Which Pizza?

I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend Unos. No real reason except that it's probably the best 'Chicago style' pizza you can find.

Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder isn't really Chicago style pizza. It is good though ... I'd probably recommend it to a group of people that have been to Chicago and would like to try something with a side of Chicago history.

Tavern on the Park ...

Thanks ... I wasn't sure about the opening date. (and thanks for the name correction!) :)

Tavern on the Park ...

Anybody have the inside scoop on Tavern on the Park at the Prudential Building? The location is (seriously) to die for considering it is probably one of the closer restaurants to the park with a magnificent view. (I work in that building, very familar with the vantage point)

They have been in construction for quite a while now. The building was sold to an LA based REIT last year around this time and immediately plans for Taven on the Park were announced with an anticipated opening date of Fall 2006, which got pushed into Spring 2007, and here we are in Summer 2007.

Eating before a cubs game

You know, one place that is nice and cool before a hot game is Goose Island right on Clark just a few doors down from Wrigley. I've found that the place is not THAT packed before (or after) the game.

Goose Island
3535 N Clark

But I do agree with the poster that recommended Murphy's Bleachers. I go there quite a bit, but I may be looking to 'upgrade' my Wrigley experience a bit ... not sure if my wallet will be able to afford it though.

Any recommendations for Gujarati food in the city?

I'm jonesin' for some Gujarati food in Chicago. Most of the restaurants I've been to on Devon are either North or South Indian.

I'm a city dweller, so ideally a place in the city, but if you have other suggestions, I'd be game as well.

Thanks!

1 nite downtown Chicago - fun, young, but delish client dinner

I would probably vote for Hugo's as the 'most intimate' of the entire group of *excellent* suggestions.

Hmm... sorry, I actually didn't know that BWG was a chain. Again, I've never been there, but I do have a client lunch in a few weeks there.:)

Another option, is Tavern on Rush. That is in the Gold Coast, "Chicago-centric" (a lot of people think beef is very Chicago), not too touristy restaurant (too high of a price for the run of the mill visitor) but in a tourist area, and not quite italian.

Lounge/club recommendations for 30 somethings?

La Passage on Rush will probably fit your bill.

Rethinking Vermilion reservation, also thinking about brunch

Yeah, but it was a Wednesday ... the entire month of December I took clients out, and that restaurant and Dine (in the west loop) were the only two dead ones. I guess it's a bit "out of the loop".

Need cheap eats (and parking) near Borders, 830 N. Michigan

There is a Johnny Rockets that is not too far from there. My girlfriend and I went there once when the line at Cheesecake Factory was over 90 mintues (I had a GC, else I would not have gone there)

Johnny Rockets had a LOT of families with kids. Also, there is an TGI Friday's not too far from that area either.

Rethinking Vermilion reservation, also thinking about brunch

Is it me, or is Vermilion DEAD during lunch? I took a client during the holidays and I think it was me and another table, and that was IT.

Very good food though, just not a good place to make it lively during lunch. I kinda like a little bit of activity at the restaurant.

Another vote for Portillo's.

Good bars in Lincoln Park on St. Patty's Day

Is this a joke? All LP bars are pretty much Irish, and all of them will have a TON of people in them.

After Otto's ... drinks/dessert suggestions?

Just a follow-up ... the 8 others in my group went to Otto's on Saturday night. They actually "lost" my reservation. I told the maitre d' that I made these reservations weeks ago -- probably close to 3 weeks. The place was packed with no room to spare.

The manager came to me while we were waiting and apologized that they lost my reservation. She offered a free bottle of sparkling wine to soothe things over. (we accepted of course)

Suprisingly, they were able to squeeze us a table in 40 minutes.

That being said, we had a wonderful meal. One person said that was the best pizza they've ever had.

and yes, the olive oil gelato was very good.

Thank you all!

After Otto's ... drinks/dessert suggestions?

<blush> You are probably right ... I was considering Inoteca .... read up on all the reviews, but when I read they didn't take reservations (and we should get there before 7:30 for a decent wait) I pulled the plug for this group of 9 visiting primarily from Chicago.

Thanks for all your help! I appreciate the suggestions!

After Otto's ... drinks/dessert suggestions?

I have reservations for a group for Otto's ... do you have any suggestions for drinks and/or dessert afterwards? I've read here on Chowhound that the people watching at Otto's itself is pretty good (as long as your not downstairs) but was wondering if there was a 'must stop' place nearby.

Thanks in advance!
