Arlington's traditional bakery is the Tremont Goodie Shop in Tremont Center. Quality is excellent. I wasn't looking for spectacular last time I visited, but they do the traditional designs.
Inexpensive (cheap) place to have a reception/meeting in Dallas
Maggiano's at Northpark Mall has private rooms, reasonable prices and good food.
Best Sandwich in Dallas
La Duni on Oaklawn has an excellent selection of sandwiches. My favorite is the Torta Cubana.
Oakbrook Chinese
What is the best Chinese in the Oakbrook area? I recall visiting a family owned Chinese restaurant on Butterfield that was large, busy, and excellent.

Coal Vine at 2404 Cedar Spring is very popular with your age group right now. Very pleasant setting, if the weather is mild the patio is very nice. Bob's Steakhouse is my favorite local steak in Dallas, on Lemmon just n of Oaklawn.
Best Sit-Down Chain Burgers
Houston's has a great burger as does J. Alexander. Ruth's Chris also has an excellent burger. In each of these cases the burgers are good because of the quality of the meat and the restaurants actually prepare to order. Although Champp's won't cook to order, their blue cheese burger is a good one when it's not over cooked.
Champps Americana- Opinions
Champp's insists on serving their burgers dried out gray. If I am going to pay more than fast food prices for a burger, I'm going to get it my way, and not their attorney's. Other menu items are adequate, but they miss much of my business with this policy.

If you have a Houston's in your area, the food is always good and prices are always reasonable.

Cleveland is in the heart of the catfish farm region. Although I can't recall the name, a local restaurant specializes in local catfish. Super stuff. Cleveland is small enough any local should be able to refer.
Seattle, one weekend, on a budget
If you are driving up to Snoqualamie Pass, stopping at Salish Lodge is an expensive breakfast or lunch, but a world class destination. If Snoqualamie has no weather issues, and as a Texan you'd don't see much winter mountain scenery, it's like driving through a postcard. Mount Ranier will still have a lot of snow cover, but likewise between the waterfalls and the spring hiking trails, it is a great destination. I like Dukes for casual sea food. They have a location N of downtown Seattle about 3 miles. Maybe the Greenlake location (?) My favorite chowder, and a scenic marina location. Have fun.

If by any chance you are staying at Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, all the restaurants there were super fine. Beautiful views, excellent quality, world class.

Business Dinner Downtown?
Shaw's crab house is just out the back door of the Marriott, superb seafood. a chain, but always reliable, Houstons is also less than one block. A short cab ride for a truly fine meal is to the Erie Street cafe. Mostly local business diners. Very, very good steaks and seafood. Also a short ride and always good, Eli's Steak House.

N. of Dupont circle is an Italian restaurant, Il Tomat that has always been good and reasonably priced.
Need Help w/ Boeuf Bourgignon ASAP
My usual recipe for BB calls for a couple of tablespoons of red currant jelly. No doubt a healthy dose of sugar will minimize tartness. If you are in a hustle and have grape jelly rather than currant, I'd try it.

Liu Pon Xi, the Asian restaurant in the short north on the bridge meets your criteria. Lindey's in German Village. Ocean Club in Easton has been newly remodeled and well received. Haiku in the short north is modern Asian, hip, but probably more casual than you are hoping.
