Excellent, wine-focused restaurant/wine bar recommendations
So where did you end up going?
MUST VISIT restaurants in Seattle
First Copper River salmon will be flown in on Thursday. If you see it on a menu, be sure to order it, maslovma.
Visiting my daughter and need advice
I like The Brooklyn too, babette. Oysters are impeccably fresh and I also like their beer and wine flights. Oysterfest in October is always a big hit.
Oyster lover needs help
Try lunch at The Brooklyn. Their oysters are very fresh and it is not far from The Market or the new Chihuly Glasshouse.
Best hotel to stay at for a Ballard Crawl?
I think they've already crawled. I thought they were hitting the neighborhood last weekend although we haven't gotten a report back yet. Would love to hear the places they hit!
Falafel?
Santorini Greek Grill in Kirkland. Their Falafel is terrific as are their gyros.
Suggestions for girls' day out on May 5?
Cinco de Mayo and Opening Day of Boating Season (I think) -- you should have no problem finding things to, places to eat, etc. Try Googling "Seattle Events, Ma 5". You should find plenty of ideas.
Where to buy seafood?
Could be too early in the season, FoodD. Did you find fresh ones anywhere else?
Where to buy seafood?
What time were you there? Hit at opening and take your chances. Did you call to determine availability? Tim's is doggone great - not infallible but neither is any place else in town!
Where to buy seafood?
Tim's in Kirkland Parkplace (across from the QFC). Impeccably fresh seafood daily.
Staff Appreciatioin Lunch--Maximilien's or Pink Door or?
Yikes. I had the express lunch at Maximilien's about 6 months ago and it was quite good. Service was friendly and the view is killer.
I also like Place Pigalle, but don't find the view as riveting unless sitting on the outdoor patio. We are going into the warm(er) weather months, though, so I'll be hitting Place for al fresco dining. The deck at Maximilien's is also quite nice.
Steelhead doesn't have the views (from most tables and the private back room) but lunch selection is large and I think the prices are reasonable.
Staff Appreciatioin Lunch--Maximilien's or Pink Door or?
+1 for Maximilien's! Good food for not a lot of money. You might also consider the private back room at Steelhead Diner if you need a small private place. The view isn't killer like Maximilien's bar though.
Just Moved to Redmond from Boston -- Food Shopping Help Please!
Redbird, I was at Freddy's this afternoon and all varieties of King Arthur Flour is on sale for $3.99 for a 5 lb bag. Comparable to Target's price through Saturday!
Chez Shea closing
I'd sure try to get in before it closes, Lotus. It's one of Seattle's loveliest dining spots and the food is always wonderful.
Best Eggs Benedict?
The food at Trellis is fresh, fresh, fresh! Chef has his own acreage and grows much of what is prepared and served. Terrific choice! The Heathman is nice too, BTW!

Should have also mentioned a good independent fish monger, I love Tim's Seafood across the driveway from the QFC in Kirkiland Parkplace. Fish is impecably fresh daily and almost exclusively wild (not farmed). Scallops are the light tan dry pack rather than the snow white wet pack which are injected with preservatives and fluids.
Ivory and red King salmon is readily available although still quite expensive. You don't need huge quantities of this rich fish. You can easily round out the meal with starches and fresh vegetables, Halibut, sole, mahi mahi, black cod, mussels, tiger prawns, ohno and so much more.
Enjoy your searches, redbird, and keep us posted on what you find.

I don't think "Bill" is part of the day to day butcher shops now. I think he sold his interest and it is now a corporate chain. As many othes here have suggested, Costco offers a great selection of truly good choice and prime meats at good prices. Their select beef (as with all select cuts) needs at least three hours braising on the stovetop or in the oven or many hours in your slow cooker. You'll also find great selection at Golden Steer Meats, 15225 Bel-Red Road, Bellevue, 425.746.1910, www.goldensteer.net. Prices match the quality.
One of my go-to places for good local produce during the season is Yakima Fruit Market,
17321 Bothell Way, NE, 425.486.6888, www.yakimafruitmarket.com. This place has been family owned since 1938. It's open from the first Wednesday in March through October. Don't miss the local Skagit Valley berries during the brief (2-3 weeks usually) time they're in the Market. Absolutely yummy!
Graduation Dinner with Dad
I agree BufBandit. Oceannaire is a chain with prices that didn't appeal to Seattlites. Food was okay, but not spectacular. Although not a chain, I don't hold Blueacre in much higher esteem.
Spokane High-end restaurants
The PNW board has quite a thread and some lesser threads going on Spokane's eateries. Get started here, mcfish:

Wanted: Banana Cream Pie!
Get an Emeril cookbook. Ate bcp at one of his New Orleans eateries and it was terrific. Bought one of his cookbooks and now make it myself at home. Yummm/
Five Hooks Fish Grill—don't bother
I've occasionally had a good meal at Paragon. It's dicey however. Good one night. Meh the next.
What to eat for a first-timer to Seattle?
Ray's Cafe for Happy Hour and sports t.v late Sunday afternoon is fun. Tasty, well priced apps and toddies for 3 hours, Not bad and definitely NOT a geriatric crowd upstairs.
What to eat for a first-timer to Seattle?
I think Lola does breakfast well, too, rudyhux, but I find their lunch and dinner executions to be horrible. I would stay far, far away during those mealtimes.
What to eat for a first-timer to Seattle?
Mmmmmm., Yellow Leaf Cupcakes. So yummy. I used to work a block away in the Darth Vader building and it was always a toss up - Top Pot or Yellow Leaf. The Leaf got my vote everytime. I'm kind of sad to see the cupcake frenzy becoming passe.
What to eat for a first-timer to Seattle?
+2 for Full Tilt. Much better than Moonies.
