Niagara on the Lake - Stone Road Grill

Planning a wine tour day dinner at Stone Road Grille after reading a lot of great comments here about the restaurant. Website menu looks great but no prices!?

Can anyone who has been here give me a an idea of prices? Ball park for mains or overall price for 2 for appetizer, main, dessert...?

Thanks!

Help! Patio on Baldwin? John's, Thai, La Gaffe???

Thanks vorpal! I already made a reservation - they gave me a hard time about reserving a patio table for 6 people after 6pm (630) but said if I get there right at 6pm she'll do her best - I can't blame them too much it being so nice outside! I could hear the woman speaking cantonese to someone in the background about what she should tell me...funnily enough I speak cantonese! Hopefully we score the patio table and I was eyeing the pad see eew on the menu...and I love shrimp!

Will post a review if all goes as planned.

Help! Patio on Baldwin? John's, Thai, La Gaffe???

I'm not a big mexican food fan and last time I went to Margaritas I found the food pretty bad, sorry!

Help! Patio on Baldwin? John's, Thai, La Gaffe???

Trying to pick a patio for tonite on Baldwin...somewhere semi-cheap, has good veggie options (not all veggie though I do like Vegetarian Haven), and is loungy enough, where a few can gather afterwork for a couple of drinks and a bite?

I've heard mixed things about John's Italian.

Anyone tried Thai Paradise?

I've been to Cafe La Gaffe - had bad service though I didn't think the food was bad...

Any suggestions for a fave? Also do you know if you can reserve a patio table?

Is Cafe La Gaffe still open (onBaldwin)?

Was just there this week. Food I thought was pretty good, but yes the service was horrible.

London, Ont: Dinner rec's

I'm going to be in London this weekend for business and am looking for a mid-range restaurant for dinner. Something downtown please.

I'll eat any type of food so long as it's tasty!

Best Ottawa Indian?

I'm a fan of Cafe Shafali in Dalhousie. Delish.

Nagina is good for cheap buffet and byow.

Local 'hound favorites in downtown Ottawa?

I second The Scone Witch and Ichibei. Friends who moved to Ottawa from Japan for a year said it was the only place they would ever go for Japanese...I miss it (live in Toronto now).

Not a big fan of The Black Tomato, find it oily and garlicy.

LOVE The Domus Cafe in the Market for Lunch, Brunch, Dinner whatever.

Cafe Shafali (I think on Dalhousie) has delish but expensive (IMHO) indian.

Pho

If you're in Ottawa, Pho Ba Ga is smooth, spicy, tangy, delish and plenty plenty of noodles and tripe...yummmm.

I'd be interested in hearing about more Pho places in downtown Toronto and west end also!

Good Chinese near High Park/Bloor West/Junction?

Ah, no, Pho Mi Tri is the only one I've found that seems reasonable - I saw a few others along Dundas I think, that seem a bit too sketch for me.

Oh I saw Osaka, I'll have to try that. Funny enough I just got a Young Thailand menu in my mailbox!

Where would you go for your last meal?

I was pretty disappointed with Lai Wai Heen for a banquet (I know sacrelige, I can hear gasping), but a lot of the dishes were cold for one thing and I didn't think it was all that better than some places in Markham (gasp again). Perhaps it was all the hype leading up to it that killed it.

My last meal choice would be La Mossace in Florence, mmmmm the practically had the cow on the table.

I've yet to explore enough to know in Toronto - but for slow food I love Domus in Ottawa. Also Beckta is a must.

30th Birthday Dinner for 15 - resto-bar/lounge?

Wow, thanks for all the tips. I'll check out Beer Bistro and Izakaya.

Noted re the Red Room - I'm pretty picky when it comes to any type of asian food - most days I'd much rather go to a greasy spoon on Spadina than have overpriced fusion. Although I've always been curious about Lee and of course Susur but Lee is probably better in the range for the party.

30th Birthday Dinner for 15 - resto-bar/lounge?

Yea I think Czehoski and Habitat might have to be reserved for a time I'm not thinking about the guest list.

Thanks for the tips - I checked out Laide and KiWe's websites but I think I'm looking for something with a little more variety on the menu (could I be asking too much?)

What are your thoughts on The Drake Hotel? What about the Red Room - I keep hearing about that too.

Really appreciate your input - great for a newcomer!

Good Chinese near High Park/Bloor West/Junction?

Thanks Sheryl, I'll try Rice & Noodle for sure.

I've been going to Pho Mi Tri Ky for Vietnamese - decent bun and pho and really close to me so an easy choice, it's on Pacific at Dundas.

I've been meaning to try Sushi Villa on Bloor and Simply Thai is ok....I'm trying to measure my expectations with the convenience of location otherwise I would head down to Spadina any other day.

30th Birthday Dinner for 15 - resto-bar/lounge?

Thanks, the dancing part of the equation isn't key (after all the birthday party will be getting on in years, ha) but good quality food at a reasonable price and non-overpriced drinks are mostly what we're after.

Do you think I'm limiting the "interesting" quality of the food by going to a resto/bar/lounge place? What about Czehoski or Habitat? Is that the right kind of place? Or too pricey?

30th Birthday Dinner for 15 - resto-bar/lounge?

Yes I've been pleasantly surprised at the food quality at Brant House as well.

Ok I'll put Laide and Brant House on the list...any other suggestions would REALLY be appreciated, having just moved here I'm anxious to find and try new great places in Toronto.

Good Chinese near High Park/Bloor West/Junction?

Oh that is so sad to hear. I was worried about that but hoped someone might have something hidden up their sleeve.

What about a good Chinese place that's as west as possible? Please don't tell me I need to trek to Mississauga to get it!

I do love the Korean along Bloor.

Good Chinese near High Park/Bloor West/Junction?

Recently moved and need to compile my "go-to" list for takeout and delivery.

Any suggestions for Chinese in the west end of Toronto would be appreciated.

Already got a few good Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai choices.

PS Not looking for Canadian Chinese food (no radioactive red sauce please).

30th Birthday Dinner for 15 - resto-bar/lounge?

Recently moved to Toronto, looking for place for a special birthday dinner for about 15 people. Preferably entrees around $25 max and suitable for an evening of late dinner and then drinks and maybe even dancing. I keep hearing about Laide, is it a good choice or others?
