I would also love to know where I can find something very similar to the MN version made by Dutch owners. BTW, when one orders the Pennekoeken in Rochester, Minnesota, when the waitress brings you your dish, she (and it is always a woman) skips to your table holding the pan with the pancakes and singing a Pennekoeken cheery song.

I convinced my husband to visit Veggie Grill for the "Crabcake." He loved it. In fact he said that it was better than some "real" ones he had. Also loved the tartare sauce.

FOODIE ON A DIET :( ... Need Healthy Restaurants
Santa Monica Seafood is one restaurant which comes to mind. I sat at the bar the other day and had a great bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder. I declined the bread which was offered. The man siting next to me was eating a piece of simply grilled salmon. I have also had steamed clams there, which were excellent.

Of course you should check this out. We are all talking about an incredible crab cake sandwich which contains no crab and , yet,tastes like crab. I have no idea how "healthy" this sandwich is. I am certain that the crab cake sandwich or my 2nd favorite, which is the"VBurger" has some redeeming nutritional value. Thanks to all for the positive feedback.

Great Fried Chicken (Take Out) from Farmshop..Sunday night special
I just want to clarify that the strawberries and peaches were items which I bought from the S.M.Farmer's Mkt. They did not come from FarmShop. Our meal was really good. As soon as my husband took off to pick up the chicken, I preheated the oven to 400. Popped some brussel sprouts in there and by the time the chicken arrived, we had some great caramelized sprouts and the chicken was still deliciously warm. Perfect meal!!

WOW! What a deal. $10.00 a pound for about a 1/2 chicken. For $20.00 (for 2) we had some amazing fried chicken. Picked it up in the Market Section of Farm Shop and as they had just come out of the oven. Those birds were still hot. Delicious chicken and it went well with the peaches and strawberries from the Farmers Market.

I believe that there is a seaweed component in that recipe to give it the seafood taste...and it definitely has a seafood taste.

Seriously, Veggie Grill is now preparing a delicious "crab cake." No faux crab, no real crab. Some genius in their company figured out how to replicate a delicious crab cake, bread it, fry it, serve it on a bun with excellent tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. I love crab cakes. In all honesty, this Vegan version could pass a blind tasting of "real v faux." $8.95 and includes one side.
This is one delicious sandwich. Big shout-out to the chef who created this amazing crab cake.
What to order at Scarpetta?
Last time I was there I had a ravioli stuffed with fois gras. It was amazing.
Crossroads Barbecue - Sepulveda Blvd. @ National WLA
I drove by Bricola on Montana today and had the feeling that those windows will also be covered by brown paper before we blink. Sad when someone has a vision and it just goes terribly wrong, e.g. Crossroads BBQ. Time to stop opening those ubiquitous Italian restaurants in Brentwood and have someone open a great BBQ in the Santa Monica/Brentwood area. Sick of Italian and so ready for BBQ.

Go to S.M.Farmers Market and buy some long-stemmed strawberries. Next stop: Trader Joes and buy their great chocolate which is sold at the check stands (everyone knows it is Valrohna). Melt chocolate, dip berries. Enjoy. So easy and so good and not expensive.

Be sure to check Milo and Olive's menu on a regular basis as it can change from day to day. Fortunately I did that today prior to picking up someone from LAX at 4:30. As I left LAX, I called in an order for the M&O chopped salad, which is a new item and just great. There were 3 of us. 1 salad and 2 pizzas were perfect. (particularly, with a hungry trans-con traveler on-board). We had the pepperoni pizza before, but the newer item was the Shrimp
sungold tomatoes, red onion, Sicilian oregano. One of the most delicious dishes I have had anywhere.Truly, I cannot thing of a better preparation of pizza. I don't know how they figured this all out, but the tomatoes were just right, the dough was perfectly done and the shrimp and onions were not undercooked nor were they overcooked. Sheer genius at work here,
Best gourmet ice cream and patisserie?
That peanut butter brownie is really delicious. I like it with a scoop of their fresh banana. Great combination.
