Acquolina Hosteria

Posted about a month ago for restaurants between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna. Maybe I need to be willing to travel further. What is consensus for dining at Acquolina Hosteria? There is a lot of fish/seafood on menu which I like. How long a taxi ride is it from Via Babuino? Should I make the trip? Grazie.

Barchetta - Stylish Seafood in Chelsea from Esca Chef

Had a completely negative experience when I ate dinner there a few months ago---tiny portions, way too expensive, a waiter who rushed us, a manager who constantly walked back and forth sneering at diners, etc. Very different experience at Esca and Il Pesce.

Columbus Circle Restaurant

The Smith is on Broadway and 63rd. You can order a variety of dishes which wouldn't be too expensive. On a nice evening, it's pleasant to sit outdoors across from Lincoln Center.

Eating between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna in Roma

Staying on Via Del Babuino late September from Saturday to Tuesday. Have been to Rome many times and traveled to great restaurants all over the city. This time we want to dine within a 10 minute walking distance of Hotel Piranesi. We are interested in Italian food with emphasis on pasta and fish or shellfish--not meat. Any price and perhaps a hidden gem you may know about. Also wine bars or great pizza. Grazie.

Puerto Rico (ESJ, OSJ, Condado) Suggestions?

La Cueva Del Mar in OSJ only opened in that location 3 weeks ago but they have 2 other locations. Their menu is large and fish tacos look very good. We ate a delicious fried whole snapper and were able to select the fish we wanted.

Trip Report San Juan

Thanks to everyone who helped us find great food in San Juan. La Cueva Del Mar in OSJ opened 3 weeks ago and is a great place for wonderful seafood/fish at a reasonable price. Both Jose Enrique and Santaella in Santurce were outstanding. Marmalade on OSJ offered a lovely setting and good food. St. Germaine had great salads and sandwiches for lunch and Cafe Puerto Rico's mofongos were delicious.
We loved staying at El Convento but didn't think their restaurants were nearly as good as the ones I just mentioned.

All'Onda

I ate there last night and although the staff was gracious and competent, I found the food I had to be way too salty. I sent back the spaghetti with manila clams. The dorade was tasty but the bed of tomato olive tapanade it sat on was also extremely salty. I loved the tuna crudi though. There was a large selection of wines in all price ranges. My bill reflected a no charge for the sphagetti and an extra amount taken off as well. Maybe I'll try All'Onda again in a few months to see if the chef modifies the salt.

San Juan--what do you think of these choices?

Hello,
After some research, I've narrowed down dining to these restaurants. We are staying at El Convento for 5 nights in February so I've chosen places convenient to the hotel I think.
Jose Enrique
Sofia
Marnmalade
Rosa Triana
Santaella

We want to have fish, seafood and vegetarian choices and want to sample a variety of cuisines. Thanks for your help.

taipei upscale restaurants

Going to Taipei next week for several days and have reservations at Shin Yeh and Really Good Seafood. I know we could get more authentic food at night markets and eating street food but would prefer more elegant settings for dinner. We are staying at W Hotel in Xinyi so if there are restaurants close to our hotel it would be a plus. I would like Asian food preferably with many seafood/fish options. How are Aoba and San Hsi T'ang at National Palace Museum?
Thank you for your help.

Upper West Side

Red Farm recently opened its second location on Broadway between 76-77. Delicious take on Chinese food--right now it's only opened until 5pm so lunch would be your best bet. Also Mermaid Inn for great fish is on Amsterdam between 87-88.

Pasta near Empire Hotel for pre-marathon dinner

The Empire Hotel is across the street from Lincoln Center so you have picked a lovely area for your stay in NY. I recommend Cafe Fiorello on Broadway around the corner from your hotel for pasta and vegetarian choices. The Lincoln Ristorante on the Lincoln Center Plaza or Bar Boulud next to Cafe Fiorello would be good Sunday choices. You can check out their menus online on menu pages. There are also some mediocre restaurants next to or part of your hotel--Ed's Lobster House, Rosa Mexicano, and PJ Clarke.

Asian food near Lincoln center tomorrow night

Shun Lee is right across the street from Lincoln Center. There is a cafe in the front of the restaurant and a regular dining room in the back of the space. Open Table shows that they will take a reservation until 11:30 pm.

Don't know if it's the best in the city but whole fish at Mermaid Inn on Amsterdam and 87th is very good!

Early Dinner near theater 20th between Eighth and Ninth Ave

Looking for a 5o'clock dinner before theater on a Sunday night. Have eaten at Donatella and wasn't pleased. Anything else within a very short walk in this area. Cookshop doesn't open until 5:30 and that's too late. How about Intermezzo? Would like Italian, French, Greek, American but not Asian or Mexican. Thanks.

Corvo Bianco

We ate dinner at Corvo Bianco last Friday night and were extremely disappointed by the food. Yes the space is great and the 33$ wine selections are excellent but those are the only things to recommend it. The pasta with clams was bland and watery and the whole fish wrapped in chard was inedible.. Too bad for the UWS!

Quintessential NYC (Manhattan) fare

How about a visit to the Museum of Design and lunch at Robert at the Museum--a beautiful view--ask for a window table and enjoy a a lovely lunch or dinner. it isn't that far from your hotel at 2 Columbus Circle at 59th St.

UWS dinner

Spring is just average. I would recommend The Smith across the street from Lincoln Center where you can sit outside or inside. Today is such a beautiful day! As a bonus there will be music playing in the plaza at Lincoln Center this afternoon.

Another visitor to Taipei

I am staying at the W Hotel in December. What restaurants would you recommend that are close by? Should I go to the restaurant at the 101 Building? Also I don't eat meat or chicken and hope that won't be a problem.

Sunday dinner 10 people (3 are 5 and under) UES or UWS@5:30 suggestions?

Atlantic Grill on either Third Ave between 76-77th or Atlantic Grill on W. 64th across from Lincoln Center. Eastside has outdoor space which could be better with young children. Check the menu and see what you think.

Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet

I am in the very early planning and researching of a first trip to Bhutan, Katmandu, and Lhasa. Will there be restaurants that I must try or should I rely on eating at the hotels where I will stay which will be in the luxury range. Thank you for your response.

ABC Cocina

Was at ABC Cocina this past Fri. night and liked the food too but found the service terrible. Rushed by waitress to order, first appetizer of fluke crudo brought to table immediately after ordering and before complimentary roasted chickpeas and bread appeared which we had to ask for. Wine overpoured and too frequent--maybe it was just our waitress but I'll think twice before returning.
I think it was 31 days before that I called--not easy to get a res.

Traveling to NY for a week with my dad, where to eat?

The best fish is at Citarella on Broadway and 75th. It also has good produce but a little more expensive than Fairway. A moderate restaurant for fish would be Mermaid Inn on Amsterdam and 87th. Closer to where you are staying is Ditch Plains for fish.
