Catered Barbeque in Western MA?
I would recommend trying Fire Roasted Catering (jeremy stanton, now also the owner of the Meat Market butcher shop in Gr.Barrington) http://www.fireroastedcatering.com/
or Mad Jacks
Mi Tierra. Still muy muy bueno!!
Sarape in Enfield is actually my favorite Mexican inthis area - and outside of Oaxaca :) (just a bit far for me, so I try to fly in & out of Bradley to get there regularly!)
My favorite entrees are the puerco en pipian - tender pork cooked in a wonderfully complex and spicy green pumpikinseed sauce (pepita)
I also dream of their carnitas, but they aren't on the menu, just a sometime special unless you call ahead and arrange for them.
Now you've made feel the need to get to the airport........
Williamsburg Snack Shack re-opening for season tomorrow
Happy Spring hounds! Anyone know if the shack is open for biz yet?
Looking for breakfast, W. Stockbridge, MA area
Spoon in Lenox! They serve breakfast all day, and the choices and quality are unequaled.

Fresh corn tortillas in or near PIoneer Valley?
Whew! That's so good to hear. They have long been a favorite.
Anyone planning on eating @ Butterfly Chinese this week for their special new year's menu?
Any recs?
Fresh corn tortillas in or near PIoneer Valley?
I'd love to know that also. Just a fyi, visited Mi Tierra Thursday (first time in about a year) and was a little disappointed for the first time. Prices rose - from 4.99 to 6.50 for spicy pork tacos, but the filling was scarce in each, the tortillas tasted not so fresh, and the meat was gristly.
Wouldn't mind the $$ increase if the food was great as always....
Destination Dinner: 2 hours from Bradley Airport
I second the Old Inn! great great food (never stayed in any of the rooms so I can't speak for that)
The Berkshires is less than 2 hours from Bradley, a straight shot on the Mass Pike, and there's lots to see and do. Great Barrington is close to the Old Inn, and it is a good town for walking & shopping, GREAT cheese shop Rubiners (albeit rude and very expensive), don't miss the Norman Rockwell Museum, about 15 minutes from town.
Dinner in South Hadley?
Second rec for Thai place. Great curries, pad thai, tod mun - just wish it was closer!
SPOON-Lenox
I saw their menu - they have Niman Ranch hot dogs, pork belly and house corned beef for reubens (sounds like Cafe Reva in Lenox).
What used to be in their spot, I can't picture where this is?
Thanks for the review!
Bouche Noel in WMass or N. CT?
Patisserie Lenox in the Berkshires has bouche noel on their xmas menu. GREAT pastries

Restaurants in or near Lenox
Old Inn on the Green is wonderful. Go there for sure. The foliage will be great and they'll have their fireplace burning I'm sure. And the food is some of the best in the Berkshires. Peter Platt is a great chef!
Saturday lunch near Lenox
I agree mm! Red Lion Inn may be 'civilized', but the food is poor at best, tired and mediocre. Also agree with the review of Rubi's, too dear and costly for what you get. I would avoid Great Barrington anyway.
Pittsfield is only 7 miles from Tanglewood and has a great variety of ethnic and local choices. i would go to Cafe Reva for the best lunch (breakfast too), Brix Winebar is great, don't know if it's open for lunch in the summer.
Viva was great when we ate there a couple of years ago, if they're serving lunch I would try them also
Shaker Mill Tavern recently lost its chef, so maybe it would be a good time to hit them for lunch. The food is probably better!
enjoy.

Recs for Hancock, MA. area needed, please
I have to strongly disagree with the recommendation for Flavours restaurant. The food is just not good. Not once in many visits over the course of a few years.
The last time we went solely to hear a specific band, and got drinks and some 'safe' apps.
Not too safe I'm sorry to say.
Everything tasted prefab, premade, frozen and just fried and served.
I would not eat there again at all.
Mad Jack's Barbque in Pittsfield, MA
Before I ever knew that Dinosaur Bbq was actually a place, I discovered their sauce in Price Chopper years ago. BIG jar - great sauce! Better than mine. I bought it until I stopped seeing it on shelves. So they have always been a deity for me.
I usually wait for my trip to S. Carolina to see the folks for my Q fix!
Mad Jack's Barbque in Pittsfield, MA
Thanks for the good tip! I've been hesitant to try this after hearing more bad than good recs after they opened.
Sounds like they hit their groove. I'm planning on getting some takeout next week and I'll let you know if it passes the Q-test!

I think Sarape has the best tacos al pastor, but their corn tortillas aren't handmade. That honor is reserved only for Mi Tierra in Hadley on rt. 9. But they are good.
But everything at Sarape is as good. Next time try their puerco en pipian. It's lucious large chunks of tender pork in a spicy pumpkin seed sauce (creamy and green) with rice and beans. Yummm
If you call ahead they'll make you the best carnitas you'll have outside of Oaxaca.
Their seafood cevice tostada app is fresh and a great way to start a meal.
Also they have great tamales de elote (slightly sweet with corn). We order some to go home. Great late at night or in the morning with coffee.

New Vietnamese restaurant in Williamstown?
Here's the link to the post I remember reading about Saigon a while back.

(I think you're alter ego posted on that thread lol!)
Lenox, MA - baby-friendly recs?
Haven would be perfect for breakfast or lunch. Good, fast, and tolerant! Also a table on the lawn at the Village Inn. Good burgers. For dinner I'm not sure. Someplace with outdoor dining might be best. I'm sure you'll get lots of advice! Have fun.
Spice Dragon, Pittsfield MA
Oh no! I am hating reading this. I drive by the Dragon every day and it is so lonely and forsaken, wth the lone tan SUV in the lot.
I hope they can smooth out the kinks. And fast!
Asian market near Springfield, MA?
I really like International food market on Rt. 9 in Hadley. Really nice Cambodian couple own it, and they get some fresh ready to eat Asian and Indian food from NYC (samosas, dumplings, curries, yum). Plus it's right around the corner from mi tierra! :)

Dragon Steakhouse, Pittsfield
Whenever I've driven by it's looked closed and shuttered. One car or no cars.
When I read about them going into the Spice space on North St. I figured that's why they weren't operating at the Dragon site.
Now I'm really confused.
Maybe they will keep both open?
Can't wait to see their menu & prices on North st!
Fiori in Great Barrington (Ma) Lots of hype - any of it genuine?
Thanks! It's kind of what I was expecting to hear. The pics of the food look great (don't they always) and their links/facebook posts/ etc are all glowing but none are from regular , off the street, nonrelated diners.
To me the real thing is the food. Great food, good value, good vibe.
Pittsfield BBQ
There is a soul food/bbq place that opened over the winter on Francis Ave. called Jackjack's variety.
It's a small joint owned by a local guy.
I haven't tried it yet.
Berkshire eagle gave it a shout out in last week's food section BBQ article.

Fiori in Great Barrington (Ma) Lots of hype - any of it genuine?
So I'm wondering if there's anyone here on CH who's ACTUALLY been and eaten at Fiori?
They are great with social media and there are all kinds of links, and pics and lots of other 'Fiori generated' buzz out there on the internet. I guess I'm searching for an actual review of the joint.
I will probably wait until later when the season gets going full swing and I can really see what they about.
Just wondering if anyone's been yet.
Thanks (happy spring finally hounds!)
I need a little help from my springfield area friends
foodwallguy, have you really NEVER eaten at Sarape?? Time to remedy this.
fathery, have you had the puerco en pipan? It's sublime (their carnitas are also but they only have them occasionally as a special)
Who has the best pizza in Berkshire County??
I think the story is there IS no story.........
There really is no great pizza in the Berkshires.
RIP

Does anyone know if Smokey Mountain BBQ is still open? If it is, is it still good?

REAL Southern BBQ comes to Western Mass!
Is this BBQ joint still open, and is it still great?
thanx!
